Great ball, hooks like crazy, I mean CRAZY! At 14mph, that ball is going from standing at 39, shooting at 25, and hooking to the LEFT gutter before hitting any pins. Amazing
Easy to throw
Ball does exactly what I want it to do. Goes straight to the 10 pin, straight to the 7 pin, and straight to the rest in between.
I’m about halfway into my first season in a league, and the owner of the lane recommended this ball. It’s my first ball chosen based on how I want to throw, rather than shaping my throw around what the ball wants to do. Bowled my first league night with it yesterday immediately having it drilled. Took two quick warmup games to get a feel for it, and then I threw my best 3-game series of the season. Love the ball, can’t wait to get even more comfortable with it. I like to throw a hard ball that holds straight along the right gutter and hooks hard and late into the pocket, and this ball suits that throw extremely well.
I’ve seen another customer state they had one and it was a defect. Is it not supposed to be there?
This picture is after a month of bowling with a 12lbs ball. Didnt want the ball to be to heavy because I really wanted to learn how to bowl. Ball does great in med to heavy oil. When the lane drys up be prepared to get your spare game up.

I’ve bought a couple of balls that I wasn’t impressed with but this one has made me happy so far. I haven’t bowled enough with it to see if my average is improved but I like the way it hooks. Got to get used to it and then I will hopefully remember to come back and update this review.Update……I have now used this ball for a while and my average game has increased rather well. Of course part of that is getting used to the ball but it is very consistent and has a good back end hook on heavier oil.

Had a Hammer psycho for 10+ years and was relatively happy. Just switched to this ball and after 2 practice games my average has gone up by 20/30 pins, honest. I was a 130/140 average bowler, but now I consistently score 180/200 almost every game. I’m still a crappy bowler but this ball has helped a ton. I had the popular purple hammer urethane for a while at 16 lbs and I bowled well with it. I’m getting into my Senior years and by game 3, my arm was ready to fall off. It also appeareded to have durability issues, as it developed several chips. So I dropped to a 14 lb reactive and had trouble controlling it. The thinking was that my speed was going to increase, so I would need the reaction. The reactive ball also picked up and retained dirt, which changed the way it reacted over time. Therefore, I had to keep cleaning the ball. So I read some reviews on the Pitch Black and decided to give it a try. I’m certainly pleased with the ball, although I’m still getting used to it, especailly for spares. With less weight and less grip at 14 lbs, its getting down the lane faster than the hammer did. As a reseult, I have to relax my force a bit and increase the revs. It’s gradually getting better and will be a keeper.
