The unit works well and as I had expected. I have only good things to say so far. I will update if my view changes.I purchased 2 heaters as I am away from home working on a contract and I don’t need to heat the whole place very often, just the 20×20 bedroom and/or 15×12 bathroom.I will get a little wordy here and try to debunk some of the armchair junk science being thrown about and maybe make it a little fun for some.In short let noise-level and cycling temp swings decide for you, unless you really just like something about one as another – but don’t fool yourself.OdorThere is an initial odor as the paint cures and any coating/film burns off. Wiping it down carefully might possibly reduce this period of odor (off-gassing). Those that say there is no initial odor, simply do not have optimal senses (and how many people have you ever heard say that their senses are dull – none!) – people don’t know what they dont know. Think about that for a moment, or.longer. Trust the canaries – they are mostly unbiased and they ARE telling you something. Just because one can’t sense something doesn’t mean all is just fine and dandy.Heat OutputThe heat output is as expected – not because I say so, but because the laws of physics say so. Those laws rarely change, and rarely from armchairs.Power is power, or said in one type of unit, wattage is wattage (exluding of any minor deficiencies). With that in mind, a (100V x 15A) 1500w ceramic heater and a 1500w oil radiator will produce the same heat transfer (one may be more directionally focused or dampened/diffused or quieter than the other). All the oil and fins do is difuse the direction of the heat dispersion/transfer and dampen the relative temp swings when the unit cycles – smooth temp graph over time or a spikey one (other characterizations are generally imaginary). 1500w for an hour, is 1500w for an hour – barring no major losses somewhere (sinewave, squarewave, rms aren’t real differences here). Losses here in the heater, itself would produce HEAT – heaters are interesting devices, they can be crude and yet they are pretty consistent in behavior for a given power consumption. This is in contrast to say an air conditioner where Ineffeciencies (less heat evacuated) produce counter-productive heat (heat = bad). This oil-filled heater unit provides no more or less heat transfer into a given size sealed room then any other heater, based on what we silly humans can realize (some minor inefficiencies, those produce waste heat as well, a loss is a win!). Any fixation otherwise is mostly irrelevant to use mere humans.TempThe temperature setting works fine (assuming no defect in your unit). The temp settings here are probably not best stated in F or C – as this misleads some. A better (relative) scale would be 1-10. The marketers over-ruled the engineers, again. :(Here is why a temp setting is silly; To start with, these type of units at best use a cheap DS1820b 20 cent sensor, or perhaps even something less accurate than that, like bimetallic coils in older thermostats – not sure here (I didnt read the details, not important to me). These bimetallic coils even work well enough unless defective (100+ years of experience there). The next level up of semiconductor temp sensor costs 5+ dollars. But it doesn’t matter how accurate they are, for many other reasons. First, you are an error-prone subjectively-influenced human (think speaker cables, what a topic that ignores blind testing). If one had a 100 dollar temp sensor it would be of no more benefit (OCD excluded) to us silly humans. Where is one measuring the temp? On the oil tank? Near it? What does “near” mean? 6″ away? 10′ away? Is the unit in a 10×10 room? 30×30? Is there forced circulation in the room, or into or from other rooms? How about the humidity (5% vs 95%) and its the impact on heat transfer across a given space? So many variables to consider. Having 10 “highly” accurate temp sensors spatially placed in the room, and averaged, still wouldn’t mean much in the real world – are you really concerned about keeping the spider in the corner nice and comfy? Our human concerns here are mostly silly, biased and subjective. There is no concept making everyone happy here, beyond those who understand the science here (formally or informally). If one is the type that thinks there is such a concept of something being exactly 85F, or something being exactly 1 ft long, or that stepping one half the distance to the wall will eventually get one to the wall (head in palm), then they will be dissapointed by any and every type of heater (and only subjective “feelings” will rule). You can have 12 eggs, but you will never have 1lb of eggs (near a pound yes, but not an exact pound). Ask yourself, setting the heater to 80F means what? 80F where? Ponder that. The science majors at the manufacturer cannot accurately answer this, and 99% of the marketing majors surely cannot answer more accurately – but they might in turn make you feel better with their product specs and nicely crafted literature. They did “produce” a lot of product info – being kind there.TimerThe timer seems to work fine for me but I have not tried every setting. Again time accuracy/precision is relative, and close enough is plenty good enough (99% vs 99.9%). Just like with temperature, one could add a microcontroller to get really close timing (remember, nothing is exactly X days, hrs or milliseconds in duration) but that costly higher precision would mean nothing to us mere humans in the real world – it just perhaps make a few consumers “feel” better.I am happy with my unit so far, as in my case I wanted a quieter more-difused