1/2023 – UpdateI didn’t remember to post in 2022, but I wanted to add a couple of pictures. I will say that am not sure if the product is going to hold up through six years (horizontal surfaces like the deck) as it’s going on 3 years and I feel like I am seeing wearing I didn’t expect. However, I am not a professional. I applied it with a brush and, perhaps, I didn’t apply it as well as I should have. I am not comfortable blaming the product alone. Some sections seem to be holding up better than others. Currently, the furniture is covered up, but most of it seems to be holding up better than certain areas of the deck. It should be noted that most of the deck is probably close to 30 years old if not older. That may be a factor as well.6/2021 – UpdateI originally posted last November after treating wooden deck furniture. This June, I treated the deck after having it power washed. Still thrilled with the product and the way it’s working. I am adding 2 additional pictures. The first is after the deck was power washed and the second is after I treated/painted it with this product. You can even see beaded water on the deck 🙂11/2020I am posting a review of this product along with some pictures. I will plan on updating it each year as the product is said to last approximately 6 on horizontal surfaces and 10 years on vertical surfaces.First, let me say that I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. When the product arrived I found it to be somewhat thin. When I realized it was water based, it made more sense that it wasn’t very thick. That being said, I have been very pleased thus far with the results. I did the application with a brush. As you will see in the pictures, it does what it needs to do when it comes to rain. I also wasn’t sure what color to get. I picked the bronze cedar and when used on new wood, that is the color you get. It is beautiful! You will see the color is not quite the same (seems a bit darker depending on the light) when used on wood that has already been treated with a previous product (I don’t recall what product or color was on the furniture that I re-treated) It doesn’t bother me, though, that the color isn’t the same. Now for the pictures. The picture of the deck boards that I treated show the true color. I have not yet treated the rest of the deck as I want to make sure to power wash and clean it first and won’t be able to do that till spring. When you see the picture of the boards with the water beaded on them and then see the boards around it don’t have beaded water, it’s because the rest of the deck has not yet been treated. The pictures of the furniture show the “before” of one of the small end tables and the “after.” It also shows an “after” of another chair and table set and big picnic table. Mind you, the furniture wasn’t in the best of condition. The last time it was treated was several years ago. I am very pleased with the way this product has worked so far. If you do happen to see an area that was missed, it is NOT the fault of the product, but of the person doing the application (me!) I look forward to treating the rest of the deck (and furniture) in the spring with this excellent product!
I power washed a 15 year old ~2000 sq ft ipe wood deck and followed it with application of the ipe oil. The oil and stain is easy to apply addressing pooled oil by brushing it out rather than wiping it with a cloth. The treated surface dries quickly and cures within 48 hours. The stain appears to take up differently depending of the grain of the cut. The number of gallons needed, can only be estimated. contingent on the amount of wood surface coverage. I ordered 4 gallons initially and used a total of 7 but also powerwashed and treated 5 teak chairs The teak furniture appeared to take up the stain uniformly. Not sure why there was such a varied uptake on the deck.

I bought this to use on a raised bed garden I built for my daughter. Don’t want my grand son growing extra limbs because he ate garden vegetables so I figured I’d go non-toxic. I’ve used the other stuff on my own gardens and haven’t noticed any issues but why take the chance? This covers like most other sealers I’ve used. Went in easy and did a quick wipe down after it dried for about 10-15 minutes. This is supposed to prevent stickiness and I can tell you that I did not experience any stickiness.I really like how it brings out the grain in the cedar. It gives it a ‘wet’ look rather then changing the color. Given that it doesn’t have a distinct tint, I believe it may not offer as much ultraviolet protection but time will tell. I can’t speak to durability yet but I assume it will require a yearly re-application to prevent graying of the wood.I applied the cedar to the cut boards before assembling. I did this outside because there is definitely an odor to it and I wouldn’t recommend doing it in a basement or enclosed space. The smell dissipates over the course of a couple days but it’s there. I assembled after they dried for 24 hours and they were still oily but nothing terrible. After 48 hours, they are pretty dry and should be good to handle the weather now.The bed is 8×4 and is about 16 inches tall. It took about half the bottle to provide one coat of coverage. It seems that one coat should provide pretty good protection. I’m not seeing any spots that seem unprotected and it seems to have covered evenly.Overall, while pricey, I’m pretty happy with it so far. If it protects for at least a year without reapplication, I’ll be happy.

