10 Best Cat Water Fountain Filters Deals 2022

So far so good. 36 hours since setting it up. Packaged well and nothing broken, unlike the unfortunate few reviewers. But let me point out a few things that can clarify some of the negative given for this, and any of the other fountains really.NONE OF THEM ARE PERFECT. Water is involved, and with that, a breeding ground for bacteria. What about the carbon filters, you ask? They’re not meant to remove microbes. ONLY chemicals like chlorine. They are the same types of filters you find in your Brita pitchers and water dispensers. If you want 100% perfect water (hypothetically), use distilled. Distilled has no chemicals, minerals (TDS) or microbes. And then you won’t even need the carbon filters anymore, just the little foam one that helps keep debris out of the pump. And that can be washed and disinfected. I’m using the filters that came with the fountain, and then that’s it. I’m not buying any carbon filters and will resue the foam one. We drink 100% filtered water, using the Zero water system. Don’t know what that is? look it up. It’s actually pretty cool, and if you have hard water, it WILL benefit. Because hard water has a high amount of TDS (total dissolved solids). And the Zero system and it’s filters remove that, all of it. I’ve tested it. So i’m not kidding. So I don’t need distilled water for anything, let alone silly little carbon filters for this fountain. If you want to slow down sludge growth of this fountain after initial use, these are my suggestions:- bleach it first. I’m not kidding. Whether you use full strength or a 10% solution, kill the germs that are present on the fountain while upon arrival. Apply the cleaner to all parts, including the pump, for 10 minutes, then flush thoroughly. Run the pump to make sure it flushes itself out well. THEN put it together.-add no more than 2 tsp of peroxide to the water, and only if you’re using filtered/distilled water. A friend of mine says he actually sprays it on the filter of his fountain every so often and it helps keep it clean. I did some reaserch and there are some claims to peroxide, in small measured quantities, is actually good for you. I’m not putting up any links..look it up yourself.-don’t like the idea of peroxide still? Add 2 tsp of apple cider, or white, vinegar. If you have hard water, this will also help combat hard water stains on the your fountain. I didn’t say totally eliminate the issue, i said help combat, meaning reduce. ACV is also said to be good for you pet, and humans. And some water addtives for dental purposes have ACV in it. My last bottle did ist it. I use both of these methods by the way.-keep it out of direct sunlight. Sunlgiht helps algae grow, among other microbes.Plus it will warm the water, and if you don’t like drinking lukewarm water, i don’t think your cat will either.-keep it away from their normal feeding area. Some pets like to go straight from food to water, and back again, dropping bits into the fountain. Dogs are notorious for this crud, and i’ve actually seen my old Drinkwell Platinum get nasty much faster after a dog has been using it long enough.-try to keep it out of high traffic areas. Feet kick up dirt, and dirt will get into the water more often if in areas like that. — i know these last 2 aren’t always feasible for eveyrone, considering the layout and size of your home. But bear these in mind when you have issues.Now for mechanics and assembly of this particular fountain. My husband put it together without instructions. Perfectly. No leaks, No issues. He dove in on it before i could get it out of the box good.- There is no hole in the bottom of the dish! Not one that will cause issues. The hole that is there, is just a feed tube for the power cord to the pump. Pump sits in dish, Cord goes up the outside of the tube, then down the inside of it. Then under and out from the bottom of the dish. That’s the only function of the tube. And the tube entry is much higher than the water level of a comepletely full dish, And there is a cap/gasket that still covers that. The water is pushed up through the second piece that sits inside the dish.-as for sound. I don’t hear the motor. Period. And I have some darned good hearing. The water flow seems to be what bothers folks. Think of, a drikning fountain at school or in a store. That’s the flow of this fountain. But regardless of flow, the reason why it’s ‘loud’ is because fountain doesn’t have a ‘splash ramp’ like the other Drinkwell products, like my old Platinum. The water flows directly into itself. So fill a sink just a little and then turn on the faucet to a low steady flow and keep it like that for a few mintues. If you don’t like that sound, don’t get this fountain, or any others like it that don’t have the splash ramp. No, having a flow valve like on the platinum will not help. It’s still water hitting water. Only change with be the pitch or tone of the water.By the way, i had the Platinum for 7 years. I retired it 2 weeks ago, because, it was just old and nasty. Sludge was growing faster than i could keep up with and the water would actually look nasty, with this film floating in it. It’s plastic. It’s been through it’s paces of being moved cross country and cleaned constatly. 