heat with cycling (less temp swings) but I too am being subjective – and probably spending double for little gain. A heater that produces 1500w at 50% duty cycle vs 750w at 100% duty cycle is no different (you just have the spikes that may affect your comfort). You might tolerate the cycling spikes, or not. With respect to overall heat produced by each, if you think there is a dramatic differences please feel correct Mr Einstein and many others, and they’ll go prepare the universe for some troubled times ahead. Here I just wanted to counter some of the armchair scientists using subjective pseudo-science in their evaluations, though I do find the readings enjoyable. I learn a lot from them.Noise-levelAs I write this, my 1500w 30 dollar oscillating ceramic heater with internal fan is keeping me just as toasty in my 20×20′ bedroom, as the doubly-priced 1500w oil heater does, but the ceramic heater produces more noise for that same heat production and transfer. I think this is perhaps the biggest difference that could impact a buyer. Relatively high noise vs relatively low noise. That is probably the decider for many – silence good, white-noise good – finally something you decide.Happy Heating
One of the biggest problems with a central heating system is that it heats the entire house, taking more time to heat and use more electricity. If you are living in a big house like us and want just one or two cozy rooms to stay in, a central heating system can run up your electricity bills in no time. At the same time, there are still some nooks and corners that do not feel warm enough in your bedroom or home office. Portable space heaters are perfect answers for such a scenario. They are small, compact, yet powerful enough to heat the space in no time. As only the space you are in is heated by this space heater, the electricity used is minimal. There is no need to run up electricity bills by heating the entire house for hours or through the night when only the bedroom needs to be heated. If you choose one with ECO mode, the sensor will help self-adjust the settings to produce more or less heat based on the surrounding temperature. This also reduces your electricity usage/wastage to a great extent. Here I got two 16 inches height heaters – push button heater by Lasko, and touch control heater by Dreo. These are also two types commonly sold in space heaters. Both of the two heaters do a good job in my house and heat quickly with 1500 watts of warmth. But which one is more suitable for young couples like us?CONVENIENCE:If your heater is not just for near-table use, make sure to choose one with a remote. The Dreo’s comes with a remote control which is full-function and easy to use, so it is less time-consuming to heat up. No more bending down to change controls.LOOKS:The Lasko design is getting a bit old as far as I can see. The Dreo is updated and meets the demand of some young couples like us. Its black & golden finish makes this unit look really modern and slender for placement in the home décor. Our main living room is a bit retro style, but it fits into the room just right! It does not require much of a dedicated space and can be placed in a safe corner in the room. We use it in the living room watching our favorite show to keep the place warm, and once we are done, we move it back to the bedroom. Sometimes my dog likes to sit in front of the heater (by our side), the quiet warm wind makes him drowsy on cold days.NOISE:Both are quiet at all fan speeds, not like other heating units that are so loud that they keep you up all night! Generally, the fan in the heaters makes a humming noise throughout. But I would say this Dreo heater is one of the quietest heaters I ever used.THERMOSTAT:The Lasko has 3 heat settings: high heat, low heat, or fan only, and 12 temperature settings. The Dreo has a high, low, and eco, plus precisely adjustable thermostat from 41 to 95 in 1 increments, You can also set a timer for the heater to automatically turn off if required. The Lasko controls are simple and easy to follow yet it has no extra features other than fan speed. From user experience, dreo’s refined custom control is more suitable for young people who are constantly pursuing the quality of life, while lasko’s overly simple design maybe more suitable for some 80-year-olds to quickly get started.SAFETY FEATURES:Both are built-in protection, so you don’t have to worry about the protection button worn out. A space heater as small as 16 inches may get knocked down by a curtain, a dog, or some furniture being moved. An overheated device lying on your carpet can result in a fire. This tip-over sensor can greatly prevent fires and burn injuries by turning off the heating element before it becomes damaged or overheats in any way, preventing serious accidents from happening. After I have used them a couple of times, they can really do the job.MY FINAL THOUGHTS:Beyond the remote, the Dreo does everything the Lasko can plus more including a timer, a easy-to-read display, and a precise thermostat. Both brands can optionally be set to move side to side. The Dreo costs a little more but for us, it’s easily worth it. If you are looking for a delicate modern design heater that will provide ample heat for your small spaces in a big house, then this Dreo 16 inches space heater is the most definitely one I would recommend checking out. It is straightforward to use and puts out a strong heat output for such a small device while also providing multiple safety features, which can be invaluable if you have kids or pets in your home.Overall this is a quality space heater for an affordable price. Worth buying!
