  1. I looked and looked at all the pill splitters available on Amazon. Sure I wanted this one because as a techie I tend toward buying the higher end products knowing you rarely get burned for spending extra. The only question I ask myself is – is this an item I want to spend extra on. Cat litter, naw the cheap stuff will do, computer parts, nothing but the best.Personal health items – nothing but the best. I wavererd for hours if not days then closed my eyes and clicked buy it !I waited until honestly I forgot about it as my work life is CRAZY. I pulled the order up and it was 3 weeks old. It was shipped USPS ( heart sank ) and so I copied the tracking number and put it into the USPS tracking system. Yup 2 entries.1) wicked up a package2) it’s on a shelf in no-where America and-you-aint-never-gonna-get-it *** BECAUSE *** we’re the United States Post Office and our sole mission is for all you US Taxpayers to fund our pension. To heck with your mail. ( Sound familiar – same way unions AFLCIO busted Detroit because in the end all profit from car sales went to pension funds and health care – so it’s simply – the car companies said we’ll pick up our marbles and leave – and they did. )3) PS -> not sour grapes I’ve had multiple times where USPS updates their tracking late. FedEx and UPS – heck these guys phone ahead and bring coffee & donuts – and a SMILE – when they deliver their packages on time.–So I used the Amazon system to contact the super nice seller who said gosh this is a mess, and they should ship a replacement immediately I told them I would contact them when I received the package so they would know all is well.–Here is the email I just send the fine folks who produce Equadose:I’ll get another one out UPS today.–This is ******** and I wanted to ley you know I received my Equadose pill splitter. The second I opened the package I knew a designer had to be involved in this project as it is stunningly beautiful. But wait, then I thought it must be an engineer because Space-X could launch & retrieve their rockets from this portable launch pad made frim billet aluminium. ( Then I read the enclosed card about your amazing husband. )Thank you ********** and may God bless your family and shower you with wealth and see you through tough times as you continue to build your small business !!–Folks I never write reviews because everyone knows “you’re” the product on the internet, so until I get a royality check I’m not loading free content into anyones system so they can make a bazillion bucks off you ( stop it already on Facebook & Twitter .)However let me tell you between the Equadose product and MAINLY the company that STANDS BEHIND the product, when you get tired of buying the rest of those cheapo pill splitters that crack and crush your pills, get the real deal pill splitter that cuts you pills.Without even looking at the instructions I took a large ( about 1 inch ) oval tablet and cut it into 3 equal sections. Snip, snip, snip.THAT”S why you pay $35 for an overkill pill slitter and thank you Equadose for taking the time to manufacture one !!*******************************************************************************************************************************************************Updated: 08-21-2015Well tonight I went snip, snip, snip again and just couldn’t contain myself and thought who else in my life needs to know about this amazing device ?I immediately thought about my vet. Vets split pills all the time and their staff most likely is like the inventor of this product and has tried every crummy splitter on the market.I couldn’t contain myself as I order another one to give her as a gift. As an owner of 6 dogs and 2 cats all at once, you can imagine how many trips I made up there and the rapport we have.I can’t wait to get my 2nd one to give her as a gift.Thank you to the inventor of this device as you’re going to allow me to share my joy with another person who truly has an absolute need for a product like this.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************As a side comment and pile on if you want to, but look at any item on Amazon that’s split 50/50% between 5 star and 1 star rating and it’s a no-brainer.The people who rate it 5 stars had an absolute need for the product, and yes it was probably over priced for the market, but they don’t care because if it works they can make the value justification in their head all day long and feel great about rating the product 5 stars. If you’re uncertain, or thrifty, or sitting on the fence, or really don’t need overkill, or didn’t win the lotto, or don’t have a rich Uncle Henry, or don’t have a trust fund, or don’t appreciate beauty & craftsmanship, or don’t read in between the lines of 5 star reviews, please ask any questions as I’m sure the 4 and 5 star reviewers will be happy to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************Updated: 08-27-2015Gave my vet the 2 splitters I had, and purchased my 3rd one today. My vet had no idea what it was. I told her it was the atomic, bionic pill splitter. She showed me the little plastic one they currently use now — eh, Mercedes or Model-T the choice is your’s.Anyway, terrific product from an even better company !

