We have six of these now. We bought the base with one satelite and two additional ones last Feb to give this a try and update our homes phone land lines. The main purpose beyond updating was the spam blocking options. As we all know that needs no explanation everyone gets these awful nuisance calls. (If people just would educate themselves some how never to fall victim to these scams they would die out on their own quickly.) Until that day we non gullibles still have to find defenses…so this was our choice after searching the options out there. I find the whole phone a bit daunting. I hate the voice anouncement it’s voice is difficult to understand and not sure if it can be shut off or not. Husband insists we are stuck with it. But neither of us like it period. Off would be a good opion and in the future hope it’s included. Meantime we have bought three more of these phones for the holidays. We have a very solid wood house built in the 50’s. It is three stories plus a 12 foot deep basement. I know who has a 12 foot deep basement. Anyway it has built in the 50’s blues too as in very difficult to wire or update the wire system that includes phones and phone jacks and power outlets or lights etc. The way the house was built is the biggest obstical..they updated the kitchen a few years before we bought the home by taking down an outside wall and working to upgrade the power via while the wall was down. They have too many cross boards that prevent fishing knew wires and sometimes removing old wires from the walls. Anyway we did not have phone jacks in upstairs bedroom and only one third floor room had a phone jack. We had tried phone jack recharging phones in the house but they rely on those phone jacks too and AC outlets. So as we age we wanted a phone in our bedroom and through out the house in general where we can not get to with jacks. This is the fix for that and it works great. We think we are done with the 6 satelites now. One in the living room next to hubby’s chair in TV and another across the room next to his reading chair. And one in each of our inhome offices/computer rooms. And one each on each side of the bed. And the base is in the Kitchen. What is great is we can grabbed any of the hand sets and take them to the basment if we are spending time there or outside in the summer to the back yard or we think they may work as far as the furthest vegi garden too. We have about four acres here so no doubt their is a limit but to date we can use them around most of the groomed yard which is pretty big area. Hubby can take one out to the garage too if I am not home to pick up the phone and he is expecting a call while working out there. Also the one near his reading chair may end up in the basement. One negative is if you continue to use other older land line phones on same line and pick up a call from those the base phone does not record that number. The message recorder seems to work well. I find too many buttons and not intuitive or clear cut buttons to do sometimes the things you want to do. My husband picked up quicker on these things but leaves me out of the loop? I plan to make a couple of cheat sheets as it’s called to help me out with some of these more often needed how to’s with the phones. Otherwise in general the phones work well. I do wish when you pick up a phone while it’s recording a message that it would continue to record while talking to the caller….because our old land line recorder did and for example this past week a very elderly lady called our number as a wrong number. I wanted to help her and her number was a private number so we could not see it or retrieve it. She was trying to let someones relatives know a neighbor of her’s had passed away. She herself though pretty well had hearing problems and was a little slow. We suspected she dialed wrong but she said our city is what she was trying to reach and the phone number matched. I wanted to take down her name and number and she was about to give them as I picked up the phone…so I could help her locate the people she was trying to reach. The message recorder stopped the moment I lifted the receiver up. So I lost the information I thought I’d have to go back to. Not sure why the old system worked like that to record when interupted but we had used it several times for good and wish this had that option. Though we have tried these hand sets as portable walkie talkies we actually prefer walkie talkies for this purpose when they are needed like summer and winter sprinkler system problems as we have 9 zones that any or all can be leaking or having problems and one stays with the water and or main control box while the other walks about checking on each zone and sprinkler head. Other things from time to time needs a walky talkie but we will stay with the ones for that purpose not these portable phones. We are still a little slow on the uptake and learning curve with them. Over all We do not think any other phone will be any better or resolve the few annoyances or issues we may have with these. They are great about the house and work on every floor and in every room and through the homes thicker walls. Spam is easy to block but one of our buga boos is if you push the block button while the phone is still ringing it goes into a long continuous ring that is annoying but if you hit the buttion between rings it just goes to block and stops ringing? There is no perfect phone system and all will have little things that could be done better no doubt. So far our clarity and no static is fine. We have had on occasion the phone go dead or hang up when we switched from receiver to speaker phone and hung up the receiver. This happens about every 3 times but enough times we no longer hang up the receiver we cradle it or set it off to the side. And we have our base phone hung on the wall and it really