I’m not a big Amazon reviewer, but I spent so much time reading mattress reviews before I bought the Sleep Innovations 12″ Queen mattress that I felt I should contribute to the discussion as there seems to be a disproportionate number of wholly positive reviews on here. I am trying, hope against hope, to fall in love with this mattress, but it’s hard. It’s hard as in difficult and it’s hard as in I have nicknamed the mattress “The Marble Slab” because this thing is more a morgue table than it is a bed.BackgroundI had the same, crapsterella, full-size, basic spring mattress from Serta for 16 years. That’s way too long to keep a bed. I know this. I purchased a $200 mattress topper from Bed, Bath & Beyond in order to “extend the life of it” (really, it should have been put out of its misery a decade ago). The topper did make the bed heavenly soft, but I also found myself sleeping at the bottom of a crevasse and having to claw my way out–the topper had no support. I threw my back out after a lifetime of not a single backache (It can happen to you! Stretch! I’m young and active and one day it just went and oh my goodness). Climbing out of the mattress topper was horrible for my back and I decided it was time to buy a new bed. Since I hadn’t bought a bed since the Clinton administration, I was delighted to find bed technology had made some technological strides for the better. I had stayed at a friend’s home for a month and never slept better; he informed me that his bed was “one of those memory foam ones” and I went on my quest. I went to a midtown NYC Sleepy’s and risked catching a social disease lying on their filthy Tempurpedics and latex/foam combos and foam/spring melanges and determined that yes I loved the foam and no I could not pay $2000+ for a new mattress. I turned to Amazon and the overwhelming number of great reviews for Sleep Innovations finally got me (I also explored Bobopedic, Angel Beds, etc.). I had the thing delivered to my NYC apartment.As others have said a million times, the box is small, the thing weighs about 100 lbs., there is no way on earth you are going to get this upstairs if you are a weak-limbed girl with a back problem. My gym-buffed 6’3″ friend pushed it up the one flight with difficulty. Unpacking it was a breeze, there was really no smell, I was psyched to have invested in perhaps the World’s Most Praised Mattress. Onward to sleeping.PROSIf you’ve been sleeping on a busted old mattress with a busted old boxspring and a ridiculous memory foam topper that only makes things worse, things are looking up when you first lie on the Sleep Innovations mattress. It’s flat. It’s firm.-You are not going to roll around a lot. Which is a good thing, because you do sleep more soundly. So soundly you are going to maybe wake up in a little pool of your own drool because you haven’t moved a muscle.-It’s firm. If you need back support, which I do, you aren’t going to worry that you’re sleeping on too soft a pillow-top or you’re doing bad things for your spine. This thing is supportive.-It’s high. I like a high bed. I have it on a boxspring (that weird one people say to get on here that you put together yourself is really a decent boxspring, I’ve clearly been listening to Amazon reviews) and so it’s about 20″ high from the ground with a bed frame. This is good for getting up with your bad back, as there are no springs to launch you out of bed.-You can sit on the edge and put your shoes on. I’ve heard there are foam mattresses that have no edge support. With a mattress this hard, that’s no problem.-There are occasional nights of good, maybe great, sleep. You will go to your brother’s house and sleep on a normal mattress, one you have slept on for years and used to think was a little hard, and think “This is too soft! Beds are not supposed to be this soft and springy, this is not good for my back.” You are probably right, but it’s a matter of degrees.CONSOK, listen to me. I’m a picky sleeper, but not that picky. As in I sleep well in most hotel beds that pride themselves on comfort (W, Westin, etc.). I like a firm bed. I also thought, before I got this mattress, that I slept cold.-Listen to the people who say this mattress is hard. They are not kidding. They may be a tiny chorus that you’re ignoring, as I did, needing to believe that this mattress is amazing and those people were a freakish minority, since every other review says this mattress is just right. I’ve given it time to get used to, and I am still kind of shocked each night at how hard this thing is. There is no burrowing down into your bed. There is no “oh my god my bed is so comfortable and cozy”. There’s a lot of “what the hell, I might as well be sleeping on the wood floor”.-You won’t toss and turn, it’s true, but if you TRY to turn, good luck. You can’t roll around on this mattress. If you need to roll over, you’re going to have to push yourself up on your arm and physically flip yourself over. There’s no give. There’s no help from the mattress to roll over. If you like to turn to get to the cool side of the pillow, you’re better off turning the pillow. Or getting over your need to get to the cool side, because there is no such thing as a cool side in this bed. Which brings me to…-I am not menopausal, but I believe I have now experienced the discomfiting experience of hot flashes, thanks to the blazing oven that is the Sleep Innovations mattress. Imagine a pizza stone in a wood-burning oven. You are the pizza. HOT! Hot bed! I turn the heat off and still roast away in this bed. I did research to find what on earth was going on since, as mentioned earlier, I tend to be cold when I sleep. I read that a wool mattress cover is going to turn down the heat on a hot foam mattress. Not true. It does give a scratchy, horsehair sort of feel to the bed, which is not pleasant, but it’s not cooling it down. People say to get the memory foam topper, but I’m a little wary of the Amazon reviewers on here now, because I feel they’ve led me astray once before. Listen to me. This bed is warm. I’m a normal person and I’m sleeping in a drafty New York apartment in December with a summer quilt and it’s too much blanket. Farewell, down duvet. I won’t be needing you now that I’ve got a flaming mattress. How can we sleep while our beds are burning indeed.I am really trying to fall in love with this mattress. I so want it to be everything amazing that everyone else says on here. Anyone who lies on my bed or sleeps in it is shocked at how hard it is. To say that the bar was set very low for this mattress to exceed the one it was replacing is an understatement; however, it also had to live up a comparison to the comfort and quality of my full time mattress which is a sleep number. To be clear, this mattress was intended to replace a junk, coil spring mattress in my part time residence, where I wanted to maximize my comfort (and reduce pain) at a price point that made sense. Coming in at just around $300, I figured I had little to lose and, at worst, it would have to be a step above the old mattress. Imagine my utterly pleasant surprise to come and find out that this little gem not only met that low bar, but overwhelmingly exceeded it. I’ve had this mattress for a little over a month and have slept on it probably near three weeks out of that month. In that time what I have found is that this mattress is extremely comfortable, super easy to set up and provides just the right amount of support where I need it most. In fact, I would say that it almost…..almost provides the same comfort level and support factor as my sleep number mattress. Almost, but not quite.Pros:1. Extremely convenient packaging and set up: A queen size mattress in a box, delivered to my doorstep. How easy is that? The box itself is hefty so you likely will need a helper to get the whole deal into position and especially when it comes time to cut the packaging and have it ready to go “inflation”. Instructions provided and easy to follow. Once we properly positioned the wrapped mattress on the box spring it took a simple slice of the plastic (using the slicer provided to us in the box) and voila! new mattress. The directions tell you to allow the mattress to shape for at least 72 hours, but I was extremely hopeful that I would be able to us it that night as one more night on the old mattress was absolutely out of the question. Some people have noted that their mattresses didn’t form properly or didn’t reach the intended height (some even after the 72 hours) but I found that my mattress was fully formed and at the right height in no more than 12 hours. I made the choice to use it that night2 Comfort: I’ve found over the years that I need a firmer mattress to alleviate much of my lower pack pain and stiffness that I’ve found in using mattresses of lesser quality. The one advantage of a sleep number bed is that you have 100s of different combinations available to you to find just the right amount of firmness or softness to achieve maximum comfort, and over the past year or so that I’ve owned it, I’ve found that I fall neatly within the medium firmness category (for those familiar with sleep number, I’m about a 55 to 60 setting) so having this mattresses advertised as falling into the medium to firm category was really important – and I was counting on that description being accurate. And I can tell you that , at least in my experience – it is. In fact, if I had to assign a sleep number to this mattress for comparison, my guess is that it would fall in the 65-70 range. I say this because while extremely comfortable, it does seem to be just a bit firmer than my current sleep number setting. Not enough that it creates any moderate discomfort, but just enough that I can feel the pressure. For reference – I am in the range of 180-190lbs – I can’t speak to how well that level of firmness holds for someone in a different weight bracket, but my best guess is that it will hold relatively stable for most people.3 Sturdy – I can’t speak to how other foam mattresses are in this category, but when sleeping with someone else, I don’t feel them moving or turning/tossing.4 Price – Sure, you can invest in other, more expensive mattresses, foam or otherwise, for your needs, but out of the box, at this price point, you get a lot of mattress with very little downside. That being said, I cannot speak to how well it will hold up over the long term, or whether it will still be the same mattress in 1 year or even 3, but at this price point, I would be satisfied with with a handful of good quality years.Cons – Really very few to mention, but:1 Edge support – I believe this is an issue with every foam mattress, but the edge support is absolutely not on par with a traditional mattress. That being said, it does not affect my use of the mattress one bit, but for those that need the extra support to get out of bed, or, for those that want to utilize some edge support for “extracurricular” activities – you’ll find that you’ll have to adjust for the lack of edge support and plan accordingly.2 Cooling – foam mattresses in general are notorious for running warm and while this mattress attempts to compensate for it by using a cooling layer, I believe that warm sleepers are still going to find themselves sleeping warm. I generally don’t tend to be a warm sleeper, so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but it also certainly doesn’t offer any more cooling features than any other mattress available.All in all, I rate this mattress very highly and certainly would recommend purchasing it assuming its specifications meet your needs. It’s a high quality, comfortable mattress at a very affordable price point.

