Lately, I have been sharing his cleaning expertise online, giving incredible tips and tricks on how to select the right products, and clean your home like a pro!

  1. My rating is somewhat reflective of the fact that this is a 12VDC player and that is uncommon; most small electronics that aren’t USB powered run at 19 volts. I wanted this for our off-grid cabin where we only run 12 volt solar/battery DC and did not want to have to step up voltage, but it could also be used on an RV or boat – very low power consumption. I built an automotive-style power cable by cannibalizing a  Hosa ACD-477 Universal Power Adaptor  I already had for a matching tip, and a  Roadpro 12V Fused Replacement Cigarette Lighter Plug with Leads  for the plug with a spot of wire between. I could have sacrificed the power adapter that came with it, but wanted to preserve that in case we brought it home in the future. Using a long HDMI cable, we have this connected to a  AAXA P300 Pico/Micro LED Projector with 60 Minute Battery Life, WXGA 1280×800 Resolution, 400 Lumens, HDMI, Mini-VGA, 20,000 Hour LED Life, Media Player , which is a projector that also runs at 12 volts. So far so good. Because the projector is mounted overhead, we wanted to use the USB port on this to load media and movies. We found that movies ripped to 1280×800 with 2 channel stereo at 44kHz sample rate play fine. We also tested out Netflix – we use a phone based hotspot in an cradle amplifier for internet – and in our 10 minute test it worked perfectly, even given our limited bandwidth. Overall we are quite happy. If I was buying this for home I might choose a player that had component video out, optical audio out, or analog audio out as secondary – this is HDMI only – but for our purposes this is fine.

  2. For the price of this blu-ray player I was expecting better quality. From time to time I’ve run into issues with connectivity, and it was not the Wifi at fault. Sometimes unplugging the player and plugging it back in was needed to help with the connectivity issues. I don’t like that every couple weeks I’m having to crawl under the entertainment center to pull the power plug for a hard reset. It should just always work. I’m not impressed at all with the remote that comes with the player. You have to point it exactly at the player for it to work. That drives me crazy! It’s tiny, and easy to lose too. It would be nice to have a remote that works without having to point it directly at the player. Anyone that visits can’t seem to figure out the remote and assume it needs new batteries. The quality is not there with this player, and I regret paying over $70 for it! I would not buy an LG blu-ray player again.

  3. So, if you’re wanting to buy this blu-ray player mainly for streaming – stop right there and go buy a Roku or firestick. This player is just not built for streaming, I’m sorry to say. I bought this because I wanted to use it for blu-rays and DVDs and watching my downloaded films from a USB stick. And it does all of those things pretty decently. I have to say that I notice some skipping when I watch blu-rays and DVDs. Or, rather, the sound will suddenly drop out for a couple of seconds and then I have to rewind that part to hear the sound. I know it’s not a problem with any of my discs – it does it with new discs, old discs, discs that I’ve watched recently on other players that work just fine – it’s definitely a fault with this player and I’m not sure why it happens or how to fix it or if it can be fixed. It’s not a huge problem. It only happens occasionally so it’s not too annoying, just mildly inconvenient. I figure you get what you pay for. I wanted a cheap blu-ray player because I’m not made of money and I just wanted to watch my collection of films and shows, man. Like I said, it does that decently, but with the trade-off that it’s not perfect. I knew that going in and I was willing to accept that. For only $60 this player is not that bad – the picture quality is good as well as the DVD upscaling and the simple, easy to use menu layout – but I wouldn’t pay any more than that due to it’s faults.Again, DO NOT buy this for streaming because it’s streaming capability is terrible at best. If you want really good streaming quality you’re better off getting a dedicated streaming device such as a Roku or Amazon Firestick or whatever. I have a Roku for streaming and it works very well. If you’re really intent on having an “all-in-one” type of player/streaming device then I think you’d be best spending a lot more money on something that’s much better quality.

  4. We needed a budget friendly camera that looked elegant, gave us remote control of its position, and had a great image, and this camera gave us all three of those! It was not difficult to set up, and as a bonus it is comparable with software from PTZ Optics, so programs like OBS are natively able to work with it. We are also able to control it with an XBox controller, which is an added plus since we don’t need to buy an expensive camera controller.I should point out that you do need more than one camera if you want a PTZ like this though. Moving a live feed is really jerky—and I don’t think that you will have smooth movements with any camera in this price range, which is why I don’t fault this choice. So long as you can cut to another angle while adjusting this camera, it will give you no issues!Again, great camera for a great price. (We just bought another to give us a second angle that we can also control!)

