  1. Worked pretty good. So far, no complaints.

  2. Application is fast and easy.

  3. Game changer!!!!

  4. I used this primer on my bare aluminum johnboat with the sand Tuff Coat topcoat. Been out on the water 5 times this summer. Not a crack or any peeling anywhere on the boat.

  5. Only lost a star because it’s apparently not compatible under metallic spray paints (pictured) which actually looks sort of cool. Causes some chemical reaction that turns the finish to alligator skin. Otherwise it’s great under regular paint.

  6. I use LOTS AND LOTS of primer for my business. I appreciate being able to order here and get them quickly. thanks!

  7. Seems to work ok and the color paint went on nice, but the overall price seems a bit high. I would go and buy local next time.

  8. I haven’t used this yet but the product needs to be sealed better. Wrapped in a plastic bag (thank goodness) but it leaked all over the bag which in turn was all over the bottle. It does work well on your hands!

  9. I do Pour Acrylic Painting & I just mixed this can of paint with Flowtrol today, so I’ve not used it, but it seems Ok, pretty much like all paint. Like EVerything going up in price – this was no exception.

  10. This stuff is wonderful. How I have been painting my homes for 40 years and never used a product like this before. Will always have it at hand.

  11. I just loved how the thickness of this paint covered so well. It only required one coat as it exploded all over the box carrying it, antiquing everything else I purchased with it’s midnight hue. And it is so durable, as multiple washes will not remove it’s splatter. Should it have been shipped separately, or at least packaged with tape or plastic to prevent the paint can from damage while dancing during its journey? Perhaps. But where is the fun in not living dangerously, and forever finding black splats all over your possessions? And what of the lessons learned? Had I not been so faithful and adventurous, I would not have learned to never order paint through the mail. My one of many wishes, is that I was able to see this paint on the piece of furniture, it’s intended recipient, because it does cover oh so well. I guess the paint and I were excited to see each other, the paint maybe, more so than I.

  12. The DecoArt Multi-Purpose Primer & Sealer really is true to it’s name. I have mixed it with gel stain to stain, prime, and seal a wooden door hanger round and it turned out beautifully. I have also mixed it with acrylic paint with good results. I love that whatever color I mix it with becomes a primer and sealer and allows me to use fewer coats of paint.

  13. I used this on my terracotta pots as a base coat/ sealant before painting. It applies easily with a paintbrush, and it’s water-based, so very easy cleanup. It goes on white but dries completely clear. Super happy with the outcome. My pots actually turned out great even before I painted them. This is a great product and definitely does the trick.

  14. Great value for the price

  15. This is a good product, but its just a bit expensive

  16. We used this to get rid of our awful pink tile. It was super easy and worked really well. We even had enough left to do our half bath.

  17. I am looking for a navy blue furniture paint for my bedroom set. Glad I painted a piece I am throwing away as the color isn’t dark enough. It is more of a cobalt blue not a navy blue. Other than that it is an easy to use product and went on beautifully. absolutely needs 2 coats. This was 1 coat over wood finish that was lightly sanded and wiped down. Update: so after about three days it did darken up a little or it grew on me. So I decided to paint the headboard and nightstands and I love it. Now I just have to paint my room. I have before and after pics of the nightstands and a after pic of the headboard. I also used dark gray on the headboard and it turned out beautifully.

  18. I live in an old apartment with so many layers of poorly applied paint. It’s chipping and I had the urge to pull off strips on my bedroom door. Big mistake. Big job. I wanted a ‘hide-all’, and thought this is it. Well, it didn’t hide flaws. I didn’t take the door off of its hinges to lay it flat, but I planned on using it on baseboards…If there’s a pro tip/trick, I don’t know it

  19. Better than I expected… Left a very durable finish!

  20. Been using this for years and I’ve never been disappointed.Latest project: I had severe damage on 2 of my eaves inflicted by carpenter bees. I filled then with wood filler. I had a LOT of white filler exposed and it looked terrible. I painted with Rust-Oleum Brush On Paint and they covered up really well. Because of the mass amount of white filler I had I could still see a slight lightness on the larger patches. But I was impressed with the coverage. I did a second coat and it’s perfect. On other projects where I do not have to cover filler one coat has always done the job.One person had mentioned that it looked eggplant purple when first applied. That is true for the Kona Brown paint. But in no time it turns to dark brown. Not to worry. In fact I LOVE this feature as I can tell where I have left off and where to begin as I reposition my ladder.I truly love this paint. It can be used on any surface. It spreads so easily. Covers great. A quart covers a lot of area. It’s my go to paint….

  21. Used to prime fireplace tile before using a roll on texture. Worked perfect. One coat. Also used to cover an oil stain on drywall that kept reappearing. One coat and it was gone. This is good stuff. Low odor. Easy to use.

  22. Very easy to use and works great, especially with any wallpaper project. Great value for the money.

  23. This is the best stuff to use as a primer for shower tiles. 2 coats and the paints I used afterwards stuck like glue with a great looking finish. Can’t overstate how good this stuff is for projects like these.

  24. The can came with so many dents it was hard to open. But after that the Primer did it’s job.

  25. This is a great product that yields stunning results, but be warned, there is a definite learning curve with it and it’s very unforgiving to use even though I have a bit of painting experience. I did my whole house with this, walls and ceilings and I learned a ton about applying it. So I’m going to leave some tips for success that I wish I had had!First off, I applied this over bare drywall, which is possible, but I would not recommend it. I used the recommended roller size, and on the spots that there was mud like corners and nail holes, it would pull the mud off the walls no matter the technique used. I did find a way to minimize it, but it would have been so much easier and less headaches to just use a drywall primer first.Second, depending on what texture you want, you have to roll it on and then let it dry for a few minutes and go over it again to get a smaller more ‘sandstone’ like texture that I wanted. This is a very tedious process, especially because of the previous tip I mentioned. If it gets tacky and you roll over it too late, it will pull chunks off the walls.Third, it drys VERY fast. Like it will set up in 5-10 minutes and you won’t be able to change it after it sets. I had a spot I messed up and thought I’d just wait for it to dry and go over it again to erase it. Nope. No matter how many times I went over it, the bad spot just got more and more visible. You have to work quick and keep a ‘wet edge’ in order to keep hard lines from forming.Fourth, rolling gives a great texture, but cutting in corners and around window trim and baseboards is nearly impossible. Even with the smallest mini roller, I wasn’t able to keep the same texture in the corners. I tried sponges and different techniques with a brush to hide the smoothness and was only moderately successful.Remember the lime wash paint is so thin, that it will not cover any imperfections and it will highlight whatever is underneath, so take the time with proper prep. I used Atelier Lime Paint, and even after all the hassle and work, I would have done it all over again. The soft texture and cool stone feeling has my home feeling like a Moroccan villa and it’s so unique and comfy. You really need the mineral primer to make the lime paint shine to its fullest, and you won’t regret it (even though you may pull out your hair in the process)!

  26. I really like this primer! I find it easy to use, easy to clean up, pretty quick-drying, and very low odor. Highly recommend for most uses! That said, I looked all over before testing this on one particular project to see if it would have a bleed-through problem with water-based stains and didn’t see any good answers, so wanted to share here in case this helps anyone else.I tested this primer on several pieces that had previously been stained (about a month prior) with sAman water-based stain. The stain definitely pulled through this primer, even after multiple coats. It probably wouldn’t matter if the intended end color were dark, but it would have been noticeable on a white or light project.I’d probably recommend going with something like Zinsser BIN if you need to prime over a water-based stain.