needs a bit more angle to keep the receiver more secure. It says it hangs or sits and where it is in the kttchen it needs to hang and so this can be annoying too when it happens. Husband has dropped it more than I have but no matter it could be a lot better design to catch more secure with better ease than it does as they do sell it as a hanging or setting phone. I wish the directions to add acceptable phone calls was clearer. I had a list of callers to do that with and husband in his 90’s perhaps the problem there…refused saying that it is not set up that way. I understand it is. But he’s taken control of the phone basic’s and so sometimes marriage is a compromise and this is one I decided to stand back for now on. (Actuall this phone was based on a bet where I said you could too find a phone he said did not exist with what he wanted and oh sure I already knew they did…and we were dragging our feet for years needing to update..our old recorder started acting up with wrong dates and times etc. So this was the phone we settled on and after the first three satelites worked great we figured out how many more we thought would be good to go with and ordered them in Dec. It can handle more of these portables too but we both think we just need to remember we can take one from it’s cradle and carry it with us to a non phone region of the home. But we are slow on learning to do this. Not the phones problem the people for sure :))) We live on the very edge where cell phone service is often dead. Between us and Kalispell MT a 100 mile drive most of the drive is in a dead zone…so cell phones are not the way to go here if you need reliable phones not just as phone but computer too. Another reason we choose this phone.So number one providing us phones to remote areas of house where phone jacks are almost impossible to wire for these work great. And is our number one need.Second blocking spam callers and spoof call numbers we can block to is great. Yes now and again we have blocked a GOOD number but it is not that difficult if that happens to locate the blocked number to remove from the block list.The portables seem to hold their battery when not in the cradle for even a few hours but have not had them too long away from any cradle so not tested to their specs time wise to date.We have not experienced static and speaker phone works well enough for us. We use often.The biggest negative is the annoying VOICE that pronounces the phone caller by number and or name.The other negatives is stops recording if receiver is lifted and call is answered would be great if it continued to record. The receiver on base phone would be nice if it caught better or was more secure when hung on the wall.
So, we have been getting hammered with spam and robo callers. My wife called her brother and got a screening message that mentioned robo callers and telemarketers and to press #1 to proceed. When she mentioned this I contacted her bother and found they have AT&T as their service provider and AT&T offers this feature to all customers. We have Centurylink, and they do not.So went on a search for a cordless home phone that would screen out “pests”. Panasonic phones do not. Their smart caller is you pressing the “block” button to block calls. Not very smart IMO.AT&T and VTech appear to have a true “smart call screener”, where callers who are not in your directory are asked to state their name and press # (after which the telephone rings and states the caller name, you can answer the call, press the block button to block the call or let it go to the answering machine. If you have recurring robo calls from Pharmacies or other service companies you would like to receive, you can be add the names of these places to a * directory that identifies the name of the robo call rather than by a number and passes them through also. Very handy.Here is something worth noting, if you currently have a cordless phone set in your home, you can continue to use that phone set in conjunction with the AT&T set. Just ensure you turn off the answering machine function on the old cordless phone set base. This allows the AT&T set to answer and screen all calls coming in or pass them through (if you have the caller in your directory on the AT&T set). You can then answer any call using either the AT&T handset or you older phone handset. Bear in mind that you have to have the old cordless phone set base plugged into an actual phone jack to access outside lines and receive calls. Make sense?Programming the new AT&T phone set is pretty straight forward. Just read the manual and follow the directions. It took approx 1 hour to plug in 48 directory entries (allowing forfat-finger” corrections to my input).The only real negative I have with the AT&T set is that your directory cannot exceed 50 entries. I had 56 numbers I wanted to add, but had to pare it down to 48 (left 2 open spaces for any future necessary numbers I may want to add in the future). Many of these numbers are not people or places I am likely to receive calls from, so having them in the AT&T directory isn’t huge. I do have all my phone numbers in the directory of my old Panasonic cordless phone set and if I need to call any that are not in my AT&T directory, I just use an old hand set to make the speed dial call from that directory. My old Panasonic phone set has space for over 2000 directory entries, so I can still use that directory on an old handset to speed dial to everyone/place I need to.Just after installing the phone, it screened out 5 robo calls without our phone ever ringing. You can pick up any of the AT&T hand sets and use the CID function to see how many robo calls you have gotten in a day. If there is a number or name you wish to add to the directory, you can do it at that time. A shame the AT&T doesn’t have 100 directory slots. Hence the 4 star rating.