It definitely blows hot air and warms up the space, but I can’t give it many points past that. The fan is on constantly and it’s not very quiet. Imagine a box fan or the low fan speed mode on your microwave. It’s extremely noticable, but I guess it is what it is.The instructions say that I just run it, turn down the temp knob when it gets to a comfortable point, and then it’ll maintain the temperature from there. It doesn’t do that, it just shuts off and doesn’t turn back on unless I turn up the temp again. It doesn’t really feel like the temp changes much either. It’s just warm all the time, or it’s slightly warm. The fan also blows quite strong, so you get a warm breeze, which isn’t my favorite.I’ll give it props for warming up a space though. I could probably warm up most of my 8x12ft room, but only need it to warm up my desk space, which it’s a bit too powerful to make it comfortable without sticking it several feet away from meUltimately, it’s cheap and does its job at the cost of not having many settings. I have only used it for one day, but I don’t predict that it will change much over time unless it breaks. On the fence from 3 or 4 stars, but it has good reviews and seems to beat the other ones that melt of don’t do much, so 4 stars it is.
This is the fifth heater I have tried and FINALLY found one that works! We have a screened-in porch where we put plastic sheets over the windows in the colder Illinois months. I used this to heat up the porch for a party and it kept us toasty warm in 45-degree weather. I like the fact that the temperature is adjustable – we actually had to turn it down from 95 to 80 degrees, it oscillates and has a remote control. All of the other electric ones we’ve tried have blown a fuse, but this one ran for hours with no problem. I am very happy with my purchase and definitely recommend this heater.
I got this as a backup for an old and tired unit. When I unpacked and set it up a couple of things popped up at me. First, it was just a bit heavier than others, all being the same size and all. Ok, plugged it in and read the instructions and in about 1 minute al was working well. Second notice is that the tiny remote wasn’t as flimsy as others I’ve own. We all own these mini things for lights, things, name it and most are just to small and all are to flimsy. This one was just a bit more substantial and very well made and it operated that way. I say it’s another indication the unit is a bit better made than most. Works flawlessly, I love it.
The heater was delivered quickly and packaged securely. I’ve had it in daily use for over a month.Performance has been fantastic thus far. At first i thought it wasn’t working because i couldn’t hear it working, but it just runs so quietly i couldn’t hear it. I’ve never had a fanned heater that was practically silent. In a silent room i can barely hear it, if there’s casual conversation or any form of noise i can’t hear at all. The air pump on my aquarium totally drowns out the heater, and i use an ultra-quite air pump. The heat output is excellent, especially for the price and rather small form factor. I’m using it in my family room and it is powerful enough to keep the entire room balanced and comfortable. The remote works as expected from 20′ away, which use the furthest i tested it. However there is no built in remote holder on the heater. I used some Velcro tape, soft side on the remote and gritty side on the back of the heater to make it easy to keep track of the remote. It does not hold it’s memory when unplugged, meaning if you have it powered on when you unplug it it will not be powered on when plugged back in. You’ll have to push the power button if it loses power. Not a huge deal to most people, but i like to use smart outlets to control these kinds of devices for automating certain processes around the house. This heater isn’t a good candidate for that. I do still use a smart plug with it so i can make sure it powers off when there’s no one using the space. Not a huge deal, but worth noting.Overall i do recommend this heater, especially for the home office or Zen room. The quite operation is really the star feature of this unit, simply unmatched in my past experiences. Far more efficient than a baseboard or wall mount heater that are fanless for heating an entire room instead of one quadrant of the space. The modes (high, medium, low and eco) are noticably different. The heating element tends to stay constant, just at lower wattage. Eco mode actually turns the heating element in and off reducing power consumption while the fan still operates. This keeps the room temperature balanced without overheating it beyond the temp you set. The built in thermostat is pretty accurate and when using the oscillating feature in eco mode the whole room shares the same temperature.I do recommend this heater for any space under 350sq ft or so. If you’ve got really high ceilings maybe 200sq ft would be the limit of this unit.If you’re looking for a nice unit that doesn’t break the bank and doesn’t cause a distraction, this is worth putting on the short list.