7 years for a $60 item. Well worth it. But i didn’t want plastic again, because that does harbor more germs than ceramic or steel, because plastic does break down over time. We replaced the pump once in it’s lifetime. Just like in cars, motors die folks, especailly with constant use. As for the mother with this Pagoda, well we’ll see. But unlike others, i’m not going to get overly butthurt over it. I registered my product with PetSafe (keep your invoice! They ask you to uplaod it!), so if the motor dies within a year, I’ll just get it replaced. Not like my cats will die immediately over not having the fountain running for a few days while i wait for a new pump. They’ll find other ways to get a drink in the meantime, whether i help them or not. i might come back later with an update on the pump, just so foks can see how ong mine lasted.Several months later……. 08/08/2014The motor is still working just fine. Has not died on me. Nothing has broken. Because of the climate I’m in, southern Lousisiana hot and humid, plus the number of cats, 4, It does get icky in about 2 weeks. But again, this is not a defect of the product. It’s situational and it’s something I work on. I do add the liquid called Manna Pro All Natural Water Protector that I bought at the Tractor Supply locally. I found it in the chicken feed section but it can be used on other animal as well. The ingredients are quite safe for cats and dogs, based on my experience as a soap maker, so I have to research ingredient labels and what each item is and what it does. I do believe it prolongs the water cleanliness considering our specific household situation. Pretty sure Amazon sells it as well if you do a search.Last Edit……December 10th, 2014I still have it. Have not broken the fountain itself and the motor is still good. Only thing I replaced were the plastic parts because I washed them in the bottom rack of my dishwasher. The instructions didn’t indicate whether they could be washed this way or not. Ordered them on PetSafe’s website and the set is very affordable. All 4 of my cats use it constantly. I clean it once a month. I’ve noticed using the carbon filter, there is less sludge going to the motor. But it could also be the additives I use to keep the water clean. Great buy for our family.

I first want to apologize for the “one star” rating. However, the skeptics will gravitate to the one star ratings by nature. In fairness, I would rate this “three stars” (my original rating was 5 stars plus one equals average of 3-in case you do the math). Like the heading states, I have had this for six years. If you think you’re the GOT product reviewer, think again. I am the grandmaster and by admission I should feel shame or pride depending upon your perspective. I take it to the next level (the next lower level is 5 tiers down) before I can make an informed decision including the obvious reviews as well as working examples and feedback from YouTube (aka beginner stuff). The reason I drew you in (with the one star rating) is that it is doubtful that anyone worth their reputation would waste time on a ho hum 3 star review-the authentic do not eat quick grits which is why I will summarize with a very concise PRO/CON summary below (the method that my favorite and most revered of verified buyers use to post reviews-isn’t this the world we live in? No more gimmicks, scams, misrepresentations or false advertising will prevail. We are in the information age and people genuinely want to share their “experience” to pass along their “insight” in an empirical and forthright critique-personal preference, belief system, and biases notwithstanding). So back to my advanced vetting process that allows potential buyers the benefit of vicarious hindsight. I purchased the top 3 rated pet fountains. In my case, it pertains to providing a minimum of 2-3 days of water for two dogs (20-30 lbs. each). In addition, this product (consider it the 4th among the 3 current purchases), will constitute the primary functionality and engineering difference among the 3 I just purchased. The design is far superior to the Pioneer Pet and here’s why:Pioneer Pet (again, this is an updated 6 yr. review)PROS:1. It is a solid build, stainless steel has endured without any signs of rust or corrosion (kinda obvious though). Suction