This is a replacement, which arrived quickly and without hassle. Much appreciated. First one was all over the place, so I returned it. This one was pegged at 120° when I got it out of my mailbox. Brought it inside where it quickly matched my indoor temp, so I believe it’s quite accurate. Mounted it outside under the eave and by a window and it went to 105°, although the Weather Channel says it’s only 99°. I have no idea if the WC has instruments anywhere near my house or if they are nearer the lake, river and COE dam, (1-1/4 miles away) where temps are generally cooler, or if they interpolate the temp numbers from larger nearby communities. In any case, I’m happy with the seller and the thermometer is “close enough for govt work”, as folks say. I’m calling it a keeper.
I got one of these a few years back and have been very happy with it. It matched the humidity and temperature on an old Taylor temp and humidity gauge. You can see that gauge in the background of the picture.Well I’m moving and our new place has a finished lower level and I’ll be running a dehumidifier down there in the Summer months to keep the humidity levels down so that we don’t get mold/mildew/musty odors. I want to be able to measure humidity at the far ends of that area and in the middle where I plan on placing the dehumidifier. So, I ordered two more. At around $10 each, I think these are a bargain. My first thought when the two new ones arrived was to see how they compared – see the picture with this review. Humidity shown is 56, 55, and 57. Interestingly, my 2 year old one shows 56 which matches my old Taylor. I am assuming that one of the new ones reads 1% RH higher and the other reads 1%RH lower. This is totally acceptable for this type of gauge for what I’m using it for.I rarely use the temperature measurement but 74.7, 74.8, and 74.1 are all reasonable readings.I’m so glad that I got the additional two gauges and they will be a big help in figuring out where to place my dehumidifier and what to set it at to assure my lower level is kept at a low enough humidity level to avoid any issues.Update: I forgot to mention the humidity and temperature range feature. I think that this can be quite useful. Once you put the battery in and the unit starts, it will keep track of the lowest and highest reading for both humidity and temperature. Now, let’s say that you forgot to turn your dehumidifier on in early Summer – it might get as high as 70 or 80%RH. So you turn the dehumidifier on and it brings things down. You don’t care about that high reading any more, but you might want to see what sort of range running the dehumidifier is giving you. Just push the C/F setting button on the back and hold for 2 seconds – that will reset the high and low for both humidity and temperature – very handy feature! I saw one review that said that it couldn’t be re-set … I’m thinking that person didn’t read the owners manual. 😉 You could also re-set it by simply removing the battery and then putting it back in, but the 2 second button press is the way to go.Aug30, 2022I’m adding an update to this review – I ordered another gauge, you can see I like these. 😉 However I had a problem with it – it reads 4% lower than my other ThermoPro’s – see second picture – I marked that one with a small piece of green tape. I had this problem with one I ordered a few months back- returned it and reordered and the next one was OK.And that said, I have had no problem at all having them last. Some reviewer have reported failures after a short time. Some of the ones I have are around 2 years old now.
I currently have Covid and I need a reliable thermometer. I KNOW I am running a fever, I used an old fashion mercury thermometer to confirm it. 102 degrees. This piece of junk has never read above 97.9. There is no way to calibrate it, so I am just out of luck and $30.Do not buy this!
