We tried so many different brands trying to get a good stainless set without aluminum. As expensive as these were they pitted right away during the first uses. The instructions say heat the water first then add salt, we did that but they still pitted. We have 30 year old lagostina that still hasn’t pitted. I’m thinking the multi-layer and deep draw process is stressing these stainless layers too much and they are ready to fracture. The “don’t use salt” is just a way to blame the consumer for faulty manufacturing.
First we inherit our mother’s or grandmother’s Revere Ware copper bottomed cookware. And it is wonderful. Until we realize that the stoves we use are not capable of a true simmer flame like the Chambers or O’Keefe and Merritt gas stoves they used. So, just as we begin to discover French cooking, we begin burning sauces because the Revere Ware heats so easily and quickly. So, we struggle to afford that GORGEOUS Le Creuset porcelain coated cast iron cookware. We finally get it. And it is wonderful. Until we realize that caring for it really is a bit of a pain, and guess what, cast iron, regardless the color, is heavy. Very heavy. Extremely heavy. Not that it’s not a good workout, but it can slow you down in the kitchen while you cook. “Grab that pan and a spatula, and let’s eat!? Oh, wait, I can’t hold that pan over the plates with only one hand. Maybe I can . . .”Then. . .“I know, I know, it was your mother’s china and I just dropped a 15 pound, 12” fry pan on it, I know, I know. . .”So then you’re thinking, let’s try that Revere Ware again. Nope, still burning, ‘cause I still don’t have a decent stove. Why? There are no decent stoves until you get to the $7,000 dual fuel Wolf. So then your try out that new Le Creuset stainless steel, tri ply cookware. And it’s pretty good. Cooks well, not too heavy, but the pan lid handle gets REALLY hot, and the pan handles will burn the heck out of you, as well, so grab that pot holder. So, finally, you get a new stove (yes, miracles to happen), it’s better, and an excuse to shop for better pans, the perfect pans. So, let the shopping and research and tactile testing begin! And it did. For just less than 13 months. I held All Clad, Viking, Le Creuset, Cuisinart— all of them. I held them, I hefted them with one hand and and with two hands. I mimed cooking with them, sliding them about the store shelves, my imaginary cooktop. I put smaller pans into the larger ones to check the weight, and (more importantly) how did that handle feel in my hands with the weight in the pan? Did it hurt my hand? Was it easy to hold and control? I read countless reviews, all the major sites, researched where they are made, how they are made. And I discovered, “Oh, wow, they are making FIVE-ply stainless steel pans. Gotta check that out.” Amazing! Except, that it isn’t. According to the engineers and scientists who examined and tested the theory and the thermodynamics, anything more than 3 layers is a waste of time and MONEY. The five ply is no better than the three ply, and way more expensive. Thank you, All Clad, for finding yet another way to monetize excess! And, the reason I’m writing this, is that I found that the Cuisinart French Classic tri ply stainless cookware hit all the marks, including PRICE. Did I mention that price was important? Well, maybe not price, but value for price certainly is important. I’m not rich, but I’m willing to pay a bit for the tool I need and want if the value is equal to that price. The high dollar cookware, that formula doesn’t work. It’s impressive to have it sitting on your stove, your friends are impressed at how much you spent, and you’re part of the elite club that will spend 2-3 times more than you need to get the most “in” name brand. But is that the point? “Did you at least get a t-shirt with that? Oh, you didn’t, but you got a generous payment plan? Good, you’ll need it.”A pan is a tool. You use it to make something. It works for you or it doesn’t. You like its looks, or you don’t. But it shouldn’t be a status symbol. It’s a tool. This Cuisinart set is gorgeous. Classic French lines. The handles feel great. Finely wrought, well finished, and the indentation for your thumb is perfect. THAT’S how to hold a heavy