Many people are disconnecting their land-line phones due to obnoxius Robo Calls. This is the first phone designed to effectively eliminate Robos.I have to keep my land line for my security/fire protection system.So here is a phone with five different methods/schemes for thwarting Robos.My favorite is the method that requires for calleres to state their name AND press the # sign BEFORE their call causes a ring!Of course the robo calling eaquipment (at least for now can’t do that). So my house is now SO QUIET.Note that you can designate numbers that ring right through without any scanning and that there are other modes that either direct all unrecognized calls to the answering machine or let them ring through as well.I love it.VTech is the BEST!Well Almost.I purchased the 5 phone system and wanted to at a sixth. I couldn’t get the system to register the sixth phone.I read on the internet that it accommodated up to 8 phones, however that must be a mistake.In any event — a great choice.
We have always like Vtech brand and I gravitate towards their electronic devices. This has not disappointed us yet. My extremely hard of hearing Hubby can talk to his elderly parents with ease for more than five minutes without having to say, “I’m sorry we have a bad connection, can you hear me now, hello, hello, hello, crap it disconnected!” No more frustrating updates over his Moms health. They charge pretty quickly but do not have a long in use battery life. They are definitely long range, the hubby can walk outside to the greenhouse more than 60 feet away and I can check the mail across the street about the same distance away without any interruption in convo! I would definitely recommend this phone combo! The connect to cell feature is awesome! My father in law just calls my hubby’s cell and the hubby has the option of answering the call on his cell or on the landline. Smart feature!
This is our 2nd set of these phones. Had an earlier model that lasted 10 years. Great range, good sound, many useful features. I like everything about them, except that on new model they did away with the Intercom button on the handsets. Now you have to click through the menu a few steps to get to that feature that we use a lot in our house. That part is kind of annoying.

I’ve had this phone for 2 months now and a long the way I’ve picked up a couple of things that may help others.My environment…My wife and I have our cell phones permanently forwarded to our home phone (VOIP – MagicJack). Why? The cell phones ring 6 times before the VTECH answering system picks up. If we’re home, we use the VTECH phone as our cell reception is terrible.When we first got the phone..Connect via bluetooth and downloaded both our cell address books and had 256 phone numbers in the address book. Hint, you’ll get any TEXT 5 digit numbers that may be in your address book as well. I went thru and cleaned these up. Learn how to fast-path thru your directory.Next (what I wish I knew) – DISCONNECT YOUR CELLPHONES from your bluetooth VTECH phone after you’ve downloaded the address book. The cell interface may be nice but it adds a lot of addition things you need to know and introduces a number if problems and confusing rings that you don’t need. Some of the problems I’ve seen other users report on are similar to what I observed until I disconnected the cell/VTECH connection. There’s a lot to learn with the basic phone usage.I use the address book, WHITE list and STAR name features and all work fine.Block list – I don’t use this as most of the junk calls use random phone numbers in their calls. Blocking a number is almost useless unless you have that ‘special’ friend you want blocked.Observation – because I use VOIP (MagicJack, Vonage, etc), the scammers are using a technology to send their calls straight thru the VOIP service. This means they don’t show up on any of your incoming call reports you get from your phone providers.If your provider is supplying you with the verification mark with the number (ie. [V] 111-1111), it’s kind of useless. The scammers are already spoofing this as well.There’s a lot to learn with these phones, start with just the basics. My 2 cents worth..