  5. I appreciate that I got this at a very good Prime Day price. I now have 3 Fire Sticks and am grateful to have them. This generation seems to work faster than the previous as well — scrolls faster, responds faster. I don’t generally use voice, because the previous version was horrid to even attempt, so I gave up long ago.Now here’s the rub. AMAZON, YOUR NEW FIRE STICK DESIGN IS A FAILURE. Here’s why:The new remote is great for those who never used the previous remote. The previous was more streamlined which made it easy to locate buttons without even glancing at it. The previous had fewer buttons so there was little confusion as to what you were pressing at any given time. The batteries were near the bottom of the remote which is where the bulk of the weight would rest perfectly in the palm of your hand. The NEW remote is the opposite of all of the above. First, there is no way I can find the play/pause button on this remote unless I physically look down at it. Even then, it’s smack dab in the middle of a square of NINE buttons, plus 5 more. The mute and live TV buttons are placed so that it’s easy to feel for them without having to stop to look at the remote (there is blank space below both). I am often pressing the wrong button when trying to play/pause. Yes, I could click the large round Select button at the top, but if on YouTube, it takes two clicks to pause, and the screen menu appears on the screen which takes yet another click to remove. All this means extra clicks (wear and tear) on the remote, extra battery power, and is a general annoyance. Now about the battery.. the batteries on the new remote are at the top which puts the bulk of the weight opposite of where most people hold the remote — either in the palm or with the fingers. I have dropped this thing numerous times already because it feels unbalanced and top-heavy. It is unnatural for the way we’re used to most remote controls. In addition, because I still have two other Fire Sticks with remotes that I still use, it is difficult to retrain my hands to use this clumsy, awkward stepchild of a remote just for this one device.Lastly, the new buttons for streaming services are nice to have, but not the greatest to have. If you truly have — and USE — all 4 services, this remote is made for you. Anything less than 2 or 3, and it’s just another device with useless functions. While I appreciate being able to single-click to Hulu, I would much rather go through the main menu and get rid of these excess buttons. PLUS, most remotes have a different colored Power button at the top. Between the fact that these buttons being at the bottom + the awkward weight distribution of the remote, I frequently mistakenly hold this remote the wrong way and end up clicking incorrect buttons. I’m watching a video on YouTube, and with one errant click, I’m in that wild maze of a Live TV menu, wonder where I went wrong in life.AMAZON, HERE’S WHAT TO DO TO IMPROVE THIS REMOTE:1. Move the batteries back to the bottom right at the area where most people hold the lower half of the remote in their palm. 2. Move the streaming buttons to the top of the remote. 3. Move the mute, volume up, volume down, and Live TV buttons down into a separate section AWAY from the navigational buttons. Leave blank space below the rewind, play/pause, and forward buttons so we can again find these buttons without having to turn on lights and look down at the remote. 4. A more complete transfer of previous Fire Stick data to the new Fire Stick would be appreciated — my transfer of data was incomplete. Why not allow a simply one-time cloning of apps via Amazon AWS so we don’t have to spend an hour reinstalling apps we’re used to?Until then, I’d like my money back or an exchange of this Fire Stick for an older generation like the other two I have. 1 star for the price, 1 star for the volume control, 1 star for speed. I’d take off more stars for the annoyances, however.UPDATE 11/2022:I still have the same bad review regarding the design of the new remote control. I STILL find myself grabbing it and holding it the wrong way which makes me click the wrong button (upside down, the forward button is mistaken for the rewind) and I use it daily. STILL hard to get used to. No product should be this difficult to transition to. NEW COMPLAINT: Actually, this is something I noticed right away, but can verify after extended usage. Occasionally, my Internet cuts out. On my laptop, I see that it is restored in about 1 minute. However, the Fire Stick takes upwards of FIVE additional minutes to have it’s connection restored. Of course, I can EXIT the app I’m using, go to Settings, and go through the network prompts to get it to reconnect, but c’mon… really? The old Fire Stick would reconnect as quickly as my laptop. There is something off with this new device. Please fix, then send me another for review. /// I still greatly appreciate the quick buttons (Hulu, etc.. although if you don’t use those services, the keys are useless and just more clutter) and the volume buttons.