I had a rough start with this item due to a delivery issue. SHA CERLIN was responsive when I reached out, and they helped me reach an acceptable resolution. I definitely appreciate how quick they communicated.I purchased another frame (ZINUS Suzanne 37 Inch Metal and Wood Platform Bed Frame) from Amazon, and these two frames have a similar look and price point. I’ll be comparing these two frames in this review. I rated this SHA CERLIN frame at 5 stars and the ZINUS Suzanne at 2 stars.I like that this one has steel slats which I think will give better support than the other one, which has wood slats. This one comes with rubber pieces that hold the slats in place and prevent metal-on-metal contact/noise. I’ll have to see how long those rubber pieces last, but it seems effective for now. The other frame used velcro to keep the slats in place. It gets the job done, but I like this frame’s design better.Assembly for the other frame was off to a good start, but eventually I ran into issues with some of the pieces not fitting well. I had to really force some of them together with my full body weight and a rubber mallet, and I find it impossible to disassemble again. That really hurt my impression of the other frame. A main motivator for looking at frames like these two was that they’d be easy to put together and take apart. The other frame fails in this regard.This frame seemed pretty easy to assemble, and I feel like all the parts were machined well enough that nothing needed to be forced together. I expect to be able to take apart portions of the frame as necessary without issue. One issue I did have during assembly was when connecting the side pieces to the end pieces. There’s not a whole lot of support during this step, and it can be tricky getting the bolts and holes lined up if you don’t maintain a 90 degree contact. After you get the first one going, this adds support making the other pieces easier to attach. Overall, I don’t think this was a big enough issue to subtract from my final rating.The other frame seemed to have stained pieces for the headboard/footboard, and the stain hadn’t set in fully before they shipped it out. When wiping the surface with the stain, I noticed it seemed to come off onto the rag I used. There was also a strong chemical smell coming from the stained pieces. I did not experience similar issues with this frame.Once put together, I think this bed frame looks pretty good, and it feels pretty solid. For the price, I’m pretty happy with this purchase. This combined with my good experience with customer support gives them a 5 from me.

