Electronic products are made this way and die around the end of the warranty IF lucky and not 3 months (I’ve been through this 3 times) and force you to buy an entire new unit when you just pop a new battery in. So crazy and wasteful the robotic vacuum industry can is. Super impressed.• Eufy runs for 100 minutes of cleaning time when the Ultra Smart Vac’s need a full 12-24 hour charge before a test/cleaning and an industry standard of 30-40 minutes of cleaning time.• Eufy is THE ONLY ROBOTIC VACUUM TO ALWAYS FIND ITS WAY HOME TO DOCK AND RECHARGE— EVERY SINGLE TIME! Mind blown! I’ve only had one of many vacuums actually find it’s way back and dock a total of 3 times. They ALWAYS claim it goes to it’s Home/Charging Dock, yet never do! I simply cannot believe it!• It has a clever On/Off underneath which will help conserve your vacuums longevity if you do so choose. Something I have never seen and would’ve not appreciated until now after all the expensive duds.• In the video it sounds loud, yet not at all as loud as my other’s. It sounds like a blade less Dyson Fan if you are familiar. i.e Smooth Air Blowing• The accessories like extra filter, sweepers (the highest quality I have ever seen as they tend to arrive bent), comb with cutting tool (should be used everyday you run it and is extremely common with all Vacuums as of yet), etc.• Easy manuals no weird or bad grammar to scare you off that is all too common now.• The sensor is as common as all it will bump things just like a very expensive Vac and is very alert to People and Animals. (Updated has better sensory than any of my other 7 adventures, yeah still bumps but now notice not nearly as much as all other brands).• I am so used to Vacuums never ever finding their way “Home”, so why set a cleaning schedule. Pointless. Eufy you can confidently.• The simplest way to ensure it always finds its way home is to make sure all cables/wires are not on the floor which is common knowledge to Robotic Vacuum owners. No, it won’t destroy cables it will simply shut off and need to be manually docked otherwise your set for a cleaning schedule.• Far too many Smart Vacuums are just too thick to clean under platform beds and furniture and if they cannot fit under I am just not interested. Why have one if it’s not going to do “Spring Cleaning” everyday and keep your home fresh, dust mite and dust bunny 🐰 free? It’s by far one of the most desired features speaking for myself.• My most preferred Vacuum’s have been By Eco Vac’s DeeBot Pro’s (owned 3) most are slim enough to get under most everything and they mop (I don’t like my area rugs mopped so, only tired that once) they have several issues, but have been the Top for me since Eufy which I highly prefer to my Eco Vac M83 PRO that I will be giving away if Eufy keeps up being superior.• Area Rugs… Eufy is highly intelligent when it comes to area rugs from thick to thin (also carpet). My once preferred Vac was okay, but would always have a the toughest time on thin rugs by flipping them and dragging them, also trying to climb her high sheep pelts and getting stuck. Eufy is super smart with its sensor to stay away from fluffy pelts (those are dry clean and sheep pelt brush) AND thin and high pile rugs Eufy has ZERO ISSUE when cleaning. Just AMAZING.• Also, excellent for finding a diamond earring you dropped etc., yes, I absolutely use it to FIND Small Impossible things without damaging!• I feel this covers all the major bases and is an excellent Vacuum I have waited several years for. Simple, slim, intelligent, and still cannot believe it runs over an hour and always always finds its way home to reboot and APPS have no become way overrated and a pain in the butt!Eufy Compared To Ultra Smart $$$$ Vacs:• I have owned 7 Smart Robotic Vacuums; the highest priced being the “Ultra Smart” Neato (returned after nearly a month of nonsense) with Home Mapping Technology at $1K. Sorry, the bigger, thicker, wider, and SMARTER it claims to be in my experience the more dumb it is. It becomes more of a chore meaning you have to reset the map every single time you move something and they are so thick they can cannot get all the dust and debris under furniture like Eufy does effortlessly.• Eufy cleans for 100 mins & always and I mean always finds its way home (something I was always promised, but they never returned even when commanded) so you can truly set a cleaning schedule!• While most all Smart Vac’s claim to dock and charge on their yet ALWAYS alert you over and over that they are stuck or have to be searched for with app, yet, Eufy is always obedient and doesn’t even need that function!I have only seen Eco Vacs find its way home 2x in 3 years now after 3 models (of that brand), Neato never, Dyson Eye never ever again!• It is proven that Vacuums that run in straight carpet lines are less efficient at cleaning. I usually prepare my home before sleeping every night for the roomba to clean. It’s quiet enough that it doesnt wake me and my gf up every night. I set a schedule everyday at 1am. My floors are always clean, whenever i drop something on the floor i dont worry about it anymore.ProsProgrammable, you can run it everynight when youre sleeping or whenever youre goneCleans hardfloors pretty good aswell as carpetsPicks up hairs, and pretty much everything i had on my floor so far for one weekCleans in neat rowsCleans under the couch and bed which i find satisfyingConsSometimes it will bang on your bedroom door if you live in the same floor, and the solution is to put some pillows infront of the door before sleeping.It doesnt clean every single spot, it misses some areas but only very small sections most of the time its unnoticeable.You cant program it to run for a specific time. For example it shows on the app you can program it to run for 45 minutes but when it thinks it vaccumed everywhere it goes back to charge