cups are not great, one tore off and has ever since created a PITA to keep it seated while reassembling the filter pump housing-major flaw-see cons for clarification.2. The pump is built to last. The first went 5 yrs. before replacement3. It’s quiet until inevitably the gurgling starts unless it’s refilled (which means the quickly deteriorated quality of the water should be changed altogether-“topping off” as my original review species is not going to provide enough “fresh” water to restore the adequate volume of water and clarity/taste/color, etc.)4. That’s about all I can come up with now.CONS:BACKROUND data collection: At the time I purchased this fountain, it was just about the only game in town. With the perspective of 6 years of usage and realization that I lost too many hours to quantify (time lost that I could’ve spent researching other products on Amazon-loving you), I feel like I just discovered self cleaning ovens or something akin.1. the design of a shallow basin, enclosed filter, and allowance of return water to enter the reservoir as well as, biggest peeve, the necessity to remove the power cable from the filter housing in order to clean it ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!2. too little volume. The water will get “shallow” at about the half full line. The pump gets staved-thanks to the obtrusive filter that gets in the way and is in the wrong location entirely. Trust me on this. There is no “tight seal” between the water entering and the pump intake). The gurgling starts as soon as the larger particles clog the intake and/or the water is too low.3. Filters-please. Not reusable, seriously. If you are sold on the “active charcoal” b.s., have at it. The charcoal is inactive as soon as a small amount of dog slobber coats the 3 grains wedged between the cotton filters-yes I disassembled one years ago and realized the granular size does nothing to provide any realistic function other than a great concept. If you already own one of these, rinse out the filter (leave the charcoal intact-unless you want to break it open which it is not meant to be-and flush it out with some vinegar or highly diluted bleach and then rinse and reuse. The only way to keep flowing water fresh in this low of volume is to constantly change it-every day is most likely IF you have a dog that doesn’t like tainted water). Wow, long parenthesis there.4. It is a chore to clean-quickly in the sink-without wasting so much water and/or necessitating a dishwasher run which also takes a toll on the rubber and plastic components. The filter housing-again, bad design, will require fine bristle, crevice worthy, attributes. A pre-soak is typically required5. To many, this may be the deal breaker. The bowl itself is not well thought out. This harkens back to the low level factor in terms of water. The bowl is too wide in ratio to its height. The “fountain” is great if your  animal (sorry, didn’t mean to alienate the cat people-I have 4 outdoor cats as well) only drinks from the flowing water. If they drink from the bowl, they’re angling their neck and having a smaller surface area of water to access (the top portion-call it the cap or lid or whatever-reduces the “bowl” surface area by a good 50%). Remember, I am differentiating this fountain from the “better” designed models available-more about this later if you’re into novels.6. The filters. As I mentioned, they need to be snapped into place and change frequently, do very little to prevent fine hairs, lint, airborne nuisances, etc. from bypassing it, and are stuffed into the “clamshell” outer housing that rarely stays put so aligning the spout with the top is a problem. Did I mention that this outer housing is both unnecessary to the models out there and the primary “mold reef” of the entire unit.7. Water flow. I am positive that the shape and location of the filter-sucks through the bottom instead of the side-allowing all the bottom particles that naturally precipitate and flocculate-to be at the same level of the filter so that they are always “stagnating”. What I mean is that the MANDATORY natural downward flow of the circulating water passes through the filter (think mountain spring water as it flows through porous rock) rather than being pulled from the water sitting at the bottom of the river bed (again, analogically speaking). To me, this is the deal breaker.8. Cleaning requirements are far too frequent. Here’s the math:      Shallow basin + poor circulation + ineffective bottom-up filtering + slime accumulation = daily cleaning and unhappy pets.In summary, I recommend circulating pet bowls that work in a literal “circle”. Water is pumped from a tall water basin, best if filter is a side inflow, cascades THROUGH a filter element-reusable indefinitely, and has