  2. WOW. so i have been splitting pills for some years, one is a coated sort of rounded pill and the other is a regular scored uncoated white pill. i needed a pill cutter for the coated one. The white one i try to do with my finger nails because the pill cutter doesn’t do a good job of it. always frustrating, one out of 20 times it comes out about right. so i have continued to use a cheap one i got at CVS and later i got the same kind on Amazon. It worked ok, not great, in the sense it didn’t cut evenly and i needed evenness, pretty uniform doses. I got another one on Amazon, basically the same functioning as the first one, not very even, and the blad gets dull so that it gets worse over time. But the blade would wear out before too long. Now, in the past month my previously healthy almost 13 year old dog got right sided congestive heart failure and severe pulmonary hypertension and he’s supposed to be on 4 meds, one of which i have to split–the form it comes in is called “Quads” and it’s scored to cut in quarters. Doing it with my finger nails was too inexact. The usual pill cutter about the same. So i came to Amazon and i only looked at the ones with 4.5 star reviews. This was one of the top reviewed ones. The reviews sounded really good. And there was the ability to cut multiple pills at once. Too good to be true, yet so many happy reviewers. $30??? ok, it’s my dog and he’s in real trouble and needs his meds to be right. so i ordered it. It was delivered very fast .So, i got into trying it out right away. This is probably just me, brain dead from recent stress. but i had a hard time figuring out how to open it in order to put the pills in. The instructions on the box didn’t help. i found a video on line and still didn’t have the concept of it, the specific way you push on the ends of the cutter to have it open up. Slowly, i found how to do it but then would immediately forget, even watching it on the video. For me, it was counterintuitive. But finally i started getting the feel for it and the concept of it. not rocket science but for me, at that point in time, it took me about 20 to 30 minutes to get it figured out solid. i experienced frustration. No doubt just the difficulties i have been having getting the medications right, like giving it to him and then later finding it on the floor (one of the three pills) , or me just forgetting to give all of them to him, there are 4 different occasions throughout the day. i sometimes outright forgot, even setting a timer. So i got a great app that reminds you which also took a long time to get set up but now is good.i really don’t think it’s that hard to open this cutter to put pills in it, i think my difficulties were caused by my anxiety unrelated to the pill cutter. i was pushing on the sides the way i thought it should work and nothing happened. press real hard, no response. So once i could easily open and close it, i followed the instructions and put several pills in it. i hadn’t really thought i wanted a multiple pill cutter, just a well functioning single pill cutter would be a dream come true. The first cut i made was uneven. i tried it again more carefully and it was as close to perfect as i could want. I got a bunch more, all excellent, so now i have a big collection of doses and i don’t have to think about it anymore. Thank you Multiple Pill Splitter for greatly improving my quality of life.I then went to my own pills, the coated ones that are hard as a rock. they are rounded, no flat surfaces. so ididn’t think they could be cut accurately in the position this pill cutter uses. i put a bunch in there and they were split as equally as i could need, i couldn’t see difference in them, not what i’m used to. Before this pill cutter, i was always taking the larger piece and breaking a bit off of it to add to the smaller piece. :(Now, i have a huge collection of evenly cut half pills. This is one of those really good product experiences that makes me feel happy when i think about it. It totally works, way better than hoped for or imagined. i didn’t even realize how wonderfut it would be to have a supply of already split pills and not have to even think about cutting them.i have only used it on those few attempts on the day i got it so i don’t know if it holds up, but i can see that i’m not even going to have to use it very often because it cuts so many at once so i’m expecting it to last. If i have any unreasonably negative experiecnes or unsupported customer service, i’ll update the review, but i do not expect to have any problem. Solid easy to use multi pill cutter with great blade.