I had a 600 series for 4-5 years and while it didn’t have the “smart map”, I really didn’t have too many issues. Returning to the charger was the biggest headache. I decided to get this version as it has a “smart map” and I figured it had to be better as it’s not running around like an idiot… man was I wrong. I’ve been using this model (s9+) for 3 months now and this is my experience.I just moved and the house was empty so I let it map the house to build up the smart map. So far, so good. I got the map completed after a few runs and was able to setup the rooms. All seemed well… but it’s not. This version has so many issues that it’s laughable it’s this much.Daily, it has issues and I need to go rescue it. This cannot go over rugs the 600 series could. These are small short rugs, not even half and inch in thickness. It is nice this model does work on black rungs, unlike the older models I had. It is supposed to clean in rows to cover the room but it just runs around like the 600 series bumping into everything, misses most of the room and leaves dirt everywhere. Seriously, how can the new model be worse than the older “dumber” models? The “Smart Map” constantly keeps updating. So if you have a guest room that you keep closed off, it will disappear from your map eventually.Perhaps one of the biggest annoyances is that when this runs into an issue. It almost always has to be put back on the charger then a new job need to be issued to it. It cannot continue from a job if it gets stuck or runs into any type of issue. I have had so many random error codes, mostly 38, that happen for no reason at all. Seriously, it’s cleaning then stops and says the error code. At least with the 600 series, it would continue when I fixed the issue like it eating a sock or something. The issue is not my home network as coverage is very good and i have over 1GB speeds (I have a professionally installed network, better than your typical home network).The iRobot app and network is garbage and when it’s updating the “smart map” it blocks any commands from the app to the unit. The “smart map” update can take a long time too. I’ve seen it take over an hour before. Also, any commands on the unit won’t work either when the map is updating. What is annoying is this seems to happen every time there is an error too. So when an error happens, it’s useless until the map is updated so you cannot even get it to continue the job it was supposed to do. Then when it finally saves the map, the job is lost and I need to reissue a new job for it to do anything. So frustrating…I cannot recommend this product to anyone. It feels more like a product that is in testing than a final product that is being sold. It has so many issues… many more than their older “dumber” models. I have clean floors with rarely anything on them. Yet, daily, this model fails to complete a job and always runs into an issue. It rarely cleans an entire room and many times I can see dirt left in a room after it “cleaned” it. The 600 series worked better than this from my experience.The only part of this that is nice is the self-cleaning bag. This works great.

I got this because vacuuming is always the “stretch goal” when I’m cleaning my apartment (meaning it doesn’t get done), and also I shed like a golden retriever. My carpet was, frankly, gross. Any time I rubbed my hand across it in circles a few times, I’d stir up enough of my own discarded strands to build a hairball homunculus. Not great.This Roomba, however, IS great. The E5 (mine is named Emily) is actually much better at vacuuming than my regular, non-robot vacuum. She requires fewer passes to get a deeper clean, AND she’s not reliant on me making the choice to spend time vacuuming. Amazing, exactly what I wanted. On her maiden voyage, she gathered an intimidating amount of hair (which I then had to remove from her whipper arm and rubber, non-tangling rollers), but has found less and less on every trip since then – she’s made a noticeable impact on my floors.However, she does lack any kind of mapping capability. This limits what I can tell her to do – she doesn’t support cleaning specific zones, because she doesn’t know where they are. She just wanders through the apartment, somewhat at random (STILL better than I would do it) and eventually finds her way to her home base, most of the time.Emily has no way of recalling the location of her home base, so she just moseys until she can sniff it out with its line-of-sight infra-red signal. I moved the base to a central location of my (650 sq ft) apartment and she’s had better luck finding it, but I can’t figure out how she decides whether it’s time. Sometimes she just abruptly decides her work is complete (with a 60% full battery and not-full dust bin) and sometimes she cheerfully trundles on at an alarming 10% battery, with no indication she’s even thinking about it. I usually get nervous and send her home via the app (once she gets the signal, sometimes I try to help herd her by blocking her from the far reaches of the apartment).I do have to empty her dust bin after each journey, which I’m not bothered by, but you might be. I also check her arm and rollers each time due to the aforementioned gobs of hair, but this is not strictly necessary. I would characterize Emily as moderately loud – it’d be annoying to do a phone call or watch a movie while she’s running, but having a conversation in the same room is no problem, and my cat doesn’t seem overly bothered by her. She does get louder on hard floors than on carpet.Overall, if you’re expecting a smart robot that will strategically clean your entire home and then go back to its base in a logical fashion, this is NOT the robot you want. Emily supports one scheduled start on each day of the week, so she’s actually doubling as my alarm clock, which is a fun bonus. I’m just having her run every day on a schedule and letting her wander as her whims guide her, on the assumption that she will basically cover everything over the course of the week. If I really, really needed a specific area cleaned, I’d pick her up and carry her there before setting her loose.Perfect? No.Way, WAY better than I was doing? Unquestionably yes.