an open, large basin from which your pet and a friend can drink simultaneously OR without tilting downward their muzzle. Believe this, the difference between a 45 degree and 30 degree neck bend in thermal dynamics (flow of air, water, or other matter through an enclosed space) is major. Consider it more work for your pet and less efficiency (like an exhaust vent for your drier-the more bends in it, the less air is passing through AKA CFM reduction). The one I like the best has a 3 L capacity, is entirely transparent to easily detect any mold growth or discoloration, is easy to clean, has a large open basin with optional “spout”, consists of fewer parts, and made of high quality, heavy gauge, BPA free plastic (in terms of break resistance, SS is best but unfortunately not transparent). Plastic will outlive SS in case you’re planning for a million years ahead-extra super value in that case. I dare to drop names but you’ve gotten this far (kindred spirits-you like insurance seminars too? I figure I’d put you out of your misery. I owe you that. Conclusion (hallelujah). In a completely perfunctory fashion,I settled on the one that checked all the boxes. I may be updating this review in 6 yrs. but in the meantime, I’m pretty confident (hint: Pecute brand) you’ll arrive at your own conclusion.-Amen For the masochist among us: enjoy my original 5 star reviewI bought this contraption with trepidation. The reviews were mixed at the time. When it arrived, it appeared to be pretty “flimsy” and cheaply made. At that time, I wasn’t expecting it to last more than a month at best (I figured the tiny pump would burn out hence I kept the box and invoice handy). However, after having it still going strong for the last “non-stop” 8 months, I am impressed which is why I took the opportunity to share positive feedback. Being a stickler for quality and design, I wasn’t overly impressed with the gauge and grade of “stainless steel” which is a bit light weight-namely the cover-but the bowl is solid and the lid/upper section has been fine. There’s no rust and it washes up with soap and hot water without any unnecessary scrubbing. Did I mention the pump is still working? And I mean 24/7. As long as you keep the water clean (flushing it out thoroughly at least once a week is ideal for one dog and one cat in my house) and then thoroughly cleaning it every other week works for me. While it is running, remember to keep it filled. If the water runs too low, it’ll start gurgling and the pump will starve and water won’t circulate. Just add water as the saying goes. At first I thought it was just a novelty for my dog but now she’s keen on drinking from the spout as it flows into the bowl. It’s kinda comical how she’ll be drinking from the spout as it runs down the channel while the cat is hunched below lapping it up from the bowl. It does what it says it dose.The water flows with just a soothing sound that won’t spook my cat for whom I purchased it originally because he seemed insatiable. I learned that he had CRF and there was no way I could keep up with his consumption using a regular water bowl. This device is great for this specifically because the volume of water it holds is nearly 2 quarts while the filter keeps the water free of hair and particles that would otherwise remain on the surface or stick to the sides of the bowl and/or clog the pump. I’ve re-used the original filter for the duration by rinsing it off and then allowing it to soak in a solution of hot water, vinegar and a little bit of bleach. I also use hot (from the tap) water and vinegar/bleach as a flush by allowing the machine to run as it would with fresh water. This way you can allow water to circulate through the filter as it would normally. Or you can drain the dirty water and just refill it (aka the “lazy” way that does not require a complete break down of components). The bottom line is that you need to keep it clean but there’s really no maintenance other than that. If you want to spend the money, buy the filters. What you gain is the freshness of the charcoal which also adds a “fresh taste” and reduces odor. However, after a week or two, it’ll need to be replaced to restore the “charcoal” effect. Otherwise, just keep rinsing it off and keeping it in its place allowing “filtration” of anything that would otherwise impair the pump. If you’re buying filters because you believe the water is going to remain clean, save the money and just ensure that you’re using clean water and that you always keep it topped off. If you do, you’ll find that your pets will most likely drink more water while you’ll benefit greatly with the added confidence that your pets will be well provided for at least a couple days should you forget to top it off completely. I highly recommend it.