I was looking to get a humidifier. Before I splurged on that, I thought I first should check what my current humidity was. At the time, I was living in Los Angeles, and it was winter. Both meters read that my humidity was 9% at the lowest. I bought a humidifier immediately because I knew I needed it.The humidifier I got can be set to turn off once the humidity reaches a certain level. I used this as a reference to determine the accuracy of these meters. If I set my humidifier to turn off at 50% humidity, these meters when close by would always read 50%. I’ve cross-referenced thermometers to check the accuracy also, and they’ve always been on point.Overall I’m very impressed with these little things. I love having two since I keep plants in separate areas, I can put a meter in multiple places. I love that they have a kick stand to prop themselves up. They came with batteries and I’ve had mine on for almost a year straight and so far no dead batteries. They’re small and subtle enough to blend into an area. They also magnetize, which is very cool. I’ve kept mine on the fridge before.Lastly the high/low feature could be better. I wish I knew how far back the meter pulls for the high/low data. I lived in California when I got them, and now I live in Alaska. The high/low has been decreasing with time which tells me there’s a drop off of data, because my all time high temp use to be 117, now it’s “only” 101. I wish I knew the amount of time data is stored to pull these high/low data sets. This is my only complaint and it’s so small, it’s mostly out of curiosity than any actual fault of the device. The smiley/frowny faces are a cute touch, they indicate when humidity is nicely high and depressingly low.For the price, and the quality/accuracy, I will definitely repurchase. These are great for houseplant owners that just want a little more data on the ambiance of their plant’s area without breaking the bank. They’d also be good for anyone that suffers from skin/breathing conditions impacted by humidity/temperature.
I had an AcuRite wireless with temp/humidity, and used it for 15 years to decide about going fishing. The outdoor sensor finally died, and I bought another AcuRite. Turns out it wasn’t very accurate — more like AcuWrong. I looked around and found this TermoPro, and I’m glad I bought it.First of all, it reads the temperatures in 10ths of a degree. Secondly, it gives the humidity both indoor and outdoor (which is why I buy these gadgets). Third, you can replace all the batteries without undoing any screws — not like my old AcuRute. Fourth: It uses AAA batteries, but only two in each piece. In the past, up in Wisconsin, we used Lithium Energizers for the outdoor sensor, with temps in winter often around -25 or more wind-chill. Alkaline won’t work in those conditions, so only 2 AAA is a bit more affordable, maybe.Recently, I had to test my HVAC thermostat (turns out it had to be replaced), so I was using a very accurate digital thermometer, with decimal degrees. At the same time, I had the old AcuRite base station near to that thermometer. I saw that without the 10th degree display, I “thought” the temperature inside was a whole degree off. Using the decimal number, I saw that the thermostat would read the “on” temperature when it was over the 0.5 mark (rounding up and down). So I got this unit, and for the fun of it, set it up with batteries, and placed both the base station and the broadcast sensor next to each other, and next to the basic thermometer. It took awhile for the ThermoPro to become “acclimated,” but I was busy so didn’t think about it for an hour. Results (we’re still using A/C here, now in the South): Test thermometer now reads 77.2 inside. ThermoPro reading 76.1 as the Indoor temp on the base station six inches away. ThermoPro “outdoor” sensor shows 77.1 six inches away, also inside at the moment. So about 1 degree off in the Base. I can live with that, since I have the other thermometer too. Outdoors looks pretty accurate, within half a degree.ThermoPro Base Station reading 52% humidity Indoors. Radio sensor shows 49% “outdoors,” right next to the base station (about 2 inches from it). Humidity is pretty hard to read, though, so I’ll trust the outdoor humidity reading “mostly.”As I’ve watched, I notice the two units do swing up and down a bit. When the A/C kicks in, cools the room, then kicks off, the temperatures and humidity tend to come with 0.5 degrees and % points. All in all, it’s a pretty decent unit. I like it a lot more than the new AcuRite I sent back, especially with the decimal point. Is it totally accurate? No….not for $17.
what’s most important in the cold and not fade this summer😀. Also kept get reading of temperature. Outdoor thermometer
Battery compartment door cheaply made.
Probably should have known the price was too good. The outdoor transmitter died after one camping trip. Not sure exactly how long it lasted, but less than 75 days. Tried new batteries and restarting. Even side by side the main unit would receive the outdoor temperature.Update: Found it was the batteries in the base unit. Although it appeared to be working other than not showing an outdoor temp, when i changed the batteries in the base unit it started receiving and showing outdoor temps. So not sure how long the Costco batteries lasted but less than 75 days. Could be normal for a devise like this
Great product at a great price! Accurate and reliable!