This is my first foray into robot vacuum cleaners. My daughter has one and she suggested an iRobot model since she owns one and they seem to be the major player in this space.As I did my research I came to understand that there are many iterations of iRobot models at different price points. After some research I decided on this model, the 692 which is very similar to the model 694 which is sold by some retailers but not all retailers. There is a good You tube video that reviews this model and the 694. I recommend you watch it. Also Amazon allowed me to pay it off with no interest over 4 months.Let me also point out that I also needed a robot vacuum cleaner because we recently adopted a cat from the local animal shelter but unfortunately they didn’t tell us he had been treated for fleas and that we would need to continue that treatment. Needless to say we developed a pretty good flea infestation and we live in a 2 level home. The first 30 days seem to be critical in getting rid of fleas and vacuuming is the key if you’re not going to use a professional exterminator with chemicals. When the exterminator said we would need to clear out of the house and take our new pet too I knew that route wasn’t for us.We ended up putting baking soda, salt and diatomaceous earth down on the carpets multiple times in different combinations over a 3 week period so that there was a lot of natural chemicals on the carpets that had been vacuumed up by our 2 upright vacuums, the steam cleanings and yet I was to find out there was more powders in the carpetsI should point out that we own 2 Dyson vacuums, 1 is designed for pets and the other is a “light-weight” version. We were vacuuming once, sometimes twice a day for nearly a month. In addition we had steam cleaned the carpets a couple of times, once professionally. By the end of the month we were exhausted vacuuming 3 bedrooms with deep pile carpeting that is only about 3 years old and 2 hard wood floors downstairs. These vacuums were a bear to move around. Not to mention that you MUST empty the canisters once you vacuum when you have fleas so this added to the work load.Enter the iRobot 692. I had low expectations so that if it did a great job I would be pleasantly surprised but more importantly it would relieve my wife, son and myself from vacuum duty.I set it up without much of a problem using their quick setup guide and putting the app on my phone.I set it loose on my carpets and sure enough it was off and running. At first I was amazed by its yeoman- like abilities. It seemed to be able to get around furniture without too much difficulty. It functions best if you can remove obstacles that might be in its way like electrical cords, furniture that can be lifted off the ground and of coarse pets.When it finished my bedroom (18×13) it took about an hour and twenty minutes. I immediately took the unit outside to clean the tray. The tray has a built-in filter and when you empty the tray you MUST clean that filter too. Otherwise it won’t clean to its best ability. Pay no attention to their recommendation that the filter should be cleaned once a week. Even without pets and the powder we had laid down I STRONGLY recommend that you clean the filter after each useThe Good-After all this I can say the robot cleaner is helpful because it does indeed clean your carpets. For us, it means we don’t have to keep lugging the Dysons upstairs and then downstairs and for that alone it’s worth it.The tray still collects some of the powders that had been left behind by 2 Dysons, a professional steam cleaner and my own steam cleaner.The Not-So-Good-After every use you must clean this machine. Not only clean the tray but the filter too. I own a power tool compressor and I must fire it up every time I need to clean out the iRobot. Not only the tray but the brushes, the wheels, spinning sweeper and the unit itself. It’s a must otherwise you’ll need cans of Dustaway to clean the unit if you don’t own a compressor.The tray seems to load up with what looks like a big dust ball which I now suspect are carpet fibers which means it could be rough on carpets.Which brings me to the last point. Fibers that hang from the under side of my living room couches wrap themselves around the spinning brush and the roller brush (see pic). I must spend 10-15 minutes every time I clean the tray to cut away these fibers that wrap it self around everything. It’s a major pain in the neck.It bumps into furniture quite hard. It has several scars on the unit already. Some of my furniture is pine and it has some minor dings from the unit.Lastly , it will need maintenance. The rollers, the filer and the brushes will need to be replaced regularly and that can be costly.If I didn’t need the iRobot for the flea control, I probably would keep it because it does help reduce the need for a proper vacuuming especially since my wife and I are north of 60 and we have better things to do with our time other than vacuuming and this makes a good substitute for having to vacuum every week or so.Recommended with caveats.Update 3-18-22 – The