Found this IPE (Iron wood) patio set at the marketplace for free. After pressure washing, and a little sanding, we use IPE Oil. The results are outstanding. I gave to hands of IPE oil to get the dark rich brown. I placed the chairs side by side to compare without Oil, one hand and two.
Stained my 750 sq.ft. Ipe deck. It looks brand new.
After mixing up well, and coming back to it about 15 minutes later, you would stink it was still mixed. Was wondering why it was so thin and barely had color until i got up the middle and it started up get thick and i realized all of the redwood coloring had sunk back to the bottom even though I shook it before reopening it after mixing. You would think it would stay mixed. Which caused it to be oily and slippery almost causing my 95yr old mother injury but i watched it off with warm soapy water and rinsed with hose and it was fine. Except the rails and handles are light and the buttom is darker. I’ll be getting some from Lowe’s to do a second coat. But it was easy to use and a pretty color other than that. I guess it was partly my fault though.
This beats the “thin” products hands down. It’s much easier to apply and isn’t going to drip everywhere. I can’t verify the 10-year claim, but so far, it’s great. Cleaning and sealing the deck every year or two is a pain. If I can get 5 years, I’d be thrilled.
I’ve started using this sealer for outdoor wood decorations I paint. The usual sealer of polyurethane only lasts a season or two and with all the time put it painting each project, and the cost to consumer, I needed another product that would last longer and keep the product usable for more seasons. I am not sure just how long it lasts as I’ve just stared using it, but it is definitely a one cost finish. It will bead up if you put more in as it’s sealed and won’t absorb. It’s Matt finish so the design isn’t obscured by reflection of light. So far so good.

I normally use Thompson’s Deck Stain and Preservative, but AMAZON had this brand and scored high and was about the same cost. I was not fully satisfied with the last Thompson coating as far as longevity, so I purchased Storm.I power washed both the swing and the wishing well before applying the Storm Protector. ( I used the cedar look). Both units were about 2 years old and basically gray in color. Some mildew, but not much.I choose to use a 4″ brush and that did the job. The product went on fast and I could catch all those crevice’s easily. Cleaned up with soap & water. The bottom line will be how long it lasts. I will update at that time.
I used a sprayer to apply the water seal. I am by no means a professional. I found this easy to use. I shook the can well before use and poured it into the container of the sprayer. I used just about three containers for the deck and the staircase. I am yet to see it in the rain.
Knowing Siloxane is pretty much hydrophobic I just had to try it. I was not disappointed. Has to be the easiest to apply and most effective deck treatment I’ve ever used. The wood feels so smooth now, but it’s not slick. I don’t ever remember our deck looking so good. I can’t wait to treat it again!
Product states that it’s best to be sprayed on but I used a roller had no issues whatsoever
Aside from fast delivery, it’s easy to use and only need 1 application to make the wood water resistant. It says apply again after a year. We’ll see about that. So far, it really repels water from the plant stand I built. Happy with the result.
purchased for 2 years: the product was used for deck 3 cans 42×16 (3/4 can unused extra. The cans came semi crushed lids were ease to open. Roller and pole is needed to apply. Best soap & water clean up. allow 48hrs to dry and 72hrs to cure.
Very easy to apply and looks great!
Got this to coat my new deck. It’s real easy to put on. Splashed some on my wrist while I was putting it on and it kind of burnt a hole in my skin, so I’m guessing it must work pretty good 👍
I bought this to seal a cedar garden bed I built. It’s PERFECT. Super easy to apply and makes the wood look GORGEOUS.