  3. My husband takes a lot of different medications. Each month, I fill up a 31-day, 4 times a day, pill keeper. That’s a lot of pills. He only has several pills that need to be split, but since I have to split a lot each month, I wanted to find a splitter that could handle heavy use. The razor blades of a regular splitter get dull too soon, in my opinion, and you can’t really see what’s going on while you’re doing it, unless you hold it up in the air. So, that’s why I decided to get the Equadose. It seems like the answer to a lot of little problems, but think again:The price – You’re paying a lot of money for a new idea that is different than a razor blade. They count on your reaction to it being new and different to justify the price.Dexterity – If you have problems with arthritis in your hands/fingers, issues with fine motor skill, or any problem holding tiny objects, etc., this is not for you. Not only does it take more thought in using it, you have to hold the pill while making sure it’s lining up correctly, and keep holding it until both sides are secure enough to let go of the pill. So your fingers are in the way a lot. Don’t forget you’ll be doing this with a pill that isn’t big and that you probably already have problems holding anyway. And it does take some pressure when squeezing the two sides together. If you don’t have any strength in your fingers, it can be difficult, and hurt.Time – This isn’t a contraption you’ll just automatically know how to use. It takes practice getting your pills lined up correctly. You may not even get used to it. Even when you do have it lined up and ready, it looks off because the two parts are coming from the sides and not directly from above and below, vertically. My brain didn’t want to accept it as being evenly lined up. This isn’t something that’s only gonna be quick, even if you are able to do it.You should go to that YouTube and look at one of their own specific “instructional” videos. Think about what you’re looking at. These demonstrators are very familiar with the cutter, yet even they show it’s not that simple or easy. Also notice how the tips are not absolutely vertical ( line up evenly) in the pics here on Amazon and in the videos. There’s nothing wrong, but it does make it hard to judge for the middle.I cut several scored (called the breakline) pills. It cuts fine, but even being scored, it did take some pressure. I then cut some pills that didn’t have scored lines. The results were about the same, and the same amount of pressure needed. I even used it on a .5 mm 5mg Lisinopril (scored), which is a little over 1/8 inch (less than ¼ inch). It cut just as well. Unless you can afford to waste pills, I wouldn’t recommend experimenting. If you don’t line it up almost perfectly, you can mess them up, including crushing them. Just practice on other types of pills like vitamins, or something that don’t matter before you cut your medication.Note: Someone gave this a one star and provided a pic of two blue oblong pieces. I agree with others who say this was probably an operator error. But here is my problem with this review. One hundred fifty-eight people found this helpful. All you see is an Equadose cutter and a broken pill. We have no proof the reviewer used this cutter to cut that pill. We don’t have proof they even used any cutter. Too many people just look at a pic and let someone influence their decision about everything, without any evidence. People need to use logic and think about things. Stop relying solely on the reviews. Many are honest, but many are not. Many problems are the reviewer’s fault by their own admission, and they still get to post a bad review. Just pay attention to what’s being said.If you just have a couple of pills to split from time to time, don’t mind the cost and don’t mind not getting it done and over with quickly, it might be something you can use. You will mess up some of your pills using it. I was looking for something that could cut a lot of pills. The Equadose can surely cut the way it’s meant; however, I don’t think it’s that great because every time, there will be several adjustments and certain things you must do to finally get it just right, for each little pill. So that’s it.Caution: If you take ANY PILLS that have not been scored, make sure your doctor has instructed that is okay to split. There are too many drugs which deliver medicine over time and can release too much at once if you take a cut pill.(I would have given it a 4-star rating but I feel like this has deliberate product deception. It may seem like nothing to some, but many people have to take meds and need reliable products they can rely on.)

  4. Overall this is a pretty good item for my purposes, but there are pros and cons. I chose this cutter because I’ve been looking for one that doesn’t have the safety guards – it’s easy to accidentally get the piece of the pill trapped in the safety guard when you open it.This one works pretty well for my purposes in terms of being sharp and cutting cleanly. However, I don’t need to cut them perfectly in half, and I know that’s a deal breaker for a lot of folks. The pills I take are also very hard, so the cutter is able to cut cleanly through them, even all the way down into super small pieces. However, the lack of “padding” on the cutting surface (usually silicone) means that the pill does slide around a lot, and pieces even flip out onto the floor if you open it too fast. Even though I don’t have to worry about it being cut perfectly in half, sometimes it slips to the point where only a tiny part of the edge gets shaved off. Ironically, even though it’s slippery, it’s very hard to turn the pill 90 degrees if you’re trying to cut into quarters. Lastly, there are two compartments, but both are so small/narrow it’s really hard to get the pieces out. You can turn it upside down to let them fall into your hand, but that means if you are using one of them for storage, those pills come out as well, creating a bit of a mess and more likely to spill the whole thing. This does the job and will work for the moment, but unfortunately it looks like I’m still on the hunt for one that works best for me (with a silicone surface, no blade guard, and no extra compartments.)