Some of the problems I’ve seen other users report on are similar to what I observed until I disconnected the cell/VTECH connection. There’s a lot to learn with the basic phone usage.I use the address book, WHITE list and STAR name features and all work fine.Block list – I don’t use this as most of the junk calls use random phone numbers in their calls. Blocking a number is almost useless unless you have that ‘special’ friend you want blocked.Observation – because I use VOIP (MagicJack, Vonage, etc), the scammers are using a technology to send their calls straight thru the VOIP service. This means they don’t show up on any of your incoming call reports you get from your phone providers.If your provider is supplying you with the verification mark with the number (ie. [V] 111-1111), it’s kind of useless. The scammers are already spoofing this as well.There’s a lot to learn with these phones, start with just the basics. My 2 cents worth..
I bought for the spam call feature which is amazing! To get through the caller has to be willing to enter their name then you get the option to answer your call. I downloaded my cell phone list so it lets those calls through. The only issue is doctor’s office , etc that have multiple lines. They can still jump through the hoops but I just had them take my home phone number off because I figured they wouldn’t take the time.
Great cordless phone to have. Especially love the Smart call blocker! Cut out our daily annoying spam calls. Now the only calls that come through are the ones we want. It is easy to read and the numbers light up and has good clarity. Only problem is the time. I set the time and a few hours later it is three hours ahead of my time, so I have to change the time to my current time again.

Easy to setup and operate. Handset 2 does not require a walk jack to operate; plug it in anywhere.
I only use it work the Bluetooth phone feature and it works great. The base is in my upstairs and I can go to the basement with my cell phone and it still works. The sound quality is decent and it is high quality.
I like the telephone, especially the block call portion. The quality of the phone is way under what it used to be. The one I had that wore out and replaced it with this one was much better-quality, heavier, solid and made of better-quality material. It lasted at least 10 years. I loved it. This one is too light and fragile. The material is thin and as I said so light, one touch and it off the table. It is somewhat smaller than the older one, not good for larger hands. But so far it is passable. The instruction could be a bit more straight down the line, instead, of having to jump from page to page. Just list the instruction, and #1, give plain common English on how to do that action and go to the next, right down the line, instead of jumping from page to page and all the codes & number codes. Some of the codes are not clear in the understanding.

This phone set works for exactly what I needed it to. I started a new job and the phones the company had weren’t great. The old phones had issues receiving voicemails, since these phones have an answering machine, that fixed the issue. I also loved that it was a 3 pack, I put the answering machine one in my office, one in my bosses office and then one in the shop too. The battery life isn’t great, but it’s not terrible either. If you leave it off the base overnight, expect it to beep at you while you’re on the phone. Overall though, I’d say it’s worth it!
I think I like this phone. It’s dense with function. Af first I thought it had no intercom (between the 4 phones in the set we bought) but, as with other pluses you find it “as you travel” through the manual. First thing to do is download the manual to your desktop…believe me you will use it! The booklets (2 actually) that comes with the phone only scratches the surface. Even the digital version isn’t as good as it could be. But read you must and you will find answers and fixes. You can store 100 names in the directory and it will also hold Call ID names. If it’s still usable (as ours was) you can leave one of your old phones plugged in with the answering machine turned off and it will work as an additional location. One thing that’s not great is it won’t stand up out of the charger…can’t imagine why they designed it that way, such an obvious flaw. But…it does have intercom, it does have 1,000 block call ability (YAY), it does have audio assist, it does have handset locator. I’m hoping that they award me a PH.D once I figure out all the options and how to get them on the smart call blocker (2nd booklet), but it’s only day two. And yes, the phones do communicate; so although I had to type in all the numbers (there’s got to be a better way to do that!) when I was done the other three phones had the directory. I had done all this off-line but plugged them all into wall sockets so that the batteries would charge (it recommends a full day or so). Once they were charged all functions were usable off line. I think it’s good value for the money, we loved our Panasonic but it only blocked 250 calls and then I’d delete them all and re-enter as they came back in. These days my credit card, car warranty, “vote for me”, “hello grandma” calls are plentiful. Now … if only my kids would call!