First, I bought this product for our 2 small dogs, NOT for cats. We have a 8lb chihuahua, and a 12 lb Brussels Griffon. I mainly got this for the Brussels. Reason being, is that the particular breed it a freaking disastrous mess when it comes to getting a sip of water. Let me tell you, if you think your dog is messy at drinking water, it’s probably not, and you might be surprised at how much worse it can get. Let me elaborate a little….When my Brussels decides it’s time to ruin the house, she goes over to the water bowl. The particular breed has no elongated snout, they are smush faced like a pug….but even a pug has a longer snout than her. Her face is literally as flat as a board. Because of this, when she eats/drinks food, she is forced to put her WHOLE entire face/head into the waterer/feeder. Well ok, this wouldn’t be such a big deal….but Brussels Griffons have a long beard and mustache (might as well be the lumberjack hipster of dogs). Because of the long hair all over their face, combined with basically having to dip their head into the food/water bowls…you end up with this disaster of a dog face and floor. So if we focus just on her drinking water, her beard gets entirely soaked. I would say it’s akin to throwing your towel into a body of water, picking it up, and then walking around your house with it while it pours/drips water from itself. So when she is done drinking water, I usually know she’s drank water because there’s a huge pool of it around the watering bowl, and I know everywhere she’s been in the house because there’s a water trail to track her every move for the next 5-10 minutes. After maybe 25-30 minutes, her face is dry again….but of course not after rubbing it profusely all over the leather couches and throw blankets. What a little hussy…she knows what she’s doing.When we look at the food aspect of things, it merely exacerbates the issues. How could eating food turn the problems up to 11 you ask? Well, it goes a little something like this….come dinner time, this fat little hoover vacuum of a roomba I call my dog, get’s food crumbs stuck all in her hipstery beard/mustache (hey, just like a real hipster!). She is always thirsty after a good vacuuming session in her food bowl, so she goes straight for the water. She then proceeds to dunk the trashbag of a face she has into the water, swirl it around for good measure, and to ensure that as many crumbs and food particles as possible make it into the water. So now, I have a pooch with a dripping wet, dog food face rubbing her face all over my house while trying to water board the downstairs tile. Mmm…gotta love those kisses. And on top of that, the water bowl I JUST cleaned now looks like a scummy mess. Instantly….without fail.So….as you can clearly see, I have quite the issue dealing with this plague of a puppy. No amount of grooming can help, there’s just no solution even with an x-groomer as my fiance….until now! I have now discovered the Petsafe stainless steel drinkwell 360 fountain, and it’s been handed to me by the almighty doggy gods themselves! What attracted me to this device were several features:1) Stainless steel – I was very pleased to see this came in a nice stainless steel build. Since my father is a veterinarian, and owned his own practice, I have definitely come to appreciate all aspects of using stainless for food/water bowls. It stays cleaner longer, is sturdy, and also it just looks good!2) Fountain – I was really looking for a fountain of some kind. I had this crazy idea that maybe the Brussels would learn to drink from the fountain spout, and that this beard issue would be alleviated.3) Filtration – Again because of the amount of food that gets perpetually delivered from bowl to trough, I wanted something that could clean the water that wasn’t done by my hand once a dayThose were really the key elements I was looking for, and I found them all and more in this particular fountain. I love the fact that there’s a pre-filter for the pump to protect the pump from major crumbage. It has worked excellent in filtering out the major mess. The charcoal filters give the secondary line of defense, and clean very well. Because of how clean the water is coming out of the fountain spout, it only took my Brussels a couple weeks to learn where the cleanest water was coming from. Now she exclusively drinks from the water fountain…and get this, NO MOP FACE!!!!! My prayers have been answered by the puppy gods. And because her face doesn’t get entirely drenched, the amount of food going into the main water bowl has been dramatically reduced. This has provided a MUCH more sanitary and easy to handle environment for the dogs, and most importantly for me! I’m no longer a slave to the water bowl. It’s quite odd to be able to just fill the water up every 4 or 5 days (when I hear the pump slurping lightly) and not have to rigorously clean a disgusting water trough. For the most part, things remain very