I was mistakenly under the impression that the PELONIS PHTA1ABB Portable 1500W/900W heater had an option to run without the fan on, but it does not. I will be returning & purchasing a radiant heater because the fan noise will not work for my needs BUT if you don’t mind the fan noise & want a great little heater, this thing rocks. I bought another 1500w space heater with fan for about the same price & it doesn’t put out nearly as much heat as this little guy does, on 900w (can’t imagine how 1500w may be!). If you need a very small, very powerful 2 stage power (900w/1500w) space heater that does not oscillate & does have some fan noise, this one is a winner!
Really a nice little floor heater. My old, central HVAC went out and needed something quickly to keep the living room warm while I sorted getting the house unit replaced as my wife works from home and I felt bad when I would see her sitting in the office chair, looking like a street person all bundled up in a parka coat, hoodie and sweats … This unit is absolutely quiet enough to sleep with and puts out enough heat to keep a living room warm (So. Cal winter). Might not be good enough if you’re in a location that’s sub-zero, but for me it’s perfect. On high, it really throws the heat a surprisingly long distance, so you can place it away from you and still get the warmth without having the machine right at your feet. I plan to buy another.
I just pruchased this and received it this week. I have been using it for about 4 days and love it. I live in an apartment with a large living room (high ceilings – open floor plan) I turn this heater on in the mornings (this week, the outside temperature has been in the 30’s) and in no time my living room and other rooms are warm. According to a thermometer I have the room starts out in around 66 degrees and within 1 hour after I turn on the heater the reading is 72. I run it on the Eco mode. Again, this is a great heater.
Perfect for spot warming
I never write reviews but this little heater is perfect to keep me warm in my home office. My desk is in the basement which gets freezing during the winter, so I have used this heater every single day while I work and it keeps me nice and toasty all day. I usually start with direct high heat to warm up right off the bat, and then switch to the rotating mode the rest of the day. I’ve had this heater for almost a year now and so far it’s held up great with pretty consistent use.
I bought an older version of this previously and I liked it except how hard it is to set at a consistent temperature. I ended up buying the same thing again when I needed another for a different room because it’s the only one in this price range with the anti-knockover safety feature. I love the new oscillation feature they’ve added since I bought my first one, but it’s even worse at temperature control. It’s anyone’s guess whether it’ll heat to 68 or 85F, which is really an unreasonable range. I use it to keep my foster kitten rooms from getting too low at night, but when I have to wake up 5x in the night EVERY NIGHT to make sure I’m not cooking or freezing them, it’s really not doing me a lot of good.
I have an office that is offset from the rest of my house and next to the garage. Living in Indiana, it gets pretty cold in my office so I wanted a way to stay warm during the day without having to run up a huge electric bill from heating my whole house. At first I really didn’t think this was a great product and contemplated sending it back. My office is 8×12 and it would get a little warmer, but no where near as warm as I had set the heater thermostat. I finally decided to see how it did if I shut the door to my office and it is night and day. My office is so warm and it’s so pleasant to work in here during the cold Indiana days. I would 10/10 recommend this as long as you aren’t trying to heat a bigger open space.