  6. The cameras are excellent for houses of worship. The pictures are brilliantly clear. A bit of challenge for a beginner to set up, but the customer service was exceptional – Ivan took more that quality time in helping us do the set up.

  7. I have a bunch of streaming services and dont pay for cable. This allows me to utilize all of my apps on one device and even gives me the capability of watching movies and shows on free streaming apps, the ads on those services are similar to commercials I would see on cable television. I dont know what more you could ask for. Just pay for internet, get an Amazon FireStick and call it a day. Do t waste your time with cable subscriptions. I dont use this feature but you can also select some of your favorite cable television networks and stream those using this product. I dont use the voice option often but it does save a lot of the leg work of having to type out exactly what I’m searching for. I only have the one television, but I will definitely pick up another FireStick, it’s just that awesome! To circle back a bit, setting it up was very straight forward and simple. Just need an available wall outlet and an open HDMI port and you’re set. Once it is all hooked up, it’s as simple as changing your video output on the tv like you would with a gaming console or something. Syncing the remote was easy with step-by-step processes. Keep in mind that you may need to update the FireStick once it is all synchronized. The update for me took about 20minutes, but once that was finished I was instantly enjoying my favorite movies and shows.I could have had my FireStick sent to me already signed into my Prime account but I dont trust that enough so I chose to do it myself manually. I signed into all of my apps and downloaded a few new ones onto the tv. That process was pretty normal really and I’m glad that I have the freedom to choose which apps I want and how I want to use them. Also the customization of the homescreen is awesome. My ONLY gripe is that I havent figured out how to disable the idle screensaver. I like to take a break and pause my shows to go play with my dogs outside or run an errand or two. I dont mind leaving my devices on. But with this device, if I pause anything within 5 minutes the screen goes to a windows like screensaver then goes black until i press a button on the remote. I’d rather it stay open and on but then again I havent looked into it and I dont know if that’s even an option, again my only gripe. Still not a deal breaker and I give this product 5/5 stars.

  8. I ordered this device and had it delivered within 8 hours, that in itself is amazing. OK, now about the Roku:The packaging was good, everything was nicely protected and contained everything you need to connect to any TV with an HDMI connector.Connecting the Roku was simple, a small USB wall wart for power, or you can use the USB port on your TV if it has one for power. The included HDMI cable was long enough to place it in a good position but not so long that you have a lot of cable flopping aroundNetwork setup was a breeze, I was able to use the provided APP to scan the network passcode directly to the device, very slick, and very fast.Setting up the Roku was a very simple process, I added the streaming services I use and set them in the Roku in under 20 minutes. The provided remote automatically synced to my TV without any intervention from me, the remote controls the power and volume on the TV so you do not need the second TV remote really unless you are changing settings. The Roku turns on almost instantly.I tested loading Amazon Prime Video first, whereas the Blu-ray player I was using for streaming would take several minutes to connect to Amazon Prime Video the Roku opened the service in under 30 seconds each time I tested. The video quality is excellent. The ease of use is excellent. The size and design are excellent, small, and easy to hide in plain sight, it even comes with its own adhesive strip if you want to mount it to the side of your TV. (The remote requires a line of site to function)The only thing I did not like about the Roku setup was the requirement to enter credit card information.I appreciate the fact that if you are going to purchase content that having your credit card on file makes the process faster, but, I still think there should be an option to only enter your credit card if you want to make a purchase.Overall, for the price and for the performance, you cannot go wrong with this product.

  9. MUY BUEN PRODUCTO. ME SIRVE MUY BIEN

  10. I have an old “dumb” TV and had previously been using a combination of Chromecast and plugging in a laptop to view different streaming services (Netflix, Peloton, NBC sports, TNT, Youtube). Now I can just use the Roku to watch anything – it’s so much easier and frees up my laptop while the TV’s in use.One really unfortunate negative is the remote: although the Power and Volume buttons can be programmed to control another device like your TV, you can’t have the power button and volume buttons control DIFFERENT devices! This is a super common setup if you have an AV receiver for audio, but this artificial limitation means I can either use the Roku remote to turn my TV on and off, or control my speaker volume, but not both! So I’m still stuck having to use multiple remotes…As a software/firmware engineer, there’s literally no reason Roku couldn’t allow you to program 2 different device IR codes (other than avoiding adding some optional complexity in a *one-time* setup process), but as a result the entire remote is so much less useful. Really disappointing design decision, especially since Roku’s are going to be more popular with older non-smart AV setups that either predate HDMI ARC/eARC or have a broken implementation, where this tiny feature could be hugely beneficial.