pan. The grooved handles of All Clad and so many others (all copying All Clad) are just plain uncomfortable to most hands if the pan has any weight in it. The groove is there to solve their problems of heat reduction, not to feel good in your hand. Think about it— smooth rounded surface you control with a thumb indentation (Cuisinart) or two relatively narrow ridges of steel gouging into your hand (All Clad).I have cooked with at least one of these Cuisinart pans (usually 3 or 4 of them) every day since they arrived (almost 2 months ago), and not a problem or fault yet.Fry pan tipping? “Well, darling, are you gonna just scoot it round on the stove or actually put something in it? You know, to cook? ‘Cause if you do, it for sure won’t tip. See, the weight in the pan, the food, will keep it from tipping.” Mine won’t tip even when empty unless I thump the end of the handle. And I’m too busy to spend much time thumping pans.Warping? Nope, not a bit of it.Pitting? Haven’t seen it.I have since bought three more pans to round out my 10 piece set. Couldn’t be happier. My beloved cast iron Le Creuset of 25 years? Holding down shelves in the basement. My stainless steel Le Creuset? Mixed in with the Cuisinart. But if there is a choice as I cook, I go for the Cuisinart every time. Weighs less than the Le Creuset stainless, handles stay cooler, and it cooks better. The French Classic pieces have been around a while, so prices fluctuate. Keep a watch on them, and you can make a good deal.Great pans, great price, great design, great aesthetics, great tools, great warranty— Cuisinart French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless cookware!
I don’t think I need to gloat about how fantastic these pans are. They speak for themselves. I love that I don’t have to buy a new set of pans every five years. So to me the expensive part of the pans is well worth the money in the long run. Very easy to clean by hand, I haven’t put in dishwasher… and I probably never will as I want them to last forever.
The wife loves it. It does not get any easier than that.
Beautiful product and shipping
It is a beautiful set with all claims turning out to be true. At first I put only 4 stars, but changed it to 5 due to the outstanding quality. The only thing I don’t like about these, is that there are no pouring spouts or curved edges. You cannot pour anything from these without spilling, so be prepared. Other than that, love ’em!
Bought a set for my second home. This stuff is great. Heats evenly, toss in DW, use it for all my cooking on stove and in oven. My other set of All-Clad is 25 years old and still perfect.
The pans are fine. Not crazy about the lids. They require using a hot pad to remove them from hot pans. Would rather they came with glass lids. The handles are awkward to use, hard to get a good grip when moving a pan loaded with food.
These are the most expensive pans I’ve purchased but so far, 3 months later, I couldn’t be more happy that I did. They cook very evenly, retain heat well, and are very non-stick. I’ve reseasoned one twice, as I use it 2-3 times a day (all it takes is rubbing the inside in oil and then running under hot water). If you put a little water in the pan after you’re done cooking it practically cleans itself, loosening any stuck bits nearly instantly and then all it needs is a wipe out with a soapy soft cloth/sponge. If you forget the water, a brissel brush cleans it right up. One of the best purchases I’ve made for the home and I’ll definitely be back for more in this line in other sizes.
Best cookware I’ve ever had.Not that i baby these but that there’s a few rules to follow when having enameled cast iron1) never use metal anything to stir or serve food from this, you’ll scratch the enamel.2) always let it cool down after you’re done before you wash it. If you go immediately from hot to cold you will shock the enamel3) when heating up, you do not need high temp setting. You can set ti medium or medium high then let the entire pan get to the same temp and adjust slightly from there. Remember cast iron retains heat very well once heated.4) keep those plastic tabs that it come with so you can flip your lid upside down when you store it!Also love the artichaut green color.