This is a great weather station & like all of the features it provides. I’ve had this station for 10 months & recently had a issue where both the internal temp & humidity were “stuck” on the same numbers for days. I reached out to the “service@newentor.com” & got an immediate reply: “Please try to reset the device completely. Please hold (MEM) button for 3S to clear history, then remove all batteries, unplug the adaptor, wait about 1 hour, and plug in the power adaptor & insert batteries again.” This worked great, after the hour the internal facts were updated & has been working great. There was another step to try but wasn’t needed due to it working immediately when powered back up.Another point to make is, per the manual I got with my unit, it didn’t specifically state the batteries provided back up when power goes out when using the power adaptor. I sent another reply & they answered that this is true. So far haven’t lost power, good thing, but confident this will keep working as long as the batteries last.I’m hoping this unit will last a very long time, we’re happy! Again, great product & support!
Very simple and nice looking thermometer. Only had it for a week, but is spot on accurate so far
I live in southern California and it gets really hot and dry out here! In an effort to not overdo it with my humidifier or A/C, I opted to get these hygrometers to keep track of the humidity and temperature in my apartment. I have one located on my fridge (the magnets on the back are very useful for this!) and the other is in the far end of my living room, close to my bedroom and bathroom. They’ve been really helpful to gauge when I need to crank the fans up or if I need to turn the humidifier on. I’m thinking about getting a couple more so I have one properly in my bedroom and maybe keep one in the bathroom.
We purchased this product early this summer as we don’t have a smart thermostat yet and we wanted to be able to see what the temp was in our home while we were away. Forgetting that there was a second reader available, we put the second reader in our second refrigerator that was in our Arizona garage. Plugged in the unit and could read both the house temp and refrigerator temp by placing one of my cameras in front of the reader inside the house. It has worked perfectly up to the present time (Nov 2022)
We’ve had our share of “weather stations” where we try to get a read on the temp outside compared to inside. Either the components had issues communicating with each other, the weather forecast said it was going to rain ever of the year, or you couldn’t read the thing unless your eyes were perfectly in line with the display. We’ve had this one for about a week and thus far – it’s none of those problems. The display is large enough for my 69 year old eyes to see across the room and the forecast doesn’t say it’s raining even though I really wish it would rain here in Texas. There have been those that expressed issues with operation – we’ve had none of those. I highly recommend this product. IT WORKS.
Lol… wish I had paid more attention to the dimensions. Nevertheless, it gets the job done
It is smaller then I like but was cute enough to keep.
I live in central Florida and purchased this ThermoPro pack or 3 to keep an eye on humidity levels in the house and garage. I’ve got one in the kitchen, bedroom and garage. As you can see from the photo, the garage reading is extremely high! At least the indoor units have a much lower humidity reading 😉 I would think they would be great for people with the opposite problem of too little humidity in the home. It would let you know when to fire up the humidifier.
I like the size of this thermometer, but the bracket hung outside only allowed for the viewing to be on the edge of my window. My curtain almost hides it. I wish it had a longer bracket – maybe 3 more inches that would bring the thermometer further out.
IT WAS A GIFT. THE RECIPIENT LOVED IT! THANK YOU
Very nice, perfect size, Thanks.
Purchased two of these to read temperatures in different outbuildings that we attempt to keep from freezing in the winter. Great range of transmission and easy to read the screen. One is set up and transmitting at least 100′ and through 3 walls and a window (it is the first one I’ve had that will work in this location). I ended up putting a sticker on the device showing which readout was the “outside” building temperature, as there isn’t an easy way to tell which reading is the temp. where the device is sitting (if the readings are close to the same). Overall am very happy with the purchase.
I waited about a month before providing a review. The primary reason for the review is because of the “misinformation” I read from others that gave “negative comments”. The only negative thing I would say is, there is a bit of a lag in temperature-update to the display. I use it in my garage. If the garage doors are closed overnight, and it is e.g. 54F in the garage, and the doors are open to the outside temp of eg 32F, it takes a LONG TIME for the unit to update to the (now lower outdoor temp). BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FOR THE PRICE YOU PAID FOR IT! Further, if room temp being monitored is inside a house, the temp refresh rate is a lot better/quicker, and the temp reading is accurate to 1-degree in relative testing to other Thermometers used to compare it to. I would definitely buy another one.