  11. I am not a whiz at any of these electronic gadgets. But this one is so easy to use, even I could hook it up and use it right out of the box. The number of various streaming services available is amazing. And the response to inputs is just so much faster than I can get on my 60″ smart TV.I will never be able to watch all the shows I’d like to watch as life intervenes with TV watching. But compared to my old Chromecast thingamagig, this Roku is night and day above and beyond. I love it and highly recommend it. It’s about time for me to cancel my Xfinity subscription and go streaming with ROKU!

  12. My first streaming device which I still have is a Roku XS. This device gave years of excellent usage. I have since switched to the Amazon Fire Stick line up which were more affordable when on sale. However, I decided to try back a Roku device. To my surprise, the interface remains largely unchanged from my 10 year old Roku XS. This is not necessarily a bad thing as it’s one of the fastest and easiest to use interfaces around. It could do with some modernization in terms of looks but that is about it. This little streamer supports all the major services and hundred more including the Roku channel which has free movies. The remote is easy to use and the buttons are well placed. You have the option for private listening using the Roku app from your mobile phone as well. It supports WiFi 6, Dolby Vision and HDR10.The one issue I have with the Fire TV Stick is how much it slows down and becomes sluggish over time. Roku devices do also suffer from this slow down, however it takes a few years before you notice any kind of slowing down. Hopefully this is the same for their current line up. Overall, if you are looking for a great little streamer this 4K stick wont let you down.

  13. purchased TV and Roku in 2015 so old school. Not smart TV. Move the TV (and Roku) to the back porch and the old Roku would not detect my wifi. Order this one and wa-la. Plug and play, instant attachment to my wifi and even allowed me to use the Roku to control my TV and volume so: Yay! no more two handed remotes. While setting it up I was going to go on line and find out if this Roku would allow for the paring of my television. Up pops the question “do you want your Roku to control your Sanyo TV?” press YES and boom! Connected. I now have voice commands and the ease of this Roku. If you have an older Roku. UPGRADE to this model. And I’m OUT.

  14. My Roku 3 seems to have got zapped in a lightning storm – no hdmi. I decided to update with this stick. I really prefer a wired connection but found that the Amazon firestick gave a decent wireless connection and image (with occasional buffering) but I prefer the Roku. First impression was that the stick was so slim, but then after going down another layer I saw the rest – also thin but it’s the wireless extender that plugs into the side of the stick and you can either plug into the tv USB port or into the included plug with USB. I think a plug in to the back would have been better, it also says keep the extender from resting on other cables.Setup was different from the older generation Rokus. It asked me to sign in or create an account. I signed in then it updated, and then asked me what I was interested in watching (why? I have those channels already) and it tried to get me to do free trials (not interested) then it started – a lot faster than I thought it would be. It also sends you an e-mail with link to click when you are setting it up and you have 30 minutes in which to do it. I had to sign in for my subscription channels. Voice recognition was good.It also recognizes your tv (an LG in my case) and sets it up to be controlled by the power and volume buttons on the remote! The volume buttons are on the side. It also has a power saving mode and turns off after a period of inactivity which is nice. It runs a screen saver and returns to where you left off in a show when you press the play button again.I haven’t watched it for any length of time, will update when I do.

  15. I assume we all have some form of streaming device in 2022, but if you dont the Firestick may be the most approachable and easy to use of all the different devices. We have smart TVs, Apple TVs, Roku and I am sure some others that have been in and out of our home over the last 10-12 years but these little HDMI sticks are just plain simple and intuitive to use so there is one in nearly every room of our house.I just bought the newest one on a Black Friday deal because the first-generation one in our bedroom was acting a bit slow to respond, but sure enough, by the time the new one arrived the old one seemed fine again. I am keeping the new one anyway and moving the old one to the garage because of the voice controls that were not available on the original.I really don’t know what else to say other than it’s an excellent streaming device that works with all of your different streaming accounts for very little investment of cash or time to setup.