A life time my of cooking every day and always saying one day I will get Le Creuset. Well this is one day and I am in love. The even heating, thickness of the ceramic glaze. The trust that what you what ever effort you put in yelds greatness every time…that is priceless
Bought the full set when we installed our induction cook top in October 2021.Always hand washed. Stacked them for a short period of time, then hung them on the wall. The large frying pan shows what the company would probably call evidence of overheating, though we’ve never overheated them. I think it’s just evidence of actual use. This is frustrating if someone needs to have it replaced under warranty. But after actively using the entire set for nearly a year and looking at pictures from other reviews who complain about quality and customer service, I really question how honest they’re being about how they treat their cookware. The large frying pan has also become slightly warped, but flattens out completely when preheated. This is a concern since the company touts such quality construction. I’m guessing it’s because of the layers and multiple metals used in construction. Next set I’ll buy a solid core bottom and not a layered one. (If I can find that.) Knocked a star off for this.I knocked aother star off because the sides of the pots are not straight, but curve in slightly. While this makes the cookware look elegant, it makes pouring liquids from them tricky. This is the biggest reason I’m about to start looking for a new set.Do I hate them? No, they’re fine enough.Would I buy again? No, for the price I paid, I need to love them.
I just bought the 13 piece set FCT-13 to work with my new induction cooktop and am very happy. The induction cooktop heats them FAST.These pots are very heavy. That’s a good thing, they heat evenly and hold the heat. Only a small woman might find them too heavy. But make sure you get a good grip on the small “ear” handles on the stockpot and dutch oven. There’s only room to get a couple of fingers thru the hole but you have to do it. By the way, the reviewers here who said the handles get hot are right. The small “ears” on the stockpot and dutch oven do get hotter than on the last cookware set I had.I was very pleased to discover that three of the lids were the exact same size and fit FOUR of these pans. A very intelligent design. (My old set had pots with diameters different by 1/2 inch so you were always grabbing the wrong lid.) See photo. All of the pots are engraved MADE IN FRANCE on the bottoms and the handles have FRANCE cast into them… see my photos here. The one exception is the thin pasta strainer insert is not marked.Like all manufacturers, the skillets are measured across the top of the rim. So the usable cooking surface down in the bottom is a lot smaller. The 8 inch/20 cm skillet is 5 3/4 down in the bottom. The so called 10 inch/24 cm unit is really 9 1/2 (although the 24 cm is accurate). Usable 7 inches down in the bottom. Also, the capacity of the pots is measured filled to the brim. In practice the capacity is a lot less because you have to leave room to stir stuff or let rice bubble.Minor quibbles aside, I am extremely pleased with this set and the $330 price (as of today) is a great value.Comparing this to the 10 pc set FCT-10, I really wanted the pasta insert that came with this one for some favorite dishes I like to make. The only other difference is the tiny 1.5 quart (nominal capacity) saucepan which may not be that useful. But at the moment the pricing is so close you may as well get the 13 pc set.Regarding the reviewer here who said one the small skillet was prone to tipping when empty, note that was on the cast iron grid on a gas range. On my smooth cooktop I couldn’t make any of them tip.The shiny bottoms would make this a bad choice for an electric radiant cooktop.
I’m an avid cooker, meaning that 2-3 of my spouse and I’s meals are cooked from scratch (or mostly scratch) every day. I use, at the very least, one of these pots or pans every single day, and usually multiple times a day. They get regular use. I have had these pans for about a month at the date of this review being submitted. (9/7/22)So, I got these pans because they were cute and fairly affordable, but also because I was scraping by with a several year old introductory $20 set of pots and pans from Wal-Mart. When they arrived, I had a few worries, namely the lack of holes in the lids, that the lid handles would burn me and that they would be easy to scratch. So far, the lack of lid ventilation has not been an issue at all, and the handles on the lids have never gotten too hot to touch.I use ALMOST exclusively silicone, wooden or soft plastic utensils… But I did mash potatoes INSIDE of the pan with a metal masher one night and received, in exchange, two tiny chipped spots inside of one of the pots. None of the other pieces have had any issues because of the type of utensils I use, and the soft scrubbing brush I use for washing all of my cookware to avoid scratches. Kind of feeling like this was my own fault rather than the fault of the product, since mama raised me to never put metal in a pot that isn’t cast iron or uncoated stainless steel. I’m sorry mama. I won’t do it again. After checking the reviews and having some time with the pans, I also started to grow afraid of staining or things burning into the bottoms. So far not an issue at all, either. If you keep your burners fairly clean and food-free, the bottom burning is typically not an issue and even if it does happen you’re usually able to scrub it right off. After making crushed tomatoes from fresh tomatoes I did have a struggle with getting the red coloring off, but after a little bit of elbow grease it was taken care of.So far, none of my initial worries about this set have been issues at all, and I haven’t had any outside problems either. Follow the instructions, wash and store with care, and I think they’ll last several years without incident.