fleas are gone (we think) and now I’m running the 692 for general vacuuming purposes.Here are some additional observations I feel I can confidently state. First the app is not very sophisticated. From time to time there is a delay from the time the 692 is finished to the time I get notified on my android. Which brings me to my second point, I have to babysit the machine in order to see if it has finished its cycle and that it hasn’t gotten wedged somewhere because again, there is a delay in notifying me when this happens. I know there is no problem with my internet because I live in a small 1300 square foot home with 400/20 download/upload speed.Also if I want to stop the 692 from cleaning in one room and bring it to another room I can’t just stop the operation on the app and this causes some confusion for the machine because if you moved it to another room you have to start it again but it thinks it’s in the same room and you have restarted the same job.I took the extended warranty because I can see this machine is not going to last. I took the 4 year warranty because I can see that the internals (the battery and the guts) are not built to take a beating that using this machine everyday or every other day is going to dish out.Currently the 692 is selling for $215.00 and dare I say it’s a steal at the price. I would say it’s a good value all the way to $250.00. I got this J7 plus on sale for $599 so for what I paid it’s a really decent vacuum. I’ve owned a lot of iRobot Roombas for the past 20 years so I consider myself sort of an expert. Also keep in mind I do not hand out 5 star reviews lightly. This one gets 3 stars because I had some issues with the app, and getting it set up. I also can not use the function where you look at the photos with my iphone 11 pro max. I was finally able to do the set up using my OLD ipad air 2. I find it unacceptable that the app will not work for one of the main features or to set it up, using my newish Iphone on the latest iOS software. In talking to other users this problem is common. Had I not had the old iPad I would have had to return it because without connecting it to wifi via the app, it’s worthless. Once I got it set up, I can do the schedule etc from my iphone but it won’t show me the photos for the obstacles it finds. I get the error message on my phone but if I open the app on my iPad I can see the photos and deal with them. I do not like that I have to go get out an old device to do it and do not understand why iRobot does not deal with it. I also tried to contact them about it and got no response. I might end up just turning off the feature because it’s not that big a deal to me. I did try turning it off and was hoping it would shut that light off but the light still is shining even with the feature turned off. It seems like it would waste power having that light on all the time and if I don’t use the feature why is the light still on?Ok so on to the actual vacuuming. This model does an great job on hard surfaces but does not really do the greatest job on carpet compared to my older 980 which had a carpet boost setting that most of the other 900 robots lacked. I also liked that I could set my 980 to focus on cleaning and could turn off edge clean. It’s probably silly on my part but I like to see the neat lines on my carpet after it cleans and it seems to do the back and forth cleaning with the j7 and then go around the edges so I see these deep marks on the edges and going around any furniture. I liked that I could turn that off with my 980 so I just saw neat rows. I could always go turn it on once in awhile but honestly that edge feature is more important with hard floors, than it is with carpet.One other thing I find odd is that the app shows me carpet the robot has detected, yet there are no settings for changing vac power level and it does not act differently on carpet, so why is the thing worried about detecting my carpet?I ended up having to set it to clean twice once one way and once across what it vacuumed to get it as clean as it got it with my 980 alone. I probably would have been better off going with the s9 for carpet but I did not want to pay that much and upstairs there is not as much dirt so it does and acceptable job. I just think they could have given it a little more power and more settings. on vac power.I love that I can set it to do certain rooms, and no longer need those dumb walls. In that respect it’s so much better than my 980.One other thing it seemed my 980 did better with was area rugs in the bathroom. My 980 used to knock them around a bit but did not get stuck on them. The j7 gets hung up on the little cotton rugs on the floor. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with that. I want it to clean our bathrooms but it’s a pain to have to pick up the rugs each day so for now I turned off the bathroom cleaning.The self emptying feature is great. I do not have to empty the bin and once I do have to empty the bag it seals and goes in the trash without me having to get a puff of dust all over. I also love that they lowered the height with this self emptying bin so it’s not a huge tower. I’ve been running it 3 times a week upstairs for over a month and have not had to empty it yet. I’m thinking I might just change it at 2 months if it does not give me a notice that it’s full. I can feel stuff in there but I guess there is room for more. I’m not sure what has to be in there to trigger it needing to be changed. The bags to me seem reasonable. Even the irobot bags are only around $5 a bag which seems reasonable considering I’m not having to change it often, and it’s worth it for me to not have to deal with the dirty dust puff all over my cleaned area. It makes me want to upgrade my s9 to the self empying base and I might do it at some point if they lower the height of that self emptying base too.Over all this is a decent robotic vac. It’s great if you have hard floors but with carpet it’s just so so. I’d prefer a deeper vac power for carpet, but it’s passable.Thanks for reading my review

This is my third robotic vacuum. The first two were epic fails (neither of them had the app for home mapping, which is a feature I feel is a *MUST HAVE* if you want your vacuum to run correctly.) I can’t believe I actually paid $650 (with tax) for this one, but I have to say I’m pretty happy I did. Overall, the Roomba j7+ is an awesome way to keep your house tidy—with a few exceptions. See below:The good: The first day was intense. It took a total of 8 hours (including two breaks for a recharge), but I finally got it to map out my house. It’s an open concept design and on Roomba’s map, I unfortunately couldn’t tell where some rooms begin and others end. The placeholders (rugs, doorways, etc) aren’t set to scale, and sometimes my estimations of the boundaries were way off based on Roomba’s diagram. Part of the problem was my fault because I was so picky about getting the boundaries accurate.Once it was all set up, Roomba and its software really showed its strength. I was very impressed with how efficient it was at cleaning. It even readjusted and learned better ways at cleaning tight corners after taking a few trips around the same space—proof that the vacuum truly does get smarter over time, as is promised. This was a welcome surprise because I usually have to vacuum daily due to our pets.The bad: The living room is the only room where the Roomba completely failed. I tried running 8 separate cleaning sessions on this room, and it only seemed to get more confused over time. It’s your typical rectangular room with a couch, multiple chairs, end tables, a few planters, and a coffee table on a rug in the center. The rug is a high pile, so I never expected the Roomba to be able to tackle it (even traditional vacuums struggle with it). Surprisingly, the Roomba *was* able to make its way over the rug, but only after fighting and curling the rug every which way, which I fear will damage it in the long run. … AND… It never correctly identified the rug on the map. If it had marked it as a rug, I could have drawn a shape over the area and marked it as a zone to avoid. But without the map, I have no idea where the rug is in the app. I tried making an estimated guess, but it ended up missing important parts of the living area off the rug. And each time I edited the rug, I had to run the vacuum again to re-map it. I finally gave up. This will just have to be a room I continue to vacuum manually.The fugly: After cutting my son’s hair, I figured I’d let Roomba clean up the mess instead of cleaning it myself. MASSIVE MISTAKE. The Roomba gathered all the hair into a tidy pile on the bathroom floor, then proceeded to mow right through it and drag huge clumps onto the rug over by the shower! Then it backed up and ran more clumps over the rug again. After it had sufficiently painted the rug with hundreds of tiny hairs (which I swear I’ll never be able to get all out), it went outside its boundary and spread more hairs into the bedroom. I was convinced that Roomba would somehow fix this based on its dirt detect technology. But no, instead of going back and cleaning up the mess it made, it traveled merrily back to its home base, leaving a long trail of hair behind it.On the clean-up summary, there was no mention of dirt detection, and no indication of an irregular cleaning session. Lesson learned, and I was the idiot for sending a robot to do a human’s job. I won’t make the mistake again.All that to say, I wouldn’t trust Roomba again if there was a mess to clean up, such as spilled chips. I’d be afraid the vacuum would just crush them and spread the bits all over the house. Where it really seems to excel is cleaning small day-to-day things, such as dust and pet hair. It does a really solid job of this. My house was already clean when I started using it, and I’ve watched each day as it cleans up new clumps of pet hair and little bits of dust and debris. Overall, I’d say it’s a good vacuum for “maintaining” an already clean home. For that, I’m still pretty happy. It saves me a lot of work. I run its cycle daily and it’s so much nicer to not have to do the work myself.