Nice phone, but thought it had call out caller ID. When I tried to activate it, there was none. Item description seems a bit vague for features.
This is a digital phone with a answering machine. You can use just the answering machine or if you want you can set up voicemail. I much prefer answering machine.This phone has the capability to screen out a lot of unwanted calls. There is a whole section about it with different options. I have mine set to just not letting calls through unless they are someone with a caller ID. Sometimes it will rain once or sometimes not when it is rejecting calls.
I like the fact I can choose what call goes through and which ones get blocked, also I linked my cellphone to the phone so whenever I can’t find my cellphone I can just answer my cellphone calls with the house phone.
This phone appears to be a good quality cordless phone. Handset Is much lighter than my previous phone but seems well built. Set up was easy but did require instructions. User manual is fairly long with lots of options many which I will not need. I have been using the phone about 3 weeks now and have had no problems. I honestly love the block call button on the front of the phone one press and a verification in the number is blocked. So far I am very pleased with the phone
I saw reviews, though good, but complained about the tedious task of entering numbers of those you don’t block.Me, I figured if you are my friend or a family member that cared enough, they will sit through the multiple choice to get through to me by pressing the pound sign. After which it’s easy to to enter their number into the exception directory. Easy as pie. When they call a second time, it will just ring straight through.My phone went from ringing 40 to 50 times a day to 3 to 5 times a day, and those times are those I want and like to hear from… Now if you are calling me back the second, third, or the fourth time and each time you have to hit the pound sign to ring through to me, then that means you are NOT taking the hint… lolLove the phone. You will too.
No more harassing phone calls. Every single phone call gets screened or blocked. The scamer’s can’t get through anymore!! This is amazing! This is wonderful! This phone has smart block technology. Before getting this phone, scamer’s would start early in the mornings calling all day. They would never leave a message. I would go daily to my computer and login to The do not call registry and manually enter these unwanted phone calls. It was so time consuming! When the calls started coming earlier at 6 and 7am, I knew something else had to be done. So I started searching for a phone with a ringer that could be turned on and off and that’s how I came across these phones. I highly highly highly recommend!!!
I’ve had these phones for a while now. I love love love them.They reject scam calls and won’t allow calls to ring through unless the callers identifies themselves.Best phones ever.Would definitely purchase them again.
Have a miner problem, one call to manufacturer and the gentleman from there walked me through it. This is a replacement of 10 year old same model. Kinda scared me when phone announced who was calling, nice feature.
Bought this particular phone because i bought similar one years ago and it lasted a long time. Hope this one last long too. Had to get used to a couple of buttons that are different from the first one but other thanthat, very happy with the phones.
We were having some serious issues with our old phone set so I purchased this set to replace them. The installation was simple and everything I needed to get these installed was included in the package. The phones are comfortable to hold and the phone charge lasts a long time and I haven’t had any calls dropped or cut off at all since installing them. The volume control on the side of the base is very handy to use and I can move it up or down as needed. This set has lots of features including an answering system, and the directions for setting up the system were easy to follow. Retrieving and deleting voice messages is simple also. Overall, we are happy with this phone set, the base is sturdy, the volume control is very accessible and easy to use, and the entire system was super easy to install.