Ran it for the first time all day and alrhough it did warm up pretty soon to eemove chill of livingroom it took all day to reach 68 degrees. Living room not very big. A rectangle and narrow. It turned off when it was 68 in the room after i reduce heater down yo 65 but it didnt turn back on when room dropped to 64. Direction booklet a bit difficult to understand if it shoukd turn back on or not if it turns off reaching set temp. It was on high when ibtrurned it to low briefly barely any heqt came out and room temp dropped fast. Not hot to touch on top but i dont want to test where hheat comes out. Buying a 2nd one slightly smaller for small bedroom for my kid. Smaller one works fast and quick and will shut off when reaches temp snd turn back on to maintain that temp. I wish the 24 inch one was as effective
Works great for the intended purpose, especially for the price. I bought it to use from room to room instead of heating a 4 bedroom MFG home with the central air. After leaving it on for a while I went to move it to another room and the cord and plug were warm, therefore I WOULD NOT leave this on unattended if you leave the home…..In my eyes they should have used heavier power wire and plug for the heater.Only other gripe is the smooth top where the handle is, impossible to grip with one hand. It needs an indention for your thumb.
I literally purchased this for my small bathroom to keep the chill down . With energy at such a high price I have turned the house heater down to 62° and my bathroom was chilly! This definitely does the trick. I get up and turn on this little heater and close the door – feed my dogs and come back and my bathroom is perfect for a bath or shower. I love it
We live Northern New Mexico & rely on sunshine (“passive solar” windows) & a min-split system for our winter heat. They work well & efficiently together – UNLESS it’s a cloudy day. Because the mine-splits are high on the wall (also used for cooling in the summer), the brick floors get cold. This space heater really does the trick warming up the floors! We only use it when it’s very cold or cloudy, and it sits in our living room. I put it on auto & let it run while we hang out in the evenings. Not silent, but not overly noisy either. Simple controls on both the unit & the remote. Works for exactly what we need from it.
I live in a condo and I live towards the mountains where that the wind blows really up to about 65 70 miles an hour maybe higher but in the winter time it gets real cold because I can see the mountains when the snow is on it. To make a long story short I have a room that I call on my art room is where I do all my artwork and craft working Etc. And it’s over my garage so in the winter time it gets real cold in that room. Since I purchased this heater that room is probably just comfortable as any other part of my home and I’m very satisfied. My only drawback I wish it was Bluetooth so that I can control it from my phone and set it at nice room temperature prior to if I had to go back in there and work in that area for a while. Good product it’s very hard for me to give five stars to any product whether it’s perfectly made there’s always a drawback. But I think you would be very pleased if you purchase this product especially for people that are in college or people that are doing work in a room where that its stays cold all the time it’s a very good product and I’m sure they stand by their 26 years of being in business. Disclaimer: I do not work for this company. I am a common customer that bought a product read the reviews and how it operates to draw my conclusion on this product.
Great Heater! I got this heater for under my desk at work. I used it for 4 years and never had a problem with it. When I left the company, I had to leave the heater because the company paid for it. I have a new job and I bought the same heater because it worked so well. There is a safety feature in it so that if you kick it over or pick it up it will shut off, once you set it back up it will go on. I also like the handle for easy pick up and the knobs are easy to turn. The size and heat output are perfect. Honestly there isn’t anything I would change. I never really thought that much about a heater LOL but because I needed to purchase another one it was a no-brainer to purchase the same one.
Best little heater I have ever owned.. too bad it keeps blowing a circuit in my breaker box… Its plugged into a heavy duty extension cord into the wall, not a surge protector.EDIT: I learned something new about household electrical outlets; some appliances, like washers/dryers/fridge, require a direct current with little to no interruption. That means these appliances need their own outlet, essentially. Once I switched the heater to an outlet that wasn’t being used by any other device, it has worked perfectly. I guess it draws a lot of power, which makes sense because it puts out some serious heat!5/5!
No ocupa mucho espacio y calienta rapido la habitacion.
I really like this heater. I have 4 other ones and use them in every room. They don’t use much electricity and keep the house warm – I even have one in the garage and it works very well! None of them are as nice as this Pelonis though. This one is very attractive and has a remote! It’s been in the low 20s here — I can’t sleep in a hot room so I keep the heat low but when it’s time to get out of bed— brrrrr COLD – but now I can use my remote to warm up the bedroom before I get up. Great feature! It’s very easy to use (I’m getting old and am easily confused)… even has a timer; 2 to 10 hours. I like it so much I bought one for a friend.Highly recommend — Money well spent – buy it, you’ll like it!