  5. This is what I would consider an average pill cutter. It does what it is designed and advertised to do. It works pretty much as advertised. I think that one must consider both the size and the type of pill being cut. I have one pill that is round and chalky in nature and about 3/8th of an inch in diameter. Cutting them is about a 60 percent chance of doing the job right. The pills tend to break apart and sometimes into many bits along with generating a lot of powder. I am sure that any pill cutter is going to be challenged with this medication.Over all, I am satisfied with the pill cutter. Adding the pill holder to the package is a nice touch. These are being sold at this time for about $5 at my local pharmacy. I purchased several for travel purposes. So I am able to make good use of this pill “box” also.Depending on how many pills you are going to be cutting and the hardness of those pills, I see the blade being the weak point of this cutter. So far, my blade is doing the job. However, I expect as the blade becomes dull, the splitting of the pills will be more difficult. I suppose you replace the pill cutter rather than the blade when that happens. I don’t know how you would replace the blade and I definitely have not seen an offer for spare blades. As a result, this pill cutter will have a somewhat limited life.

  6. I have been cutting medium sized pills with a knife by hand for the last few years but I recently had to cut some small pills in half so I got this cutter. It works effortlessly. I’m able to cut pills in half the time it took before and the container helps reduce the mess since the cut pills easily fall into the holding section of the cutter. My only note is that it takes a bit of energy to line up the line on the pill with the blade when you’re working with a smaller pill, so if you have any issues with maneuvering small items (arthritis) this cutter may not be for you.

  7. I like there was a color option. I chose clear so I could see the pill clearly while cutting. The pill cutter is all plastic including the area where you set the pill to cut. The V wedge does help with pill placement but it still trys to slide around, especially when you are trying to cut an oval pill (like Benadryl, which I cut for my very small dog that doesn’t need the full pill size. It also doesn’t always give a clean cut, depending on the substance of the pill being cut. Sometimes it will leave power and very tiny crumbling. I already had a pill cutter, but it is getting old. (a different kind) I was using it primarily for my dog’s pills of various kinds. I am about to change a medication for myself that will require me cutting my prescription meds on the cutter, so I didn’t want to use the cutter for both of us for the safety of my dogs, by avoiding cross contamination. As it is, honestly my old pill cutter cuts just as good as this new one and it has a rubber platform in the V area, so the pills don’t slide as much. I’ll be using the new cutter on my pills. The purchase was ok. For the price it is good enough.

  8. I have really small pills to cut so this was basically a necessity as a knife was not doing it. I would say out of 10 pills 1 maybe cuts not all the way through. But it does it enough where I can just break it at that point it’s just not as clean line halves as the other ones

  9. I’m giving 4 stars to this product because I had to use with oval pills, and it was somewhat difficult to cut them exactly in a half, in this case, the pill has no dent. They tend to slide too far back, and they move when you bring the blade down. Overall, is a good gadget.

  10. This Acu-Life pill cutter makes it a lot easier to split pills into halves. I have been using a typical paring knife, and never seem to get a true 50-50 split. This pill splitter makes it easy and accurate. Also when I use a knife I often get lots of crumbles, but with this splitter, there is little to no residue. And the built-in catch tray keeps the cut pieces from scattering across the countertop. Definitely a recommended product. Of course, since it isn’t expensive, and is made from plastic except for the butter, it is not very rigid, but it does not look like it will fall apart anytime soon.

  11. After the frustration of using a single pill cutter that – more often than not, gave me half of one pill plus shards of the second half, I reluctantly decided to spend the money on this multiple pill cutter. It works like a charm regardless of pill size or shape. Just make sure you line the pills up next to each other with no gaps in between them and lay the base on a flat, level surface before making the cut.I first tried a standard sized pill that had an unusual rounded top. In my old pill cutter, these would fly around the in the container and turn to shards and powder. I laid out 7 pills in a row and covered them with the lid. I pressed down and heard a satisfying “THUNK” sound and to my amazement I had 14 pill halves – perfectly divided. That’s two weeks worth of medication with one single press. My mother takes one particular pill with a diameter of 3/16 of a inch. These suckers are TINY! I thought I was pressing my luck (literally) by trying to cut these in half. But again, this cutter was like a magic light saber in a blue box. I had 14 pill halves with only the smallest amount of powder and bits to wipe away.If you, or anyone you care about, takes a lot of medication that needs to be cut in half, you need look no further than this pill cutting light saber.