There’s a lot of “wow” to the new post 600 series Roomba, but unfortunately most of it never makes it off the back of the box or the online item description to actually work in your home. In a word, I’m “unimpressed”, but if were to use more words I would also say I was annoyed, aggravated, exasperated, perplexed, angry, and surprised (both in good and bad ways).Let me just cut to the chase — I returned it. The main reason why I returned it was because the much touted “Smart Mapping” feature simply didn’t work. With the i3 model, you can’t have the vac just learn the Smart Map of your house while it vacuums. Instead you have to send it out on a mapping only mission, where it doesn’t vacuum at all and instead uses the battery just to find it’s way around your entire house with the idea that once it’s done it will creat this editable “Smart Map” so the next time you want use the vac you can just tell it, “Clean the kitchen, living room, and family room”. After wasting a total of 8 hours (4 hours twice) supposedly “unlocking the Smart Map feature” by creating my first Smart Map, I still had no editable Smart Map, even though in the history it showed that he vac went literally all over my 3800s/f home.Okay, so I can’t use one feature — why is that so bad? Well, the problem is that all these new Roomba models are completely based on that feature! Since none of them use a random vac pattern anymore, they need to be able use a map to know when their job is done. Unless you successfully create a Smart Map, that job everytime will be your entire house. Since there is no other way to like remote control these vacs start in a particular room or only clean part of the house, you have to be able use the Smart Map feature. Also, because it use row by row movement instead of random, the first time the vac runs in your house it takes a LONG time to figure things out, so unless you want it to take the same long time every time it needs to have a map to move around and do the job faster, even if it’s doing your whole house. Another reason why this feature is important is because I also bought the iRobot Braava Jet M6 mopper, which also uses Smart Map and is supposed to share information back and forth between the Rooba i3 and the Braava Jet M6, specifically the map. Not being able to tell a Roomba to go vac one room is one thing, but the Braava Jet M6 can’t mop your whole house every time. You HAVE to be able to tell the Braava to go mop like only one or two rooms. Well, the Braava does figure out the Smart Map as it mops, so it will eventually learn the whole house. However, I was hoping to use the supposedly quicker Smart Map creator of the Roomba i3 to create a Smart Map of my house to immediately share with the Braava. But nope — that’s not happening. So now I have to wait for the Braava to run like 4 continued mopping/charging cycles before it will finally learn the Smart Map of my house.So because that one feature isn’t working, this “high end” original robo vac actually performs much worse than my much cheaper (yet better featured?) Coredy hybrid vac/mop that it was supposed to be replacing. I welcomed the Coredy vac back with open arms after dealing with all the Rooba frustration/annoyance. But before you think I’m just being picky about this one feature, the i3 has numerous other issues, too:1. It wasn’t able to go over a single rug in my house. Not a single one. No matter if it’s a rubberish mat, low shag, cotton like cloth, etc. it wouldn’t transition from the tile/hardwood floor to the rug. Sometimes it would roll it up under the wheels, stranding the vac with its butt up in the air until it screams for help. Someetimes it would suck up the corners of the rugs in the “no tangle dual roller system” (I don’t think they know what “no tangle” means). It’s so bad at transitions it wouldn’t even go over a lamp cord on the floor and there are several rooms in the house that go from tile to wood so they have a raised tile or wood transition, and it would get stuck on top of that. Seriously. It’s only like 1/4″ high and it could barely get over that.2. Although it had trouble going over tiny transitions, sometimes it would actually do almost like a kind of wheelie going over things it shouldn’t and would actually strand itself with most/all wheels off the ground.3. The i3 is surprisingly tall, wide, and just big. Basically it fits under VERY little in my house — including just the kitchen cabinet overhangs. It also won’t fit between my rather standard dining room chair legs, kitchen table chair legs, or bar stool feet. It also gets stuck/wedged trying to go under my rocking recliner chair. My Coredy robot vac fits in all these places (and more) no problem!4. I cannot emphasize how annoying it is that you cannot remote control this vac, like to get it where you want it to clean, or if it misses something and you want it to go back, or it gets stuck, etc. There should be a way to control/steer this vac from the app (or at least from an included dedicated wireless remote control). This is especially needed when the Smart Map feature simply doesn’t work.5. The dust cup on