I wanted small, easy to read, and simple to work digital thermostat for my home so I could see what the temperature is in a room. As far as I can tell it’s accurate. I bought two and they change temperature pretty quickly. They do not read very different from my furnace thermostat which has a window near so during the day it never gets the house warm enough until nighttime but noticed at night they are very close in temp and not next to each other so I’m happy. If this changes I will update my post.
Ordered 2021 June 21st. Used the batteries that came with, when they died threw in some Amazon Basic Rechargeable’s. Just barely did the 2nd battery swap 2022 Nov 21st since it died last night. Though I only have the Indoor and 1 Outdoor therm, so I’m not manually or auto switching between multiple. Prob dies quicker if you are. It’s stood up to rain, snow, sleet, hail, 110 F days and some of last years -20 F days. Gets a 5 star overall but 4 star Accuracy cause the thermometer only reads down to -4 F but struggles to measure below +2 F even on colder nights.
This product seems the be accurate (for me) below 60% humidify. I have a hygrometer outlet that shows the same exact humidify you until they reach 60%. This model will then begin to show lower temperatures as the other probe model shows higher. I am going to need to buy more to compare and see which ones match up, but based on how I feel the humidify should be affected in my grow room, I believe this model has a range of accuracy, and not a +- overall of 3% as advertised.Take this review with a grain of salt because I need another device to verify.
First unit received was faulty. Called customer service and a kind and patient man took me step by step through set up. Didn’t work. He asked for my Amazon order number and said they would send a free replacement immediately. Couldn’t find order right away and said I would call back. Found number and called back and talked to delightful lady who arranged immediate shipment of new unit without any need to return defective item. Replacement works great,
This is a gorgeous, well made, attractive indoor thermometer which compliments my decor and seems to be very accurate–and is able to be calibrated if need be. The humidity meter is a nice touch. My only complaint is that an indoor thermometer hardly ever needs to read all the way from -40 to 120 degrees. I would rather the scale was narrower to reflect more normal indoor temperatures.
Bought one and it was perfect showing indoor and outdoor temperature and rel. humidity. So bought another for bedroom and shared the 2 sensors: one on deck and other outside basement. It is a nice feature that the unit will display up to 3 sensors–rotating at 5 seconds per sensor. Since we only had 2 sensors, we seemed to frequently see a blank indicating that there could be a third sensor. Although it was only a max 5 sec wait, it seemed too ofter ;-). With their customer support assistance, I bought a third sensor, and now the outside temperature is always displayed from a sensor. Nice features: moon phase, clock update over radio, current estimated weather, barometric pressure, and estimated weather forecast. Although the date time shown is a little small, that is an acceptable compromise to see the other displayed items easily.
I live in an older coop building that is always too warm and dry in the winter. We can’t control that in each unit, so I wanted these to tell me the internal temperature in my bedrooms and living room to help me regulate my humidifiers. These have already made a big difference in how often and how long I need to run the humidifiers in order to keep the temperature at a much more comfortable level.
Bought these for use to determine room temperatures and balance the heating system in the house. So far they are impressive. When grouped together the temps displayed are within +/- one degree of each other and they also agree with a mercury thermometer used for a control. Display is in degrees Fahrenheit and tenths or Celsius. User choice. A small button on the back changes the temperature metric between the two. There are 4 ways to display the thermometer: (1) it lays down on a flat surface, (2) it has a swing out leg on the back for a stand (like a picture frame on a shelf), (3) it has a key hole space on the back so it can be hung from a screw or small nail, (4) it has a small magnet on the back that allows it to be attached to a refrigerator or other metal object. They are small but still big enough that they are easily seen from 6-8 feet away. The AAA batteries that came with them are an odd brand so I replaced those with batteries I have more confidence in not leaking and destroying the device.I’m happy with them. Have ordered another 3 so I can put one in each vehicle and have another available for use in the house.