I mean it’s Le Creuset. We all know they are amazing. As a home cook who has worked as a chef in restaurants this is the go to cookware. Most restaurants people visit on the regular don’t use this kind of hardware but the fine dinning establishment that you go to every now and again definitely do. Here is why. When a carpenter or lawn guy, handy man or roofer to the every day dad who just likes to get stuff done, they will always use the best tools possible. It’s the same with Le Creuset. It is literally the best tool for any job. The price on this set is outstanding because you basically get the small skillet for free. Any free Le Creuset tool is a great tool. I haven’t scored on durability for the set I got because I’ve only used it twice. Every now and again even the best tools will have a defect so I won’t rate that part yet. The good thing is if there is a defect they will send you another one with basically no questions asked. LOVE IT. Go ahead and spend the extra money. You will never have to buy another one again. Over the lifetime of you, your children and grandchildren it’s actually a bargain.
Expensive cookware set but worth every penny. The Le Creuset brand is simply the best.
Bought this set to go with our new induction top range and we LOVE every piece! They heat so fast an evenly and wipe clean. Stack nicely for storage and are lighter weight than our awful All-Clad set we replaced.
Really nice pans. I’d had my previous Calphalon (with 10 year warranty) set for about 13 years, and finally decided that it was time to let them go. Got these because I really appreciated the quality of the previous set, and man! They’re so good! Food slides right off them. Even soft, flaky fish doesn’t stick. Cleanup is super easy too, as a result.Only complaint is I wish this set included 1-2 of the larger 12″ pans. These are what we use the most, but we had to go and buy those separately.
This is a very expensive set of cookware. It is a joy to cook with and a breeze to clean. However, this set arrived with 12” lid that was totally out of round. The metal rim could not fit onto the 8 qt pot. Clearly a manufacturing defect. When I called All Clad for a replacement they basically told me to Piss up a Rope! They said that they couldn’t replace the lid because I used it. I let them know that I couldn’t use it because it didn’t fit, but they refused to budge. All Clad SUCKS! Thank god for amazon customer service! They have given me the customer service that All Clad refuses to.
I’ve been using a cheaper, non-stick type wok with a flat bottom. This Kitchen Aid 15 inch wok is MUCH better! The 5 layer construction with the aluminum core is deceptively heavy and heats evenly all the way up the sides. The wok is beautiful to look at…the outside looks like a mirror. When I first got it, after washing, I heated it slowly and applied some cooking oil with a paper towel, letting cool slowly. First time I used it, I made fried rice and had some issues with the egg getting cooked onto the surface. It cleaned up but I had to use soap & water to get it cleaned. I continued warming the wok and lightly oiling it after each use. Each time I’ve used it (and re-seasoned it), it seems to have less problems with sticking and the cleanup is easier. Last use, I made a sticky beef recipe. I was able to clean it this time with just spraying it with hot tap water, wiping it dry with at towel and heating/re-oiling the pan. I also bought a “Lodge” brand 15″ glass lid and it works perfectly on the wok! The price is about equal to a high end, carbon steel wok but without all of the hassles and seasoning issues. I can’t say enough good things about it! Hard to beat Kitchen-Aid products. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Just so you know, KitchenAid cookware is made by the same company who makes RachelRay, Circulon, Faberware and many more. That being said, I’ve been looking at this pot/set for a year and finally decided to pull the trigger. The 8qt pot was beautiful. However, after comparing it side by side with Viking, I liked the Viking better. Something about the black handles was weird to me. Also, Viking had more variety of other pots and pans individually. I have a big family and pretty much only use big pots.