the i3 is less than half the size of the dust cup on my Coredy vac. That’s actually okay though (not really) because it picks up less debris than my Coredy vac does, so although it’s difficult to determine a true suction comparison (since iRobot only lists it’s suction power as compared to its own 600 series Roombas — like 3x, 10x, etc.), I suspect that my Coredy vac has stronger suction.6. The battery on the i3 doesn’t last as long as my Coredy vac does. I don’t know what the specs are of either batteries, but I know it’s must be significantly different because the Coredy seems to clean better (stronger suction) and the battery lasts almost twice as long.7. Even though the advertise it as specifically NOT doing this anymore, the i3 still slams into things just as much as I remember my first Roomba doing over a decade ago. Again, my Coredy vac doesn’t do this, so although they both use a bumper technique for navigation (rather than lidar, lasers, cameras, etc.) the Coredy is much more gentle. I thought my wife was going to destroy the i3 when it started repeatedly slamming into her beloved Wolf oven (KABANG KABANG KABANG!)I’m sure there’s negatives I’m forgetting, but that’s most of it. It was mostly an annoying/aggravating experience.Okay, on the positive side — there’s only one. I’m mildly impressed with the straight line row by row vacuuming. I’m one of those people who will go nuts watching the usual robot vac randomly clean the floor completely missing a big chunk of debris for HOURS. This new method/technique should definitely solve that syndrome, but unfortunately without the Smart Map feature it’s just not a very viable method of cleaning.So, my summary would be the same as it’s been since I bought a Roomba over 10 years ago. Do not buy a lesser model Roomba. You can spend the same amount and get a really high end, well featured non-iRobot brand that will do a much better job. That being said, even though I could buy it, I’m not going to buy iRobot’s top of the line Roomba either. I simply do not trust that will work as advertised any better than their lower end models do (don’t), and they definitely haven’t earned my trust in their products enough to pay $1000 for their top of the line model.

This was a gift but I am getting raves. I own 3 other robot vacs and have the following reviews on them.I live in a multi-level town House. We use three robot sweepers. The first is an iRobot roomba which we have had for more than a dozen years and gone through two replacement batteries and one set of brushes. This now takes care of two large rooms and even does the concrete area around the furnace and water heater. It used to do carpets and area rugs when we had them. It would find dirt after you had already cleaned your floors. This year, I bought a Kyvol to use in a mobile home in FL https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71V33TGoi5L._SX522_.jpg because it was so cheap. My wife was so impressed with it that I brought it back home with us. The Kyvol seemed to clean as good as the Roomba at a fraction of the cost. The only and minor downside to either is emptying the dirt bin. I use a 1½ paint brush and an air compressor to blow out the filters. It then seemed like a good idea that since we had two full flights of stairs, we should get a 3rd unit. It will climb over area rugs but not shag. It does the job perfectly. I am fascinated by the way it negotiates around the room, much more efficiently than the old Roomba. I don’t know if it maps out the room like the newer Roomba does but it was fascinating to watch it the first time I set it up. Every time it hit an obstacle, it backed up and paused like a little kid trying to figure out its next move. It seems to be the best of the three units for navigating. It is definitely the easiest to clean. No brushing. No bags to buy. Perfect for what we have it doing. I would not recommend this for use on carpets. It does not have a roller or brush. It works solely on vacuum power. It’s a vacuum stick without the roller.Then, I bought the Roomba i3+ as a gift. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71wzZxJ0dZL._AC_SX679_.jpg This is incredible in that it will map out every room in your house and clean them on your schedule. It will then empty itself out. Once a month you need to replace the bags. If you can afford it, this would be my number one choice. In fact, I wanted to buy one for the mobile home but my wife doesn’t want to pay the price. If you want to save money, you can’t go wrong with the Kyvol. Just don’t expect to get more than you pay for. If you want a self driving brush-less electric broom that is easy to empty and doesn’t need bags, you can’t go wrong with the Easy sweep.

Just love, love, love this machine! I nicknamed it ‘Puck’. Maps out out all the rooms in my house, can be programmed for specific areas, on specified days and times. It’s a great communicator via the app, providing maintenance info, tips for improving use, and a setting to know when parts need to be changed or things get stuck in the brushes. A great cleaning machine I can’t do without and worth every dime!

