Top 10 best chair mat for carpet for 2022

I like the portability, however, the structure is a bit wonky… I don’t know if it will work as good as a hard plastic shell, seeing that the chair sorta sinks in place….

Now that I work so much from home I wanted to protect the rug and also make it easier to move around in my chair. The office rug is very low pile but at home it was harder to roll the chair and was annoying. The mat was nice and big and gives me a lot of room to move around. It was also a nice option for the price.

Very thick and solid. It does move – doesn’t stay in place – have to adjust it often. I have medium carpet.

I can easily scoot from my computer to my desk. However, the mat inches out of place. I’ve also hung my foot on it as it doesn’t hug the carpet like previous ones I’ve owned.

I am glad I purchased this mat because I can easily move around in my chair now without feeling I will rip off the wheels or the arm rest. It has held up so far but it does have dents where I sit in one place for 6-8hours at a time. I usually take a break 1/2 way through a 10-12hr day and the dents do lessen up. I’m actually wondering about buying a second one made for hard wood floors to just stack on top & sturdy it up a bit more.

I’m a heavy guy (310#) and I bought this thinking: if I get anywhere close to a year of use on this, it’s going to be a bargain. Well, it lasted about 14 months and I’m here to order another. It’s had me rolling around on it EVERY day for those 14 months. Since I’ve been working at home, that amounts to a good 10-12 hours a day of constant use. Plus, it was on a medium pile carpet. FYI – My chair has 5 legs, each with a dual wheel roller.I’d been previously buying the mats that have the spikes on them and come rolled up. They were always a pain (literally) to unravel and flatten out. This mat, on the other hand, already comes flat. Just unbox it and go.The other mats I used showing signs of wear after about 6 months and started cracking after 7 or 8. That would slow down being able to move. THIS mat never showed any sign of wear, or inhibited my movements. Then, about 6 weeks ago, I saw the first crack. Yet, even with several cracks in it, it never interfered with my movements. Until today, 14 months after being installed, it finally had a piece break off.

Was a little difficult unrolling but once I started bending backwards and placing it on the floor it wasn’t so hard. This is very thick and probably the best mat I’ve ever purchased. I have a regular chair and didn’t want my carpet messed up. Absolutely no worries now.

I have been dealing with a disturbingly broken chair mat for a long time now. It was cracked and a large chunk was gone in the front wheel area where the desk has the legroom area. I decided that I would either buy this mat or a plank of plywood as a replacement because the thinner chair mats really just disappoint me.Let me tell you: if you’ve got thick plush carpet and disappointment in the chair mat industry, look no further. This is the mat for you.Now, in terms of quality I would say this mat is likely just straight up cut at the factory and then immediately shipped to the consumer, so there are small imperfections in the edges/beveling due to lack of sanding/buffing in production. Given that I was prepared to go with plywood, this is not an issue for me. There are some “sharper” edges that likely won’t cut you (imagine the feeling of the edge of a paperback book) and some chips from the cutting process along the edges, but they do not affect the funtion of the mat at all. I am not concerned about cutting my bare feet on it.My carpet is about 1/2″ thick, plush, and extremely prone to matting (the cheap stuff they put in rentals). I have witnessed the destruction a chair can have on that kind of carpet and I want my deposit back. So I need to have some kind of mat under my chair. This mat is at approximately equivalent thickness, so it sinks into the carpet and comes flush with it. I have had zero issues with it shifting around. If it does begin to shift around, I plan to get some velcro and stick the hook part of the velcro at the corners.I weigh 160lb in a chair with the rubber wheels. In the previous mats I’ve owned, the first second I sat down, they cracked. This mat withstands me.My only qualm is wishing that it had an inlet to go inside the desk legroom area, because sometimes my front wheel dips off there, but overall I’m happy.

Finally! I have been through numerous floor mats for my home office, which has s short pile carpet. I have had bad experiences with those… they crack or they slide or they bunch up, etc. I had really given up, but the ad for this mat and its reviews sounded legit and I gave it a try. I have now been using this for about a year (also got one for a family member earlier). I use it many hours a day, and I very frequently have to slide my heavy duty office chair on it across the floor. This mat was delivered promptly in careful packaging, and holds up extremely well. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

A number of similar items have questions where people want to know if it dimples. All the hardwood people answer and say no. Well, yeah, of course it doesn’t on hardwood, but what about carpet. Well, this does dimple on carpet, but not like the cheapy ones. I have mine sitting on my old crap thin one that shipped rolled up. There wasn’t a good reason to move it. This still dimples sitting on that on the carpet. HOWEVER… it isn’t bad. I can roll out of the dimples easily and even just moving a little bit I don’t roll back into them. Also it quickly adjusts to the new position. It’s almost like it dimples just enough to prevent me from rolling accidently, but doesn’t stop me from rolling on purpose. So, as we say it the software biz, “It’s a feature.”At least with my double mat setup. I suspect, depending on your carpet, chair and situation it would work without the double mat probably too. I would have loved for it to not dimple at all, but for the price I am very happy. It shipped flat too. If it comes rolled it won’t be thick enough for carpet unless you are under 100lbs.

The mat is exactly what I needed. Durable, good size…. Didn’t ship well though. Rolled up on the box which I expected but the box was smashed and the mat was as well. Guessing something bigger was tossed on top of the box at some point. trying to unroll it was extremely difficult because of that and it is going to take forever for it to settle flat. Still happy with the product, just wish the product didn’t get squished. LOL

Got this as a replacement because I didn’t my carpet ruined with my office chair. Works quite well and I’m hoping this one lasts longer than the one it replaced, that one last about a year and half with heavy usage.

I bought this to prevent my rolling chair from tearing up the carpet in my home office. The mat is a good size and heavy duty, fits under my desk well and gives me plenty of space to move my chair around. It did take a few months to get the mat to lay flat. I guess it was rolled up for a long time in the warehouse and it was holding the shape. I tried heating it slightly, folding the opposite direction, etc. and nothing seemed to help. Over the past few months, it has started to lay flat on its own. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Perfect size for me to roll in and out. It’s placed on my carpet in my home office and works perfectly.