I was reluctant on buying these because of the price and not really sure about the quality. I am loving this set and even bought some extra pieces. Worth every penny!
My husband and I love these pots. I thought that following some of the care instructions would be hard, or a real pain, but they aren’t at all. The ceramic coating works beautifully & so much better than Teflon. We got rid of all of our old Teflon pots & replaced them with these and a few stainless steel, and we like these better that the steel. The steel is great but things stick as can be expected, and they seem to have poorer heat distribution than these ceramic coated ones. I though not using very high heat would be a problem, but not at all. If you let them cool before putting them in water/washing the ceramic wont crack or flake, and only use plastic, wooden, or silicone/rubber utensils on them as to not scratch through the ceramic, and they will stay very functional. Egg and cheese won’t even stick to these puppies!!!
After years and years of cooking for a family using a huge set of hard anodized cookware, I was sick of spending time in the kitchen. My old cookware was heavy, and while it was still “working”, I was tired of lugging big pots and pans out to cook for 2. I got this set and I’m back in the kitchen! They’re lightweight, heat up quickly and washing them is a dream – nothing sticks, they clean up really easily! The variety of colors is great – having a color you like and something easy to use really brightens my day.I was worried about buying a less-expensive set but don’t let the price fool you, these are nice pans and an incredible value!
I love these. I’ve been through a few sets because I hadn’t found any I truly liked, but these are perfect. Just be sure not to destroy them by using metal utensils or stacking them inside one another.
These pans deserve an honest 4 stars. This isn’t a knock or slight. I’m docking one star for appearances… the outside finish gets scuffed or discolored when it rubs against another pan or the stove. With minor usage there are already gray scuffs on mine after a month or lessOtherwise I’m very happy with them especially for the price! No rivets for the handle means it’s easier to work sauces and clean the pan afterwards.Aluminum heats and cools fast and the handles don’t get too hot. I have older pots that will have really hot handles after boiling water for a while. These don’t get as bad!Glass lids are nice and fit well. They have a little steam vent which I like but some might not.The light color makes it easier to see what you’re cooking and the full extent of the browning in the pan. You can move the meat and gauge the browning of it by the color in the pan. With dark pans you can’t do so as easilyVery lightweight except for the baseplate which is made of steel. I’m not sure but it seems like it COULD scratch the inside of a pan if you stack them but I haven’t seen it yet.Overall five star product for the price! Objectively without price four stars since the exterior won’t look as nice for very long
These are my favorite pots and pans. I did make sure to follow the instructions saying to not use aerosol cooking spray and only silicone or wood utensils which will help protect the lining. I have had them several months and are still working like new.
These pans are better than the $300 pans. So far they are so much better on performance, and they aren’t falling apart like some of the popular name brands. They do tend to heat more in the middle which i can deal with but they aren’t pealing. Very easy to clean. And I got them in perfect condition and on time. Pack very well. And the shipper took care with the delivery. The variety of pans is very important to me. Because I use more pots than pans. I use them all! Great variety of sizes. Now a days you get a bunch of crap, but not these. Thank you for such a great product my wife is happy with them. Oh more importantly they are light weight and easy for old people with weak hands and arms to work with. Major plus their. The handles are easy to handle. The lids need to fit a little better though, they don’t fit tight or close all the way. Their is a little gap in them. Other than that she makes more meals with these. Happy to cook with them. 😉
I have triply woks, this was 5 ply but it was lighter than my triply ones, which was surprising as more layers mean more weight!
I was hesitant to buy since my current pans were fine. But I love these pans they are incredibly easy to clean even if food sits. Only downside is you can’t toss them in the dishwasher. But I love them enough I plan to add onto what I have the sizes are great and I truly love them!