I’ve been wanting a robot vacuum for years but never could pull the trigger. We’re a family of 4 with 2 kids and a dog so it gets pretty messy sometimes. I actually have 2 working stand vacuums but neither one has ever been that great (broken parts, bulky, smelly, low suction…). I hate using them so much, I figured it was time to invest in a new one with better quality. So I realized in my research that this model Roomba has really good reviews and was more affordable than I thought it would be. A decent stand vac is probably comparable in price but since I’m investing in the product anyway, may as well get the one that’s also a service!I got it delivered same day (yesterday! I haven’t even had it 24 hours!) and set it up and had it running in a few hours. Now let me tell you, I probably hadn’t vacuumed in a month and our floors were DIRTY! This little work horse got going right away and does not stop! She goes under furniture I haven’t bothered to move in years. She whips dirt and debris from wall edges and then sweeps back around later to suck them up. You can’t help but watch her go! It’s like, you start to root for her to get in a tight squeeze under a chair or over a metal bar to get to where she senses dirt. I find myself stopping and saying “you’re not going to try and go under that are you- ohhpp there you go you did it!!” She does NOT back away from a challenge and will kind of nudge closet doors or blocks out of her way. Sometimes she’ll get caught on a errant blanket or bedskirt but it’s kind of funny to stumble upon (or be alerted by the app) that she’s stuck halfway up a piece of fabric. She almost seems annoyed like – “can you get this out of my way, I’m trying to work here.” I hope this doesn’t discredit my review but I swear it’s almost like she has a personality. So yeah, I could say more but I’m so pleased with this purchase, I just had to share!

While this seems to be a great entry level not vacuum, the most frustrating thing I’ve experienced is that it gets stuck in corners and can’t seem to find it’s way out, or it will get caught on something odd. You can’t leave it to run while away because of these quirks. It won’t find it’s way home if the base is in another room either. Cleaning wise it has done a decent job and I’m very satisfied with that. It’s not quiet by any means, minor annoyance. It’s quieter than a regular upright and louder than a small fan. Will update as time progresses.Update 11/08/22: photo added where it got stuck, twice, in a corner with plenty of room and open space, with app telling me it was “at the edge of a cliff”. Oookay. It’s like a child, you can’t leave it alone. I’m now looking into other brands and seriously considering returning it. I don’t want to babysit this thing.Update 111622:I did end up returning it to get the upgraded J7 that has mapping features. That’s what I wanted in the first place but I was not well enough informed. I ended up purchasing from Bestbuy because what I see a lot in the reviews here at Amazon are a lot of “did I get a dud” or a lot of “it was fine until a month later” which indicated to me that Amazon is not handling returns correctly. Or simply sending out returns without proper testing in order to turn that profit. I don’t see very many of those kind of reviews elsewhere. I think the problem is Amazon, not the manufacturer. I do like the j7 a lot better with the mapping features. It is a lot more quiet than this model as well. It doesn’t get stuck either. That little Dobby will fight with the obstacle until it’s unstuck.

I previously purchased a Debot because it was a less expensive alternative but nearly every time I ran it, it would get stuck somewhere or it would suck up a cord or get stuck somewhere. It had no sense of direction and would completely miss areas. It would randomly start cleaning at 2 or 3 am, get stuck and start beeping.That is not the case with the J7, it navigates beautifully, remembers the layout of your floor plan and does a fantastic job cleaning. It also works with Alexa, can be controlled by your phone and the timer actually works!Though it was a few hundred dollars more expensive, I am very happy with this purchase!

I bought this because I have a hard time getting round to sweeping and vacuuming my floors. I have mostly pergo type floors, but quite a few area rugs, so have had to usually use a mix of a broom and a vacuum. But it’s hard to get around the house and to all the dust. There is an accumulation of occasional long hair, and also of dog hair in the house, and I couldn’t stay on top of it all.Enter the roomba. It charged easily, and it’s also easy to set up the app. I sent it on its first all-house clean, and I swear I wanted to throw it out of the window. It went over the same ground for about an hour. It kept getting stuck. Super frustrating. But, I stuck with it. I moved it when it got stuck, and over time I learned that you have to make sure there is nothing for it to get stuck on. So that’s a positive – it makes you clean things up off of the floor!I have now learned to mostly leave it doing its thing. It has a weird repetitive cleaning pattern but it does eventually get everywhere, more or less, before running out of power. It has once successfully returned to the dock after charging, but often runs out of juice while still cleaning.And the difference is amazing. The house feels much cleaner. It cleans the hard floors and also the rugs. I know it’s been working because each time I use it there is less dust and hair that have to be cleaned out. I of course did not realize that you have to clean it after every single use. But I do, and it really makes a difference.Very happy, overall, with this purchase, even if it still does sometimes drive me bananas when it goes over the same area a gazillion times!

Recently finished our basement and bought this unit to run everyday (set for 2am). We don’t have pets so can’t say how it works for pet hair but I have it set to begin vacuuming at 2am every morning and it does a great job on our luxury vinyl tile flooring. We do have one thicker rug it has a tendency to get stuck on so just be aware. It automatically empties itself when done vacuuming. The base suction can be loud so be aware of that. Otherwise we really like this vacuum.