clean for a couple weeks straight. The food crumbs do eventually build up, but the filters do their job wonderfully, and the dogs seem to continue to enjoy the water out of the spout. I have not noticed any degradation in terms of flow speed when it comes to the pump over the course of a couple weeks. This thing, in my opinion, is rock solid in terms of performance.Cons:Even though I’m rating this 5 stars, there’s always room for improvement. What I would really like to see improved, is an attempt at removing as much of the plastic as possible. Some things like the pump obviously are going to be plastic. But the clips to hold the interior bowl could probably be redesigned in a way that would allow for stainless steel clips to be used instead. Same going for the fountain portion that contains the spout and charcoal filter. Another thing that would be really nice, would be a re-usable pyrex glass filter instead of the throw aways. That way you could simply clean the glass, replace the charcoal, and re-use the device without adding plastic to garbage facilities. I may attempt to make my own when I have time to focus on such a project.Conclusion:I was a bit hesitant to drop so much on a pet fountain….with the possibility being that I would just end up with a fancy device that’s purpose was never fulfilled because the dogs couldn’t figure it out. That is not the case what-so-ever. These guys figured it out, and have benefited greatly from this purchase. Most importantly, me and my house are benefiting now too! I couldn’t have asked for more from a fountain…it has squashed the most major deficiencies of the Brussels breed. Now I don’t have to worry about her jumping on the couch with a dripping wet face to try to come and give me those lovely wet food kisses anymore. This device really isn’t designed for any dogs much larger than mine, maybe up to at 15 lb dog. I would call that about max size for this bowl. So if you have an overgrown cat masquerading as a dog, this will be pretty perfectly sized. I’ve used a lot of water fountains for our cats. I used a knock off brand, two harmony brand, and Catit is the most recent brand I’ve used and I’m sticking with it.The most important reason why is because of cleaning. Harmony was a great design with easy filters to use, but it had all sorts of edges and corners that were impossible to clean regularly and time efficiently. I would have to get a q-tip to clean them, and the corners and edges got dirty faster than any part of the fountain due to the water flow being disrupted there.The knock off brand had a circular filter like Catit has, but it was only carbon filtering, and for some reason the makers decided to put edges inside of the water reservoir for no reason, leading to the same cleaning annoyance.Catit has no edges that build up gunk inside of the reservoir, everything is a smooth curve, meaning a sponge or towel can easily wipe away everything. I also like how the filter is structured, you can actually see the filter underneath the cover since it doesn’t cover it completely. This helps me know when I should clean or replace it without disassembling the whole thing. The filter also has more than carbon filtering it. I don’t remember what the white filter media is at the time of writing this review, and I’m writing it on mobile and can’t check unfortunately, but when I read it I was impressed. I own fish tanks and the media used had filter cleaning properties that carbon just doesn’t cover. We use brita filtered water anyways, but it’s nice to have a second filter making sure our cats drink clean water.Another thing is that the water pump is strong. Most brands use the same water pump that can be adjusted to weak to strong flow, but this pump has its weakest setting like the strongest setting of the previous ones. This means that the pump is less likely to get blocked, and when it dies build up gunk (usually fur or bioslime) its flow won’t be impacted so much, or as fast. Their are also guides on the bottom letting you know where the pump goes. And unlike most brands, the output of the pump isn’t off center, it’s just about right in the middle, which means you’ll never place the output in the wrong way (for example, the pumps of previous fountains had the output shifted to the right, so if you rotated the pump in any other direction, it wouldn’t go up the fountains tube.) A small yet helpful design change like that just makes the cleaning even easier.So far, I’ve had one Catit fountain I bought at the store, and no bioslime has accumulated even after two weeks. Bioslime usually appeared in other fountains after a week or less, I’d assume due to the weaker flow allowing it to settle on the surfaces, and due to the carbon only filter.I ordered two more Catit fountains through Amazon, and the only issue is that one fountain didn’t come with the yellow middle piece. Not sure how it happened, but it worked out since the cat