So the mattress comes in a pretty big box. I got the cali-king 12″ firm hybrid. Weighs about 100 pounds I’d say. The delivery man was a saint and brought the big ol thing right up to my apartment door. I thought they’d dump it just in the lobby.Opening it up was great it came in heavy duty plastic wrap so a safety cutter (or something without exposed sharp blades would work) cut through the plastic and the mattress !immediately! Started to puff up. The mattress was folded in half and then rolled up. Within maybe 3 minutes I had a fully puffed up 12 inch mattress in my living room. I am still going to give it the full 24 hours before sleeping on it but I did lay on it to test the firmness and it’s really nice. As someone who works manual labor having that foam layer for comfort but the springs for support is just bliss.There’s no weird smells or anything. The cloth is quite cool to the touch as stated in the listing. It really does look exactly like the photo in the listing too! Sometimes there’s a little wiggle room for how things looks but this was to the tee. I will update after a night’s sleep on it and try to update again later. Right now I’m just so happy to throw out my old mattress that’s been ruining my sleep for the last 6 years!UPDATE: First night’s sleep was lovely. It is firm! (I’m roughly 280lbs, hubbs is 220lbs) As a side sleeper I’m going to need a fluffier pillow. My body did not sink beyond the foam nicely contouring me. This mattress is very supportive. It is a bit bouncy though. If my hubbs moved on his side I did feel it on mine lightly. Nothing enough to wake me up but worth mentioning. The edges of the bed keep their shape however the corners have a bit less support. I don’t see why anyone would be sitting only on a corner but they definitely condense far more than the actual sides.I look forward to many a night’s sleep on this mattress!