  12. This thing? It’s small but mighty. Sharp and accurate. I like to cut some pills in half and then quarter them. This works. I’ve had mine for years and bought this one for a family member as a gift. It’s absolutely essential for setting up 1/2 doses in pill boxed for the elderly. NO KNIVES NEEDED. VERY SAFE. And the cost? It’s worth EVERY penny and then some!

  13. Did what the pharmacy would not do, gave us 1/2 pills per doctors instructions.

  14. Feels sturdy and I used to split several pills that I only take half of hoping to keep my prescription costs down on much needed medication. It’s a little awkward to use at first but got the hang of it quickly. It does small and large pills which is nice and will help me extend my prescriptions and reduce my cost of these medications. I would recommend.

  15. I was trying to cut my dogs pills into quarters with a knife but they were crumbling apart since the pills were so thick. It made giving the correct dose hard. This cut right through them neatly.

  16. I love this product. I’ve been cutting pills with a knife for years and I hated doing it. This does a great job. My sister has a pill cutter but it’s difficult to open up. This opens with ease and will cut any size and shape of pill. I’m so lad I found this product and purchased it🤡

  17. Very cute in its container. Be SUPER careful as the ones with pointy edges are SHARP. Being made inexpensively like these, you can’t expect them to be commercially sturdy. For home use, not daily, I think they would last a LONG time. I couldn’t use correctly, even though there are many videos and pictures posted ☹️ I still would recommend to a friend/family member – AFTER warning them of the extremely sharp pointed ends

  18. At 6.88 for two you can’t really go wrong. Stop looking through at all the available pill cutters and just buy these. They work great and packing was excellent.

  19. I now get my prescription thru the u.s .veteran’s health system which is cheaper for me but a lot of the pills now have to be cut in half. I did the first batch by hand with a kitchen knife which took me forever and was not very precise. After i bought this multiple pill cutter i can now cut my 90 day supply in half in no time at all and they are all cut perfectly in half. i have two pills i do one is round and the other is oblong shaped and they both cut easily.

  20. Like others, I’m happy with how this little pill chopper works. I was using a knife which was fun for the cat and less so for me. This is much better. In one swift press on the chopper my pill splits and mostly shoots one half out into the open area so that I can dump it into my overly big hands.

  21. Let’s just say that a prescription to treat a certain male-oriented dysfunction caused fantastically wicked headaches. My doctor recommended taking half a dose, even though I was ready to become a monk. I reluctantly bought this pill-splitter, and it is more impressive than the impact of the medication (that’s what she said). The pills slice right down the middle with little effort. There’s a brush to clear away residual dust so as not to contaminate other items that may need lopped in two. And it also came (excuse the pun) with a nifty medicine keychain. Very impressed! (Which is NOT what she said.)

  22. The accuracy isn’t perfect, so that’s a little disappointing. Overall it is easy to use and stores the other half inside the cutter.

  23. Not much to it, cheep plastic pill cutter, doesn’t need to be fancy. Does the job.

  24. Rule of thumb, make sure pill is completely in before cutting. Some came out wrong but otherwise pretty good.

  25. This is a great little tool. I needed to cut some small pills and it worked great. And it looks like it would work fine for some larger pills as well. I received the product fast and so far it’s handling our needs fine.

  26. This item is handy to have around. Once you get the trick to it so as not to pinch the fingers, it cuts down to size any pill. It’s a must-have. ❤️

  27. My puppy has to take 7 pills a day. This I’ll cuter is super easy to use and works great!

  28. This pill cutter is a lot sturdier than the ones you can find at say Walmart. They cut pretty well and the blade as remained sharp overtime. It doesn’t always cut perfectly but that may just be user error. This would be the perfect gift for someone who has to cut alot of small pills/medications.

  29. I cut pills all the time at work and I get really frustrated with the old bit of plastic holding a razor blade type of cutter. I didn’t want that frustration to follow me home with my own medications. I saw this, was baffled and intrigued, so I bought it. No regrets. For a beginner though, know that it does not line up the cut for you. you have to hold the pill in the “teeth” and wiggle it til you think you’ve got it where you want. But that is still loads better than the cheap plastic cutters that line it up in the groove and still cut way off. Or the blade is just dull enough to smash most of it. I do not miss that problem with this. I get almost no pill dust, and the halves are very even. If you can stand a small learning curve, you’ll like it too.

  30. I wish I had found this pill cutter before I had bought so many others that didn’t work.