I’m using it for like to drink from the middle output anyways.Two more neat things is 1. The clear plastic window that shows you how much water is in there. This is why I decided to try this fountain in the first place, it was such a neat design improvement, and it wasn’t all clear like some water fountains (which the excess light coming in from the all clear plastic can lead to algae growth) you have to look closely, at least on the non-led one, but you can usually tell by the drops of water that appear inside the window when the water level gets low. No need to dissemble the fountain, and you can see before it gets loud when it needs water. Another thing, this filter doesn’t get loud even when it gets low. I’d assume it’d get loud if it had no water, but you’d be able to catch it before that happens with the window. The low noise is such a relief, as with three of these I don’t always get the chance to refill them in a timely manner. The second neat thing is the filter replacements. Besides the two filter media’s, it’s got a hard plastic bottom, that just feels more study than the typical filter floss on a support structure that most filters use. I also find that I can rinse the filter since it’s so sturdy, and doesn’t get filthy like the others. I bought replacements, a pack of 5, for a good price in my opinion considering the quality of the filters, but I wonder when I’ll actually need to use them.One thing to note about carbon, it has a life span, something owning fish tanks has lead me to find. You’ll want to change the filters monthly just because of this, as when carbon reaches its end of its lifespan, it will not only stop filtering, but it’ll release some of what it’s filtered.Another thing to say, as if this isn’t an essay already, is that with our four cats of varying shapes and sizes, they all love these fountains. The water level actually drops faster than any other fountain I’ve had, showing that they are drinking more as well! With one cat having renal problems, this is such a relief. Drinking more prevents renal issues from occurring, like for our three younger cats, and prevents them from worsening, like for our old cat with renal problems.If you have a cat who has never drank from a fountain before, they’ll learn quick, but don’t be surprised if they seem taken a back at first. Most cats are used to water in a bowl because it’s what most people use, but flowing water is far more appealing to them once they realize it’s just water.Anyways, great water fountain! If anything happens over time that’s worth noting, I’ll be sure to update this review. But having the filter for over two weeks now, and this time mark usually being the time for poor design choices to reveal themselves, I’m pretty sure this a great filter.Oh, promise this is the last thing. For those who are always hunting for Made in USA products… the unfortunate news is that even after hours of searching I have yet to find any that fit the bill. The good news is that these fountains are made in Malaysia. The bad news is that the replacement filters are made in China… but I’ll take what I can get at this point.Okay, wait, seriously this is the last thing. The only thing I have not tested it how these stand up to machine washing, so I’ll be sure to update when I do that with the results.

What is great about this: You fill it with nice clean water.Turn it ‘on’ and whenever your Cat gets thirsty – water is there. The additional benefit is: whenever my Cat sees or hears I am on the way to the ‘room’ She comes barreling down the hallway – and jumps onto the sink which I then must turn ‘on’ to allow her an drink. At first, after placing the fountain – She still came in to the ‘room’ but you can see her remember – She no longer needs to drink from the faucet being it is easier for her to drink from the fountain.

I purchased this pet water fountain for my cats as the previous once died. I like that it will shut off when the water level gets low. My cats so far don’t like it as much as the old one, but they are getting used to it. It is also very quiet, much quieter than the old one, and that is much appreciated.Beware, however, that the fountain does not come with a USB power adapter (USB-A), and you will need to purchase or use one that you have already. Also, beware that the voltage and amperage of the adapter matter for this fountain. I tried to use the one that was used by my old fountain, but it didn’t work. I actually had to use a Samsung adapter with a slightly different amperage to get the fountain to work. PetKit does not mention this in their documentation anywhere, either with the fountain or on the site, and I mentioned this to their support department.Whether they plan to update their documentation, I do not know, but it’s a significant omission as most users will assume any old USB-A adapter will do. That they don’t sell an adapter specifically for this fountain is also a mystery.