It’s worth the money to spend on this stain. It went on smoothly and looks great. Water beads off the wood. Time will tell about how long it lasts. I’m happy with this purchase.

Did 4 coats of this, and still wasn’t “sealed” all the way. Got tired of coating and waiting, so we’ll see if it holds up. So far, it’s super hard, to clean the surface, so that’s not a good sign
A little goes a long way. Stays on brush..no drips or splatters. Love it.
This stuff is great! Best water protection I have ever seen. Love it!
I chose Tried & True Original wood finish to re-finish my dining table because it’s nontoxic and environmentally friendly. For a beginner, I’m pretty impressed with my results. I did all the sanding, stripping, and finishing in my small apartment, with a little help from some YouTube videos!Although I was hoping this finish wouldn’t alter the color of the grain too much, I’m still pretty impressed with the way it turned out.To strip my table, I used a portable Dremel sander with 80-220 grit sand paper, and since I live in Southern California, (where Mineral Spirits and paint thinners are banned), I used Citristrip to remove any paint that was impossible to sand off, and applied hot distilled vinegar, with a paint brush to remove the Citristrip residue using a putty knife, souring pads, and steel wool. Then I hand sanded it once more and used steel wool to dry-burnish the table. To finish it, I applied Tried & True with small pieces of an old tee-shirt. To increase the sheen, I used 0000 Steel Wool, and a clean microfiber cloth in between coats. Onec each coat was applied, I wiped off the residual finish with a 100% natural Chamois.See before & after pics

I used this product on a wood trailer deck. I pressure washed the deck about 2 weeks prior to applying the sealer to clean and raise the wood grain. 2 coats on a thirsty 7’x14′ trailer deck consumed 1 gallon . The brown color was a nice contrast and was definitely dark. Looks great and really soaked in well. Hope it holds up for a long time.

I like this indoor/outdoor coat and it works great. Looks great too as long as you do it right. It can be difficult to apply and you have to pay close attention and be fast with it or else it dries all clumpy and yellow. But once I got the hang of it, it went well
I’ve used Helmsman oil-based varnish for many years and recently transitioned to this water-based product. It appears to be as durable as the oil- based product, but with the advantage of water clean up. Expect it to be my product of choice for varnish, going forward.
First time painter ever and this product was great for entry door. Water based paint flows easily while applying on the door, very little absorption. I assumed water based product would seep into wood but I was proven wrong. Barely used one fourth of a quart for a full entry door, both sides, two coats. No dripping, no mess, no stickiness, no toxins, no smell, dried in 30 minutes. Got the semi gloss finish and it really looks nice, not too glossy or not too bland. Recommend to try the water based, it does not flake like the oil based paint as time progresses.
I used this and it covered the area well, and in line with the recommended use for square feet to apply. The water is now more deterred from penetrating the wood
I chose this as a safe alternative for my garden beds. The product is easy use, and goes quite a long was. I was expecting to use 2 quarts for my project, but only needed about 1 1/4. There is a strong scent, not unpleasant, but it does take a few weeks to fully go away. Seems to seal the wood well, and gives a nice color to the finished product.
I applied this varnish to some Ipe boards that I used on my deck posts. It went on very easilywith a six-inch short nap roller. I got this brand because it was highly rated in reviews that Iread for durability and resistance to fading. Cleaning the roller between coats was a pain, but mostoil based products are. My only major complaint is that Amazon did a very poor job of packingthe can. The box was too big for the can and there was no packing material put around the can. Thus, when it arrived there was a huge dent in the side of the can.
Love this product I cant say enough about how beautiful the color is! It applied very easily and even. Also I want to mention the reviews saying theirs came in expired, the date on top is manufacture date not exp date and the plastic rim you can pry it off from the bottom using your hands. Would buy again for sure. Great price for quality stain!
FAST SHIPPING, GREAT PRICE!!!
100% works as advertised, it just doesn’t go nearly as far as it says it does. I used two gallons to do two coats on 250sqft of decking and I still felt it came up a little short.
