This will not be a serious review yet, just an initial impression until the season gets here and it can actually be put to use and then I will have to update it.The first thing I noticed was that these are made out of a soft rubbery material, not a hard plastic like the older versions so time will tell whether they permanently deform or not. I suspect they will be fine as long as they are not stored for long periods with a lot of stuff on top of them. Even the feet are soft rubber. That could be a good thing since I have broken the feet off of mojo’s before so these look like they probably won’t break and I probably will not have to be so careful to avoid breaking them. The feet also pivot in making them more packable as well. The battery holder and on/off switch are both easily accessible. I put some batteries in it just to see if it was as quiet as claimed and did indeed find it to be whisper quiet, though personally I have not had any problems in the past with Mojos or Lucky ducks scaring ducks away with noise. I dislike the big solid uncolored plastic area on the bottoms of both these and the new Lucky ducks, but it looks like at the angle the decoy is standing it probably won’t be a problem unless the decoy was mounted extremely high which most people will not be doing. The wings look nice, though I suspect that will make no difference since the wings are supposed to be spinning. The paint looks fairly good. Comparing an old style mojo to these new elite series, the paint seems to be a little better but not by a large margin. It is possible the paint may chip less on the new soft material, but at this point only time will tell. The only thing I really dislike about this decoy so far is that the shaft screw which matches the notch on the wing connection on the mallard is inset so deeply into the body that even in the house sitting under a light I can barely see it to mount the wings and normally one would be setting these up in the dark in a hurry with cold hands. Why is this so annoying? Because the shaft on each side is flush with the decoy body and inset into the body so you cannot hold the shaft to keep it from turning when inserting the wings. That means you cannot do it by feel (if you have small hands). On the old style you could see the notch (you won’t be able to see it on these without a headlight). On the old style even if you did not have a light you could just hold the shaft on the other side and rotate the wing until the notch dropped into place but you cannot do that with these because you cannot hold the shaft to keep it from turning when trying to rotate the wing until it drops into place. On the first wing you will have to line it up perfectly by sight with a headlight. If you have large hands that fit all the way around the body of the decoy, you can press your thumb down on the end of the shaft on the other side and sometimes get enough friction to hold the shaft in place well enough to get the first wing on. Once the first wing is on you can use that wing to hold the shaft in place and twist in the second wing until it drops in place. The elite teal does have the same problem the mallard has because the the screw for the notch is not inset so far into the body of the decoy and the shaft sticks out a little allowing fingers to get at least a 3/8″ grip on the shaft.At this point I could not say how resistant the motor on these is to water. In the past, mojos I had that got dunked were good as permanently dead.My only other complaint is lack of a remote control option for the hen mallard and no access into the decoy body to be able to rig one up..

I own three of the elite series at this point and occasionally run into problems with the battery pack contacts. Usually if you play with them enough it starts working. I only had one hunt where it just plain would not work, but then was fine when I got home. One thing I really like about the elite series is that the feet are rubber so they do not need to be removed to keep from breaking them like the old style. You can just fold in the feet and pack them. The bodies are also soft, but I do not have enough hours on them yet to determine whether this will provide extra durability or not. On the mallard, I feel like the wings spin too slow compared to the old versions and the paint is wonky, just wonky in a different way from the old ones. The teal on the other hand looks very nice. These use AA batteries which is great if like me you have invested in rechargable batteries and chargers, but sucks otherwise. The other annoyance is that the notch the wings fit into is inset so it is difficult to see and may require a little patience to align.

The media could not be loaded.  The decoy looks like a blue heron. I’ve never seen a real blue heron at my pond but bought this as a precaution. I was shocked to see a week later, a real blue heron flew in right next to it and didn’t seem bothered or threatened at all. He flew right to it!