I was looking for a very unique bed, something that would represent vintage style and modern…nothing like ikea but something more MCM style and understanding that my budget for this was low (pickings would be slim) but after a long search I came across this bed! The shipping didn’t turn me away, I actually was so interested in this bed but was very skeptical from the custom reviews because some had box springs on it and honestly just wasn’t selling it for me. But I honestly was drawn to it for the black and dark wood colors but with the rounded style headboard. My older bed was solid wood and a very similar style and this just hit home run. I won’t say much about the quality because frankly it’s low and I don’t imagine it will last a long time but we will see, for now it’s great. ((If something changes I will update my review))Over all it came packaged up very well (lots of parts) but very easy to build (under 20 mins) and it looks great with my low DIY wood and brick tv unit and stand. Exactly what I was looking for, something low yet still had a large look to it and a lot of under-bed storage. If you can swing it definitely try it, if it doesn’t work you’ll just need to return it. This was easy to assemble. I had help but still it was easy. The challenge is that for one, the mattress deflates slowly the longer you are on it. You can see your section of the mattress lowered when you get up. And no, this is not comfortable for me. I will change the mattress as soon as I can. The Mattress actually does not fit snug on top as in the picture. It is lower. There is a fairly large space between the mattress and the Headboard, so stuff keep sliding down through there, and it is uncomfortable to sit with my back on the board because of the space. The headboard should extend lower to prevent this from happening, then the product would be improved.Pros- It is a beautiful product. It is easy to wipe most things off it. It is close to the floor so easy getting on and off.

There’s a bunch of pieces. It’s pretty simple to put together. I always get nervous putting together things with screws from Amazon. I’ve had some bad experiences, and here we are again.I get the whole bed together and get down to the last two screws. These last screws secure the footboard to the frame one last time. The female thread on the left side of the footboard worked fine, but it’s like they placed the thread the wrong way in the right side.I tried everything. Disassembled a couple steps backwards… I tried longer screws…. Nothing would catch in this thread. So I left her unscrewed. Doesn’t seem to alter the integrity of the bed frame.I plan to replace this with an adjustable remote fancy frame, it’s just I’m still recovering from the surgery I had to have in order to buy a tempurpedic. Once my wallet and my groin are healed in getting that fancy robo frame.This is a great frame for temporary or long term use. She doesn’t need oil or lube and as far as I’ve tested her out, she’s about as far from a noisy bed frame as they come. I was worried when it came down to business time she might be a bit squeaky, but not a peep.Good bed frame for the low cost.

Overall I am happy with the bed, however, it did not have instructions, and the online links listed in the comments had no file available. It took me a couple of hours to figure it out – hours that I would love to have been doing other things. However, once it was completed, I am happy with the stability of it. Admittedly I did use Loctite on the screws, but it is solid.

Arrived a day early. That’s always a plus 🙂 I have to say I really love this bed frame. It looks awesome in my room I think. It was very easy to put together, just took a little time. It was way too heavy to lug the whole box upstairs for one person so I hauled it piece by piece. Not a big deal….I got my steps in for the day 🙂 Overall, I’m very happy with it. See attached photo.Slight con – I’d like the headboard to be a bit higher. My mattress is 12″ memory foam so it takes up a bit of vertical real estate. I may add an extension of 6-10 inches just to make it more pronounced.

It feels soft at first but when laying down it provides plenty of support. I would say it is some where b/w medium to firm. I love it!

Husband and I are big people. He 6’5” 320# and me 5’9” 300+#. We desperately needed a new mattress as our 15 year old was shot to hell as well the “hold over” toppers we purchased to cover the old worn mattress. We didn’t have $2,000 to spend however. After comparing several products and reading every review I could find, and every Q&A I could find, I took the risk and spent the $400 on this king size memory foam mattress. I figured even if we got a year out of it I would be happy, as long as that year matched all the positive reviews.I’m happy to report that after 3 months of sleeping on this, we do not regret our decision to purchase. Is it perfect? Magnificent? The best sleep ever? No, no, and no, but it is worth every penny and so much better than what we were sleeping on before.First thing, like many others noted, the mattress did not expand to its full height. We were missing about 3/4 -1 full inch. We followed the directions to a T and even referred to the manufacturer for trouble shooting after 3 days of “rising time” and it still came up short.It is a soft memory foam without any boards or springs for structure so as expected it is soft, but it is surprisingly firm as well. Our large bodies feel very supported while laying on top of the mattress and do not get a sinking sensation while laying at all . However, sitting on the bed, laying near the edge, or when “active”, you definitely feel the “sinking” and lack of support you would get from a traditional mattress. With that said however,3 months in and we do not have any dips or worn parts from where we lay (and again we are bigger people, over 600 pounds between the two of us! And can’t forget the dog! LolAs far as pain relief is concerned hubby and ai both suffer with a bad back and see a chiropractor regularly. This mattress is not a pain reliever by any means, but it does not create more aches and pains so I take that as a plus.I’ll update again in a few months should we experience any changes or any wear.