Note: I have had this unit for only 2 days, so this is only a first impression. This little jewel is impressive! I have another electric heater that is rated at 1500 watts. Though It is the older “heated wire” type of heater that works only on convection.. (no fan)This unit, when compared to my other unit, is a huge reminder that watts are a measurement of energy consumption, NOT a measurement of heat output. This heater puts out nearly twice the heat as my older unit with the same rate of energy consumption! The fan makes it even better. It is very quiet and helps to distribute the heat instead of just having it mix with the air in the room by just floating up. It has lots of great features. I am really impressed by the big delivery of this small heater. I bought 2 of these units for my bedrooms based on reviews that I read. Now, after seeing for myself how well they work, I am kicking myself for not ordering 3 of them. I am now planning to get a 3rd unit for my workshop soon.Only one problem noted here:When I pushed the button on the remote to turn it on, it also turned on my tower fan, which was close by. (different brand) So, I simply unplugged the fan, since I won’t be using it through the winter anyway.
This is a good heater but if you have it in a large room it’s going to take a while to heat it up. It runs super quiet and gives off good heat.
I was reluctant about purchasing this heater because of the 1-star reviews. Luckily, I didn’t heed them. This wonderful little heater produces great heat without any strange odor. Any time an item is mass produced a stinker is going to get through. That is with everything, but I believe the majority of them are great to the point where I have ordered a second unit. The only con is not really a con at all. There is not a specific temperature control setting, you just turn the knob and readjust until you find the right setting. I have an older heater with digital settings. When you set if for 72 degrees and it reaches 72, it will start blowing cool air so that it doesn’t go above 72. Then when it cools for a few seconds, the temperature drops, and it starts blowing heat again. It seems to be a never-ending cycle. This unit does not have that problem. The pros are the price, makes great heat for a small unit and has a tip-over safety switch on the bottom of the unit. I don’t remember is this unit is energy efficient, but my old one is definitely not. For heating a medium size room, I recommend this product.
This heater is not too bad. I would recommend it to those who need a cheap, no frills space heater. There are no numerically defined notches for the amount of heat that is output such as actual temperature- you have to guess and find out by trial and error to find out what kind of output is going to provided by the unit. It does, however, adjust to whatever setting you put it on so it does have some sort of primitive climate control. Luckily, I do have a thermometer in the room it’s used in so I’m not operating it completely blindly.I would recommend this to buyers who don’t want anything fancy, but if you do want to have well-defined temperature control, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Otherwise for the price and quality, it’s not a bad buy.
This space heater gets an A+ in my book. My master bathroom is FRIGID in the winter. It has been absolutely torture to have to wake up and go in there to get ready in the mornings…then I found the Dreo space heater. It is the first space heater I have found that actually warms the whole space and in a timely manner. The best part is it comes with a remote, so when I wake up, I turn it on from my bed and wait a bit to let it get to work before I actually get up. It’s been a game changer!! I finally won’t freeze to death every morning during the winter! Highly recommend.
I love it
My mom’s house has poor insulation and no central heat. I bought this for my room and have been so impressed with how well it keeps me warm. I set it up in the bathroom in the mornings for my shower. I even set it in the living room for my dogs when I leave for school and work. It’s a much bigger space but still keeps warm enough for my dogs to be comfortable. I don’t set to full temp in the living room or it will never shut off. With that being said, the safety feature is great for auto shut off when knocking it over. I am not sure about over heating so I don’t set full temp when I am gone. I keep a camera on my dogs though so I keep that extra peace of mind. Very pleased.
I put the heater on a power monitor. It uses 1500 W when on the high setting, and 750W in the normal mode. In ECO mode, it will start at the highest setting and drop to the lowest as it reaches temperature. The heat output is super, and the screen cover at a gap and the tilt sensor keep it safe enough to use in a tent.I wanted it to always work at 750W or less so it wouldn’t’ draw too much power from our RV battery. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to do that. Even in ECO mode, it starts high.
